Angels turn triple play when Shohei Ohtani lines out to Zach Neto and 2 Dodgers are caught off base
Miguel Rojas was on second and Dalton Rushing was on first for the Dodgers in the sixth inning when Ohtani hit a drive right up the middle past reliever Brock Burke.
Neto caught Ohtani's liner and stepped on second base in stride to get Rojas. Neto quickly threw to first, where Nolan Schanuel tagged out Rushing as the Dodgers rookie attempted to sneak back.
Rushing stepped awkwardly on first base and fell hard to the dirt after getting tagged, staying down for a long moment.
The Angels' triple play was their first since Aug. 18, 2023.
It also preserved a 5-5 tie in the latest edition of the Freeway Series. The Angels have won the first four games this season against the Dodgers.

France's Cernousek seizes lead at LPGA Portland Classic
Rising French talent Adela Cernousek conjured an eagle and six birdies in an eight-under-par 64 to break free atop a jammed leaderboard after the first round of the LPGA Portland Classic on Thursday. Henderson and Wang both nabbed seven birdies without a bogey, Henderson teeing off on 10 and launching her round with four straight birdies before adding three more coming in. Wang had five of her birdies on the back nine, including four in a row at 12, 13, 14 and 15. Lee5 had an eagle and six birdies with one bogey. Park had eight birdies to offset her lone bogey, as did Kaur. Five more players were tied on 66 and another eight on five-under 67. Juli Inkster, the 65-year-old LPGA Hall of Famer making a rare appearance on tour as she preps for the US Women's Senior Open, fired a three-under 69. "I was a little nervous teeing off," the 31-time LPGA winner admitted. "Settled in pretty good. You know, I actually thought I putted really well today. Gurriel, Rodriguez lead the resurgent Diamondbacks past the Rockies, 8-2
DENVER (AP) — Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a season-high seven innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 8-2 on Thursday night. Arizona improved to 60-62, winning for the sixth time in seven games and the ninth in 12. Rodriguez (5-7), who had allowed five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Rockies five days earlier, matched his longest outing since October 2023. He gave up one run and struck out six. Jose Herrera hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and Ketel Marte and also drove in two runs. The Diamondbacks have homered in 12 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors. They lead the majors with 24 homers since Aug. 2. Brenton Doyle and Kyle Farmer homered for the Rockies. Bradley Blalock (1-4) took the loss, giving up seven earned runs with four walks and no strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
