Oregon Ducks take over as frontrunner to sign 4-star offensive tackle

Yahoo27-06-2025
The positive recruiting news continues to pour in for the Oregon Ducks over the past month, with several top-rated players in the nation taking official visits to Eugene and strongly considering commitments to the Ducks.
Over the past couple of weeks, 5-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho has been trending to the Ducks, and this week, it appears that one of the other top OTs in the nation, 4-star Kelvin Obot, is doing the same as well.
According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, a pair of predictions have come down for Obot to choose the Ducks, from Nebraska Cornhuskers writers Bryan Munson and Sean Callahan. Nebraska is one of the schools in on Obot, so the writers likely received some intel that the Idaho product is trending towards a college career in the Pacific Northwest.
Obot has two pretty different ratings on 247Sports and On3. The former sees him as the No. 10 OT and No. 139 player in the 2026 class, while On3 rates Obot as the No. 3 OT and No. 9 overall player in the class.
Regardless of where the recruiting services view Obot, it's clear that the Ducks want him and hope to pair him with Iheanacho in the 2026 class, bookending their future tackle positions down the road. We will see if Oregon can secure his commitment over the likes of Utah, Nebraska, and Michigan, but if they do, it will be a massive victory.

NHL Insider Reveals Big Update on Ducks' Mason McTavish

NHL Insider Reveals Big Update on Ducks' Mason McTavish originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Anaheim Ducks entered the offseason looking to make some big changes to the roster. While the team has added some nice pieces, they also missed out on adding any of the big three free agents on the market. Advertisement Despite being armed with a lot of cap space, Anaheim wasn't able to close the deal. The Ducks did sign Mikael Granlund, who should help provide some needed offensive spark to this team. But the Ducks also have a few restricted free agents of their own to still deal with. Both Mason McTavish and Lukas Dostal remain on the open market, and there have been all sorts of rumors that Anaheim could let other teams go after them. The two players have been key figures for Anaheim, so the timing is a little weird. But according to NHL insider Jeff Marek, both McTavish and Dostal could be subject to getting offer sheets from teams. Advertisement If the Ducks were to let either player walk, it would be terrible asset management. But in all likelihood, both players will be back with Anaheim since they can match any offer that comes in. Dostal is likely to be the starting goalie for the Ducks this season after the team traded away John Gibson. The goalie proved himself last year, and Anaheim has been excited to see what he could do as the full-time starter. As for McTavish, it seems strange that Anaheim would give up on him so soon. The former third overall pick scored 22 goals and 30 assists for the Ducks this past season. McTavish has been subject to rumors, but the Ducks do value him. However, this is a strange situation, and it will be interesting to see how Anaheim plays this moving forward. Auburn Target 'Really Close' to Making a Decision

Auburn Target 'Really Close' to Making a Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Auburn Tigers need a recruiting win after recent developments with their commitments from the 2026 class. In June, Auburn lost linebacker commit Shadarius Toodle after he flipped to the Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers then had receiver pledge Denairius Gray flip to the Kentucky Wildcats on July 1. Advertisement On Sunday, On3's Chad Simmons reported that one of Auburn's targets is "really close" to making a decision. Four-star receiver Jase Matthews' finalists are Auburn, the LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels and Texas A&M Aggies. Adding Matthews would be a nice rebound after losing the likes of Gray. The Tigers no longer have receiver commits from the class after Devin Carter flipped to the Florida State Seminoles. My commitment should come before the season starts. I don't have a date set yet, but I am getting close.' Advertisement The prospect is the No. 10 wide receiver in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2026 class. Matthews is a native of Leakesville, Mississippi and attends Greene County High School. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ole Miss as the favorite, with a 35.7% chance to land Matthews. Auburn (23.5%) is in second, followed by LSU (10.2%) and Texas A&M (8.5%). Auburn's class is led by four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris, four-star athlete Peyton Falzone and three-star inside offensive lineman Parker Pritchett. Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze enters 2025 with an 11-14 record. Auburn opens the year with the Baylor Bears on August 29.
