Love Island's Shakira reveals real reason for villa feud with co-stars after Ofcom complaints

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Shakira Khan has spoken out about her feud with Meg and Helena in the Love Island villa just one day after she and Harry Cooksley finished as runners up on the reality show
Shakira Khan has revealed the real reason behind her infamous villa fallout with Meg and Helena on Love Island. The reality star, 22, was named as runner-up on this year's series of the ITV2 dating show alongside boyfriend Harry Cooksley but earlier on in the run, she developed a massive feud with two of her co-stars.

Explaining that she was made out to be a 'threat' to both Helena and Meg, she said: "What it stems from is on day one or day two I was put in a position where I had to graft and so was deemed as a threat. From then on, I was treated differently." Shakira struck up a friendship with Toni Laities, who eventually walked off with the £50,000 cash prize with boyfriend Cach Mercer.

She explained: "We sort of flocked together. When you are a threat to someone's relationship you are not going to be the best of pals." It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025.

In the days before the reality show reached the final, Shakira and Meg had a falling out on camera as they coldly told each other that they would 'never' be friends with one another on the outside world. And fans of the show quickly flooded social media with complaints that Shakira had fallen foul of the edit.
One wrote: "Why aren't they showing when Meg kept talking bad about Shakira? It's not fair that Shakira is getting all this heat because of what was shown yet Meg gets off Scott free producers do better!!!!!"

Another said: "so what's your beef with Toni & Shakira?" as it became clear that there were two very divided groups on the island.
Throughout the series, Ofcom received thousands of complaints from viewers for various reasons. Last week, over 9,000 complained, with many claiming that Shakira was being bullied.
And for many weeks over the course of the series' long run, Harry had been coupled up with Helena before starting up something of a love triangle and eventually moving on to Shakira. Heartbreaking scenes aired when both Helena and Shakira broke down as they were played and pitted against one another. The Grafties returned to the villa and there was even more heartbreak in store.

Shakira had decided to end things with Conor as she had "suppressed emotions" over Harry, whilst in the video clips, Harry was seen flirting with Shakira and said it was a "good idea" for them to get to know one another.
Harry later told Conor that he just felt a platonic connection with Helena and his bond with Shakira was far more "natural". Both women struggled to watch the scenes and broke down multiple times as they learned the truth.
Following the Grafties, Harry and Shakira decided to speak candidly to each other, with him telling her: "I have really tried with her [Helena], but we had like a week and it was, for me, the feelings were obviously way stronger and still are. I'm sorry I never like tried again. I really thought the door was just, like, slammed."
"Do you want some home truths… it's obviously the way you go about it and the steps you take in between to come to these conclusions obviously hurt people along the way," she told him.

Love Island star reveals he nearly QUIT show after feeling ‘lost and confused' by bombshell rows

A LOVE Island star has revealed that nearly quit the show after feeling 'lost and confused' by bombshell rows. Meg and Dejon were brutally dumped from the Love Island villa, when a group of 18 ex-Islanders were brought back to the villa to make their decision. 4 4 Meg and Dejon were an original couple, with the pair having first coupled up on day one of the hit series. The couple had a steady yet rocky time in the villa, with their relationship tested several time when Dejon wanted to get to know other women - and fans had their fair share to say about the romance. Now, the reality star has revealed how he nearly quit the show, after feeling 'lost and confused.' Talking to the Mail, Dejon said: 'As the show went on, I felt very lost. I felt very confused. I wanted to go home, really and truly, many times especially when me and Meg were really good and I knew she was for me and I was 100 per cent sure that we would work on the outside world, I wanted to go home. 'The viewers will have seen me joking around but they won't have seen that I have feelings, I have a lot of feelings, but it's hard for me to show them.' The 26-year-old continued: 'I usually deal with my feelings alone and I would cry alone in my room or by myself but when you're on TV and you're feeling upset and you know the whole nation is watching you but not only that, I'm living with people and there was no place to be by yourself and let things out. 'Harry really helped me with that, Meg, and Helena, she was going through her struggles, and that broke my heart, I had a lot of empathy, and I definitely feel I am a very empathetic person; I can definitely feel other people's pain.' The semi-pro footballer also spoke about his and Meg's negative experience coming out of the villa, revealing why they turned the comments off on their social media. 'I was away for altogether 10 weeks from the beginning to basically the end. I was in a bubble with no phone and not knowing what was happening on the outside world. Watch the moment Maya Jama takes savage swipe at another girl after Meg and Dejon miss out on Love Island final 'The first thing that I did when I got my phone back was speak to my friends and family, but my phone was flooded with backlash and hateful messages. 'It got so bad that me and Meg have both decided to turn the comments off, the messages we have both received are no good for our mental health. 'Everyone is coming for me online. I've had everything, death threats, racist comments, hateful comments, I've had everything you could think of.' After leaving the villa, Meg and Dejon and revealed their plan to 'prove everyone wrong'. LOVE ISLAND VOTING PERCENTAGES TONI and Cach won the Love Island 2025 final - yet what were the exact voting percentages? Las Vegas waitress Toni Laites and professional dancer Cach Mercer went head-to-head with OG islanders Shakira Khan and Harry Cooksley in a nail-biting finale. However, Toni and Cach were triumphant and won the summer series after surviving a love triangle just two weeks before the final. A results table shared on Love Island's Instagram account this afternoon showed Toni and Cach were the runaway winners on the night, taking over a third of the votes, with 33.5% of viewers backing them for the crown. However, Shakira and Harry drew a sizeable 26.2% of the votes, and Yas and Jamie were not far behind taking 22% on the nose. Aesthetics practitioner Angel, 26, only made her debut on July 17, but managed to secure an impressive 18.3% of the overall voting audience with Casa Amor boy Ty. When asked what was next for the pair, Meg, who recently sparked outrage by mentioning the cameras on the show, responded: 'Proving to everyone we are actually going to stay together! 'Spending time together and introducing one another to family and friends.' Dejon echoed her words, adding: 'I definitely want to have a conversation with her family, get to know them and have her meet my family so they can see the real us. 'A lot of the Islanders saw how genuine we were and I have no doubt it will be like that with our families. 'After that, hopefully we can move in together as I can't imagine not living with her.' 4 4
