'The aid reflects MOHE and PTPTN's concern for students in need of financial support to pursue their dreams,' he said at the presentation ceremony held at the university. Zambry said the aid was contributed by various parties through PTPTN and subsequently distributed to deserving students. He also encouraged parents to open National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) accounts for their children's future education needs. 'Parents can open an account as soon as their child is born and start saving gradually. Over time, the amount will grow and can later be used to fund higher education,' he said. Meanwhile, PTPTN, in a statement issued after the event, said since the programme's introduction in 2022, a total of RM981,000 has been disbursed to benefit 1,962 students across 16 public universities. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? 13MP plans align with Halatuju SMJ: Hajiji
Published on: Friday, August 01, 2025 Published on: Fri, Aug 01, 2025 Text Size: 'It also clearly reflects federal support to Sabah under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,' said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Kota Kinabalu: The State Government welcomes development programmes and fundings for Sabah under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) which is strongly aligned with the State's development blueprint, the Halatuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ). 'It also clearly reflects federal support to Sabah under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,' said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He was glad to note that several high-impact projects proposed by the State Government had been included in the 13MP. Among the proposed development projects were the expansion of critical utilities (water, sewerage, transmission), strategic infrastructure (roads, flood mitigation, health) and Blue Economy Hub. Under the 13MP, the Federal Government will also prioritise the Sabah-Sarawak-Kalimantan road network which augered well with the shifting of Indonesia's capital to Nusantara in East Kalimantan, he said. The others were intensive poverty alleviation strategies and support for digital transformation and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) resilience. 'The present State Government has set up a plan to ensure Sabah will continue to progress,' he said. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Special emphasis on Sabah, Sarawak
Published on: Friday, August 01, 2025 Published on: Fri, Aug 01, 2025 Text Size: Anwar said the initiative includes the development of the Sarawak Hydrogen Hub and the Sabah Energy Supply Guarantee — both aimed at strengthening the energy infrastructure in the two states. Kuala Lumpur: The Federal Government has placed special emphasis on elevating Sabah and Sarawak as Malaysia's competitive regional hubs for sustainable energy under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling the five-year plan in the Dewan Rakyat Thursday, said the initiative includes the development of the Sarawak Hydrogen Hub and the Sabah Energy Supply Guarantee — both aimed at strengthening the energy infrastructure in the two states. 'These efforts will attract high-impact investments and promote clean technology development, ultimately benefiting the people of Sabah and Sarawak,' he said. The government is also focusing on driving economic development in the east coast states of Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu by establishing a competitive, integrated national food production hub, expected to generate new economic opportunities, particularly for rural communities. Themed 'Melakar Semula Pembangunan' (Redesigning Development), the 13MP outlines the government's commitment to redesigning Malaysia's socio-economic development agenda for the 2026–2030 period. It aligns closely with the Malaysia Madani framework, a vision centred on human dignity, inclusivity, and sustainability. The plan sets out clear policies, strategies, and initiatives aimed at nation-building, improving public well-being, preserving environmental sustainability, enhancing governance, and positioning Malaysia for stronger regional and global economic growth. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Sabah Electricity welcomes SOGT maintenance rescheduling
Published on: Thursday, July 31, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jul 31, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Electricity (SE), in a statement on Thursday, welcomed the rescheduling of maintenance works at the Petronas-owned Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) from 1 August to 5 August this year. The adjustment allows two independent power producers (IPPs) more time to switch their operations from gas to diesel fuel. This transition process requires careful planning to maintain a stable electricity supply across the state. SE expressed appreciation for the cooperation shown by all parties involved in ensuring smooth preparations. It also hopes the IPPs will carry out their technical adjustments efficiently and on schedule to support system stability in Sabah. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
