Windsor firefighters, police responding to Kildare Road blaze
Windsor Fire and Rescue Chief Jamie Waffle says the blaze consists of a large number of wood pallets on fire.
No injuries have been reported, Waffle said, and people are asked to avoid the area and keep their windows closed.
Police said that Kildare Road is closed between Shepherd Street East and Seneca Street.

Suspended G1 driver pulled over in uninsured vehicle on Hwy. 417: OPP
OPP say the driver of this pickup truck had a suspended G1 licence and the vehicle was not insured. Aug. 12, 2025. (OPP/X) Ontario Provincial Police say a G1 driver whose licence was suspended was pulled over on Highway 417 Tuesday evening. Police said in a post on X that an officer's automatic licence plate reader caught an expired plate permit on a white pickup truck just before 7 p.m. The registered owner of the vehicle was in the passenger seat and was also a G1 driver, police said. The vehicle was also uninsured. G1 drivers must always have an accompanying driver with a valid G-class licence and at least four years of driving experience in the passenger seat. G1 drivers are also not permitted to drive on 400-series highways in Ontario with a posted speed limit over 80 km/h unless accompanied by a driving instructor. As a result, the driver of the vehicle is facing several charges and a minimum $2,000 fine for driving while suspended. The owner of the vehicle was charged with permitting someone to operate a vehicle without insurance and now faces a minimum $5,000 fine. The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

ATV use banned across N.L. until Sunday, as wildfire risk remains extreme
Riding an ATV is a big part of life for many people in Newfoundland and Labrador, but the provincial government has ordered people to park their machines until Sunday, at least. All ATV use has been prohibited in forested areas, including quads, side-by-sides, and dirt bikes. Premier John Hogan says there's no evidence any fires were caused by ATVs, but the ban is a necessary precaution.
