Ex Italy Coach Heaps Praise On Inter Milan Prodigious Striker: 'Gives Me Hope For The Future'

Former Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti has spoken highly of Inter Milan starlet Francesco Pio Esposito.
During an interview with RAI 2 via FCInterNews, Spalletti waxed lyrical about the prodigious center-forward.
After a superb breakout season at Spezia, the 20-year-old returns to San Siro as an established goalscorer.
Despite fierce competition for places at Inter, Esposito may have a prominent role next season.
Indeed, new manager Cristian Chivu has already made it clear he plans to hand the young gun a chance to prove his worth.
Therefore, the Serie A runners-up have fended off numerous offers for their sought-after striker.
Esposito will likely play second fiddle to Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez.
However, it's hard to rule him out as a potential starter, especially if the former fails to regain form.
Meanwhile, he looks set for a major role in Italy's national team.

'I watched Pio Esposito play and he gives me hope for the future,' Spalletti said.
'For my time as national coach, I have one regret, which is not having brought anyone up from Serie B.
'If I could go back, I would call someone from the second division.'
In addition to Esposito, Spalletti mentioned Parma teenager Giovanni Leoni during his interview.
'I had called some already, like Giovanni Leoni,' he said.
Leoni has been on Inter's radar since the start of the summer. However, Parma's €40 million price tag has slowed the Nerazzurri down.
Meanwhile, Spalletti offered his verdict on next season's Serie A title race.
'The favorites are the usual: Napoli, Inter, Milan, and Juventus.
'However, I hope there will be some teams that manage to get into the race, like Roma and Lazio.
'I'm happy about the return of Maurizio Sarri and Massimiliano Allegri, and I have great respect for both.
'I'm curious to see what Gian Piero Gasperini will do away from home in an important setting like Roma.
'Napoli has strong foundations; the club has done an excellent job. They are the favorites.'

Two fine goals from Braiden Graham seal Everton U21s come back win in Solihull

Solihull Moors 1 - 2 Everton U21s Everton Under-21s began their National League Cup campaign this evening with an excellent comeback win over Solihull Moors at Damson Park. The National League Cup – restructured last season to introduce Premier League 2 teams – sees the Toffees take on Solihull Moors, Tamworth, Brackley Town and Rochdale in the group stage. The home side got on the scoreboard with a really good strike into the top corner that beat George Pickford all hands down. Everton struggled to get back into the game, with Issac Heath hitting the bar before the break. Kingsford Boyake went off injured just before the break, being replaced by Braiden Graham, who scored two excellent goals late in the second half after being put through by great work from midfield. For the first goal, he took advantage of a defender, who slipped and lost the ball, to toe-poke it past the keeper low into the corner: And in the last minute, he grabbed a second to secure a win for Everton and avoid the penalty shoot-out, finishing with a fine dinked chip over the goalkeeper: Everton U21s: G Pickford; Finney, Tamen, Thomas (60' Van Schoor), Samuels-Smith; Bates, J Patterson, Boakye (41' Graham), Heath (60' Beaumont-Clark), Clarke (60' Morgan), Okoronkwo. Not sure of the score but Braiden Graham scored two goals after coming on as sub, one of them a really cracking goal. We never lost but not sure if it was 2-1 for or 2-2 more likely to be the win. Not having much luck embedding stuff from Twatter but the goals are well worth a look if you can get them to work. WATCH: John Metchie puts All-Pro defender on skates for 2 TD receptions in practice

John Metchie has been looking for a breakout season since he arrived with the Houston Texans out of Alabama in 2022. Is this the season where it all comes together? Plays like Tuesday against an All-Pro cornerback certainly help out the case. The fourth-year Texans receiver put Derek Stingley Jr. on skates on back-to-back plays during drills at Texans' training camp practice Tuesday morning for touchdown receptions. Both times, he won at the line of scrimmage before waltzing into the end zone for what would have been a score. Here's a look at the clip below. Oh, and the second rep might be even better than the first. Entering a contract season, Metchie is fighting to make the active roster after back-to-back underwhelming seasons. There's reasons to believe he could be the odd man out after a strong performance from Braxton Berrios in Saturday's preseason loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Plays like this, however, will make it challenging to cut ties with the former second-round pick. How he responds in Saturday's preseason outing against the Carolina Panthers could make or break his time in Houston beyond August. Cowes Sports secure victory thanks to 89th minute winner

Isle of Wight football team Cowes Sports secured an emphatic win against Tadley Calleva in the Hampshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, August 12. A steady start to the game saw chances at either end, with Cowes sustaining spells possession but opponents Tadley playing more long balls and counterattacking football. The visitors then broke the deadlock, capitalising on a misplaced Cowes pass which provided the opportunity for a cross for the mainland team's striker to head it across goal, making it 0-1. Going into half time behind, the Yachtsmen took Long off and brought on George Colson, before bringing on Scott McFarlane and Jimmy Mumford shortly into the second half. Tadley's short free kick from their box was to end in disaster, as Jordan Cook gained possession, passing to SCOTT MCFARLANE who levelled the match. A disallowed goal for the visitors set the tone, as Cowes felt momentum shifting away from them. However, it was to be the Yachtsmen's night, as Colson drew Tadley's centre-back out of position, passing to SCOTT MCFARLANE for his brace and to win Cowes the match. Ryan Hughes was awarded man of the match. The Island team progress into the next round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
