Loyalty, Unity Core To Rebuilding UMNO
Unity and loyalty to the party when faced with current challenges forms the core to rejuvenating UMNO so that the party can be strong as it was previously, he added.
"We need to ensure we are always in a situation to maintain unity and the welfare of our party,' he said during his speech officiating the Bukit Gelugor UMNO Division delegates' meeting here today.

He also reminded members to accept the reality that no political party could be dominant on its own as before, so UMNO required solid support from its coalition partners in Barisan Nasional (BN) to face GE16.
Meanwhile, in KOTA TINGGI, Johor, UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid urged party members to not be complacent but to work hard to defend all seats won in the last general election and to seize seats back from their rivals.
'We cannot be complacent, we can't fantasise if we want to win the election. Victory doesn't come from false hope, it needs effort and strategy. We need to ensure existing Parliament and state seats remain ours, and at the same time look for ways to add other seats,' the Kedah UMNO chairman said during his speech officiating the Pengerang UMNO Division delegates' meeting here today.

Mahdzir urged UMNO members and supporters to not be easily deceived by fake news and slander but to rely on facts and to look for truth in the current challenging political landscape.
He cited the spread of slanderous news that could erode public confidence in UMNO leadership as one of the biggest challenges faced by the party.

Mandatory AI content labels mulled
Future forward: Fahmi giving a speech during the launch of the IPRM You & AI Festival 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama KUALA LUMPUR: The government is considering whether to make it a requirement to label artificial intelligence-generated content as 'AI generated' under the Online Safety Act 2024, which is expected to come into force by year-end, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. The Communications Minister said the move is crucial to address the misuse of AI, such as scams, defamation and identity impersonation, especially on social media platforms. 'We also believe platforms must be proactive in labelling AI-generated content,' Fahmi said at a press conference after attending the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia's (IPRM) programme YOU & AI: MEET@BANGSAR here yesterday, Bernama reported. Also present were Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industry) Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) director Roslan Ariffin and IPRM president Jaffri Amin. Fahmi noted that several social media platforms have voluntarily started to label AI-generated content, adding that such initiatives could be expanded regionally through cooperation among Asean countries. On concerns over the spread of fake videos and images generated by AI, Fahmi said there are currently no globally satisfactory regulatory guidelines in place. However, he added that active discussions are ongoing at the United Nations (UN) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU). 'I recently attended the AI for Good Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. Indeed, at both the UN and ITU levels, there is ongoing debate over who should be responsible for AI regulation. 'Certainly, at the national level, Parliament and ministries such as the Digital Ministry must lead. But we also recognise that every ministry has a role in assessing and evaluating AI use within its scope,' he said. Earlier in his speech, Fahmi stressed that AI cannot fully replace human roles. He urged the younger generation, especially Generation Alpha, to understand the benefits, challenges and limitations of AI, given that they are growing up in a world increasingly shaped by it.

Sabah Umno confident of Lahad Datu seats
Published on: Monday, July 14, 2025 Published on: Mon, Jul 14, 2025 By: Azmie Lim Text Size: Sitti Royani urged members to maintain unity and avoid division to strengthen the party, while Noraini emphasised the need for continued ground-level engagement to rebuild voter confidence in Umno and BN. LAHAD DATU: Umno is positioning itself for a strong comeback in the coming Sabah election in all four state constituencies in Lahad Datu. Lahad Datu Umno Wanita Chief Sitti Royani Rafael is confident that grassroots support and the party's organisational strength would contribute to victory in the coming state polls. She hopes Barisan Nasional (BN) will field candidates in all four state seats, namely Silam, Segama, Kunak and Tungku. 'Grassroots support remains intact. While we lost in 2018 and 2020, that is not an absolute measure,' she said at the Lahad Datu Umno Wanita Delegates Meeting held at the Dewan Chee Yee Khor. 'The 2018 defeat was due to a nationwide political tsunami, and in 2020 we faced coalition conflicts that were incompatible and detrimental,' she added. The meeting was officiated by national Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, with Sabah Umno Wanita Chief Datuk Noraini Idris also in attendance. Sitti Royani urged members to maintain unity and avoid division to strengthen the party, while Noraini emphasised the need for continued ground-level engagement to rebuild voter confidence in Umno and BN. Noraini said Umno-BN remains committed to listening to and advocating for Sabah's concerns at the Federal level. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? ‘Why should we be arrogant?': Pakatan-BN combo can win big in Sabah polls says Umno sec-gen
TANJONG KARANG, July 14 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) can secure a big win in the next Sabah state election if they join forces, based on trends in past elections, said Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. He said the cooperation between the two coalitions has become a benchmark, as this element was key to their significant wins in three state by-elections — Ayer Kuning in Perak, Mahkota in Johor and Nenggiri in Kelantan. 'We've seen how we managed to win in polling districts that we had never won before, particularly in areas with non-Malay majorities, all because of this cooperation. 'So why should we be arrogant and refuse to work with others? Umno is an open and dynamic party,' he told reporters after opening the Tanjong Karang Umno division delegates meeting here today. Asyraf Wajdi further said that negotiations between PH and BN for cooperation in the Sabah state election have reached 98 per cent completion. Meanwhile, Asyraf Wajdi said Umno is optimistic about recapturing the Tanjong Karang parliamentary seat in the 16th General Election (GE16). He said the seat is considered a priority after Umno's defeat in the last general election. 'To win, the formula is clear — we must return to Umno's core values: unity, loyalty and faith. Unity means there should be no factions within the party. 'Tanjong Karang was a seat we had never lost until the last general election. So, our focus is to make it one of the key seats to win back,' he said. In GE15, the Tanjong Karang seat was won by Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi of Perikatan Nasional with a majority of 2,180 when he polled 18,054 votes. Dr Zulkafperi, who is now an independent, beat BN's Datuk Habibah Mohd Yusof (15,874 votes) and PH's Siti Rahayu (12,314 votes). — Bernama
