Peppa Pig fans shocked after discovering answer to 21-year-old mystery

Metro29-04-2025

Peppa Pig fans have been left shocked after discovering the cartoon character's real name.
Despite being on our screens for 21 years, fans of the show had no idea what the first name was of the main character.
In February, viewers were baffled by the 'bonkers' way Mummy Pig chose to announce her pregnancy.
The cartoon appeared on Good Morning Britain where she exclusively informed presenter Richard Arnold that she was expecting her third child.
Some viewers questioned whether they were hallucinating as they watched the breakfast show.
But now it appears there is even more drama with the show after it was revealed that Peppa is in fact the pig's middle name. Did you know Peppa Pig's real name?
According to Good Find Toys, Peppa's full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig, MailOnline reported.
@shannonnx14 wrote on X: 'Peppa pigs full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig. You learn something new every day.'
Last year, Metro exclusively revealed how despite becoming one of the most popular children's TV show ever made, 20 years ago bosses were concerned about people 'getting on board' with Peppa Pig.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the show, Richard Ridings, known as Daddy Pig, said: 'At the time I thought a family of pigs was a bit weird.
'But as soon as you see it, you get it, and hear the script and how witted they are, it does make sense.'
He added: 'I thought, I wanted to be involved even if it was tiny, but who could imagine it being so big across the world.' More Trending
Peppa Pig first aired on TV Channel 5 back in May 2004.
Created by Astley Baker Davies, the show has been broadcast in over 180 countries and dubbed in over 40 languages.

JoJo Siwa sets the record straight on her sexuality after being mocked by Miley Cyrus

JoJo Siwa has officially set the record straight on her sexuality amid her budding romance with Love Island star Chris Hughes. The Dance Moms alum, 22 - who was recently mocked by Miley Cyrus - opened up about the topic during an interview with E! News this week. It was confirmed earlier this month that the singer and TV personality, 32, are dating after first crossing paths on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. a few months earlier in April. Siwa first came out as part of the LGBTQ + community in 2021 - and initially identified as pansexual before coming out as lesbian. However, JoJo expressed to the outlet on Friday that she is queer. 'I think the most beautiful term now is queer. I think queer is an umbrella of, "Look, I'm just me,"' the performer stated. 'And I think the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is love. And that goes both ways.' Siwa continued, 'There's loads of beautiful, different sexualities. Sexuality and queerness is a lovely rainbow that has all different places, and it also has places on this rainbow that we don't even know exist yet.' The star brushed aside criticism and explained, 'I feel so in the right position for myself. I feel so content with my happiness. 'I feel so relaxed and at ease with where I'm at. I feel so happy and peaceful that the love that I feel is so real. You can't really help who you fall in love with.' JoJo also briefly talked about her new beau Chris and revealed that she has 'never 'second guessed' what she feels for the reality star. 'Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing.' Siwa further added, 'When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy. When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.' Back in April, the dancer first crossed paths with Hughes on Celebrity Big Brother - where they first developed a close friendship. But their bond caused viewers to speculate that there was more between them and in April following the show's afterparty, JoJo notably split from girlfriend and Australian influencer Kath Ebbs. But their bond caused viewers to speculate that there was more between them and in April following the show's afterparty, JoJo notably split from girlfriend and Australian influencer Kath Ebbs; Siwa and Ebbs seen in February in Sydney Earlier this month, Siwa publicly confirmed her new romance with Chris during an interview for Capital Radio. She admitted that their relationship was no longer 'platonic' and said that she was 'head over heels' for Hughes. 'I'm sure it's no secret to people, I am in a lovely relationship with a sweet boy named Christopher Hughes.' The media personality also expressed, 'It's not platonic any more, and it's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way.' The singer also shut down rumors that their romance was simply a publicity stunt and said, 'Clearly, you've never been around us. I won't ever speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life just radiates off of me right now. 'Literally yesterday, I was massaging my cheeks; I've never [before] been in pain from smiling so much.' And during an appearance on Capital Breakfast, JoJo described their relationship as 'earthquake proof.' She explained, 'You know what's interesting? As hectic as life is, and as much as that noise goes on, I feel like Christopher and I discovered this beautiful house together. And this house is earthquake proof, and it's fireproof, and bulletproof. 'And you know, we discovered this house and found the keys, and we took the keys and locked ourselves in, and now it's like... You know what I mean? I feel like that with myself, I feel like that with him.' Siwa - who has had the chance to meet Hughes' parents - also stated that she is very happy with Chris and said that he makes her want to be a better person each day. The dancer said, 'He makes me we want to be nicer, because he's such a nice human. He's the best egg in the batch! I could never get tired of speaking highly of him, he's just the best.' Jojo had been dating Kath Ebbs when she began starring on Celebrity Big Brother U.K. but broke up with the influencer at an afterparty for the show in April. Ebbs recently broke her silence over the breakup as she slammed negative comments. 'Another day B***Hing about TikTok on Instagram cause love constantly troll me and telling me to 'get over it' whilst simultaneously not getting over it themselves. 'Go be obsessed with those that are screaming for the attention, they love it and they are build for it,' Kath further added. 'I'm not and never asked for any of this. My only crime was being in a committed loving relationship and then humiliated on a world stage. How does that make me a horrible person?' In another post she continued, 'I've been working so hard to hold my own everyday through this. 'Using the tools I have to weather the storm, stay sane and sit knowing I don't need to share the truth of it with the world because those that actually matter in REAL life know exactly what happened and that should be all that matters to me.' Ebbs admitted that, 'It's all be so so toxic and I'm at my wits end' and wished that 'people would put themselves in someone else's shoes for a moment before indulging in this kind of online toxicity.' In conclusion, she wrote, 'Better yet to a person that literally did nothing wrong. I'm so sick of being gaslight over and over again by said people and the public. It needs to stop. 'You don't need to choose sides, instead you could do me the courtesy of letting me in heal in peace.' Jojo's latest comments come shortly after Miley Cyrus ignited outrage as she seemingly shaded Siwa earlier this month. The Grammy winner could be seen in a video message for WorldPride while standing inside a closet. 'Oh, my God, I haven't been in here since sixth grade!' she said. 'Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you. It shouldn't be a month - it should be a year; it should be infinite.' Cyrus then jokingly added, 'I'm going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.' However, the humor didn't land with some fans who took to social media to share their thoughts with one penning on X, 'Can ya'll just let bi people exist?' 'I adore Miley, but this isn't OK,' another wrote, and one added, 'Again, JoJo being with Chris doesn't erase or change her attraction to women. Pride month should be about celebrating all members of the LGBT+ community, not about making jibes like this.' JoJo recently hit back at Cyrus and shared to her fans in a lengthy post that she had reached out to the Flowers singer over the joke. At one point, she wrote: 'I don't believe what Miley said at world pride was ill intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha. 'Not what the world, or myself needs to hear any day of the week. I messaged miley light heartedly about it and she replied and said 'All love. Always . ❤️❤️❤️.' She continued, 'Love love love love love.❤️ People judge no matter what, and it can be very hard, especially when it comes from someone you love, and look up to… 'But if you feel happy and content with yourself, that's most important. You get one life… hold onto it, make it yours, find your happy, and love.'

EXCLUSIVE Inside JoJo Siwa's 'calculated' relationship with Love Island's Chris Hughes

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes 's relationship rollout has been branded 'calculated' by a celebrity publicist, as speculation continues to grow over whether the pair are in a genuine romance. The couple developed feelings for each other during a stint in the Celebrity Big Brother UK house in April but played coy over their relationship status in the weeks that followed – despite numerous cosy public outings. After igniting much suspicion, JoJo, 22, finally confirmed last week that she and Chris, also 22, are officially an item and that she's started calling him her boyfriend. But while JoJo and Chris seem every inch the doting couple, there are many who are unconvinced by their relationship. Sarah Schmidt is a celebrity publicist and president of PR firm, Interdependence and she believes that doubt over their partnership is due to the 'breadcrumbs' that JoJo and Chris's fans have been fed over the course of their journey together. Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail, she said: 'JoJo's relationship with Chris is either a brilliant PR strategy, or a real relationship being handled with PR care. 'Either way, it's a timely reset for her brand. JoJo has been publicly evolving, shedding the bows, embracing her queerness and redefining her artistry. 'Even if it started as genuine chemistry, the way it's been rolled out with breadcrumbs on social, teased in interviews, and confirmed only when the speculation peaked, it feels calculated. 'That's not a bad thing. It's smart. Because JoJo's not just selling a relationship, she's selling her reinvention.' has reached out to reps for comment. JoJo and Chris finally confirmed that they were dating last week following weeks of frenzied speculation. In an interview with Capital Radio, JoJo said: 'I'm sure it's no secret to people, I am in a lovely relationship with a sweet boy named Christopher Hughes.' She also gushed about her blossoming romance with Chris in an interview with The Guardian when asked whether things between them were still platonic. 'It's not platonic anymore, and it's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way,' she told them. For many, JoJo and Chris's partnership is unexpected, which again has aroused suspicion. When JoJo entered the ITV reality show, she was in a relationship with her now ex-partner Kath Ebb. She later dumped them at the wrap party just hours after the finale episode aired. JoJo's ex Kath was one of the first to accuse JoJo of a publicity stunt. Speaking to Betches about their breakup, Kath mused: 'I feel a bit like I've been this pawn that's been moved around in this story by Big Brother, by JoJo, by her PR team, by the tabloids. 'And I feel really beaten around by that because it's just not something I asked for. And I think at the end of the day, the boring headline is: I'm just heartbroken, and I've just gone through a really messy breakup that I didn't see coming, and I'm in shock, and I'm picking up the pieces of my love life and of my life in that.' Since then, JoJo has been spending time with 'soulmate' Chris in both the US and UK, having recently met his family. 'In today's celebrity ecosystem, visibility is survival, and few things hijack a narrative faster than an unexpected love interest — especially one that crosses markets, continents, and fan bases,' celebrity publicist Sarah added. She also said that both parties stand to gain from the romance. 'Chris gains international relevance, and JoJo reclaims control of her story,' she added. Earlier this week, it was reported that JoJo has been dropped by her record label, Columbia Records. JoJo had been signed to the record company in 2024, and she released her single Karma and EP Guilty Pleasure with the label. But less than a year later, the US reality star is no longer working with Columbia Records and released her latest song Bulletproof independently. The timing of the JoJo's contract with the label coming to an end mixed in with her already dubious relationship with Chris has added to the uncertainty. 'The public's suspicion isn't about homophobia or age gaps. It's about the timing,' Sarah noted. 'In entertainment, timing is everything. If you're dropped by your label and suddenly fall in love with a handsome British reality star, people are going to talk.

My date said I had one drink to impress him - so I downed it

It was 2007 and Indie Sleaze was at its peak. I was 24 and living with my parents in a small town where everyone knew everyone. I had just sacked off an are-we-aren't-we? situationship with Ronan*, one of my best boy mates that consisted largely of us sending each other deep-sounding Libertines lyrics and snogging in the pub during The Strokes tribute act. My only chance to find myself a hot, Indie-Sleaze boyfriend who would make Ronan jealous was online dating. So, I joined up to a site and typed in my requirements, which were essentially a trilby hat and slightly cleaner nails than Pete Doherty. Joel* got in touch after a few days. At 28 he was a few years older and looked like Luke out of the Kooks with his curly brown hair, band T-shirt and vintage denim jacket. We got to talking and had the same interests and tastes in music, so arranged to meet a week later at a gentrified, former-old-man-boozer one town over that played Up the Bracket on a loop. We got off to a bad start. Love reading juicy stories like this? Need some tips for how to spice things up in the bedroom? Sign up to The Hook-Up and we'll slide into your inbox every week with all the latest sex and dating stories from Metro. We can't wait for you to join us! He'd asked to meet outside the pub, rather than inside, and when I arrived five minutes late, having already warned him that my train had been stuck in a tunnel, Joel was checking his Nokia dramatically, clearly furious, arms folded and foot tapping in anger. 'I was literally about to leave. Being late's disrespectful, don't you think?' I stuttered an apology, because I hadn't yet realised I didn't owe this man anything, and we went inside to the bar. We were barely through the door before he started talking about Indie music. He was obsessed to the point where it was his entire personality. Within 30 seconds he'd asked me to name all the members of The Pigeon Detectives, and then their birthdays, to prove I was a 'real fan'. And I hadn't even had a drink yet. And as we propped ourselves up at the bar, he told me how he was in a band. Correction: He was the band. No gigs. No bandmates. Just him and his limitless artistic vision. 'I've not found anyone good enough to join yet,' he said. 'I'm not being arrogant, it's just no one else gets it. I could be famous right now, but I'm waiting for the right moment.' 'I'm a poet,' he continued. 'A proper one.' And at this moment he proceeded to dig a battered notebook out of his pocket. And read to me, completely deadpan with unrelenting eye contact, his lyrics about skinny jeans and smoking cigarettes. 'Oh, very good,' I said, trying to catch the bartender's attention to get that drink I knew I was going to need. Up close, Joel smelled slightly musty, like an old Oxfam coat. 'You actually look like your photo,' he said to me, happily. 'That's good. I was worried you'd be fat.' He followed that up with, 'Because, you're already too old for me. I never usually date women as old as you. Women peak at 25, scientifically.' I was four years younger than him. I was so gobsmacked at his arrogance that I stood there doing my best goldfish impression as he went on. 'I'm not sure if I fancy you yet. I'll get you a drink, and decide while you're drinking it.' I asked for a gin and tonic, which he ordered and handed over like he was doing me a massive favour, studying me as he did so. So, I did probably the only cool and quick-thinking thing I've done in my life: Took a breath, downed the whole thing in one, almost choked halfway through, slammed the glass down on the bar and said: 'I've decided that I don't fancy you.' So, How Did It Go? is a weekly series that will make you cringe with second-hand embarrassment or ooze with jealousy as people share their worst and best date stories. Want to spill the beans about your own awkward encounter or love story? Contact It was as if I'd slapped him, or stood on the bar and weed in a pint glass. Then I walked out, without looking back, leaving him gaping behind me like someone had just unplugged his amp mid-solo. He messaged me constantly for the next few weeks. He told me he still wasn't sure if he fancied me, but that he couldn't stop thinking about me. And that maybe he was in love with me? Oh, and that he could write songs about me – I just had to meet up with him again so he could decide properly. And of course, he sent me more of his poetry about Morrissey, vinyl and my lateness. More Trending I never replied to any of it. But I like to think there's now a Tinder bio of him out there, still looking for his perfect match, older, balding, with an aesthetically shot photo holding a guitar, and a bio that probably says: 'Poet. Visionary. Undiscovered genius. Looking for a girl who gets it.' If you see it, swipe left. *Names have been changed Do you have a story you'd like to share?
