Alicia Vikander recalls 'struggle' to get pregnant

Yahoo22-03-2025

Alicia Vikander faced a "struggle" to get pregnant. The 36-year-old actress - who has two sons, who were born in 2021 and 2024, with husband Michael Fassbender - went through an "obsession" with having a child when she didn't conceive as quickly as she'd have liked, and recalled putting "pressure" on herself. Alicia can next be seen in 'The Assessment' as an assessor spending a week with a couple in the dystopian near future to determine their suitability as parents and told how one of her "first conversations" with director Fleur Fortune was about her "struggle to get pregnant". She added to People magazine: "That lasted for quite a long time before I had my first son. "[I remember] both pressure that I put on myself and the hard times I went through, but also the kind of dedication [to having a child]. "It was almost like an obsession by the end, which I think, after speaking to a lot of other people [who went through it], is something that we all share. "So I think even though, of course, this film and story is taking itself to a far extent when it comes to its imagination, it's still at its core, feelings that I think a lot of people can relate to." Alicia previously discussed how parenthood had changed her acting because it gave her "new emotions" to draw on. Discussing her role in 'Firebrand', she told Britain's HELLO! magazine: 'As an actor, I think you always draw on your own life experiences and fantasies as well as your imagination. 'I had played a mother before I became a parent myself. 'I gave birth on screen three times before I gave birth for real. 'I definitely feel you get access to endless new emotions to draw on the second you become a parent. 'It impacted the way I did this film, for sure.' And the 'Tomb Raider' star previously revealed she had suffered a "painful" miscarriage. She told The Times newspaper: "We have a child now, but it took us time." She also compared her experiences to her 2016 movie 'The Light Between Oceans' in which she starred opposite Michael playing a childless couple who adopt a baby girl who is lost at sea. Alicia added: "[The miscarriage] was so extreme, painful to go through and, of course, it made me recall making that film [The Light Between Oceans]. That film has another meaning now."

Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano reveals shocking details about nearly losing her eye after being shot in face

Christy Carlson Romano is speaking out about nearly losing an eye after she was shot in the face four months ago. During an appearance on the upcoming June 10 episode of the 'Not a Damn Chance!' podcast, via a sneak peek by People magazine, the 41-year-old former Disney star recalled the terrifying incident while she was shooting clay pigeons with her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his birthday. Asked how it happened, Romano explained she was not 'at liberty to say specifics,' according to People. The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano shared details for the first time about what transpired. 'It's a birdshot that got sprayed in my direction by another party, and essentially it was within 200 feet, which means really fast and hot,' she told hosts Neen Williams and Frankland Lee. 'They weren't malicious,' Romano clarified. 'It wasn't aggravated assault. It's what happened.' The 'Even Stevens' star then emphasized the importance of gun safety and described her initial response. 4 Christy Carlson Romano sits in the hospital after being shot in the face at a party in February, 2025. 'I feel very out of body about it. … It's pretty wild,' she said. 'I'm shocked, and what goes through my head immediately is, 'Oh that's dope, I just got shot.' And then I go, 'Oh now I'm gonna die,'' she said. 'I take a knee. My husband witnessed it and was like, 'Hey are you hit?' because I didn't scream. I didn't do anything. I was just out of body.' Romano recalled she had a knee-jerk reaction upon being shot that stemmed from her time on the third season of the FOX reality TV series 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.' 4 The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano explained that the contestants were trained to give a thumbs-up to let their fellow cast members know that they were OK during the series' perilous challenges. The 'Kim Possible' alum recalled that, out of habit, she gave Rooney a thumbs-up immediately after she was shot. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're good.' And I was like, 'No I'm hit.' He goes, 'Oh s—,'' Romano recalled of her husband's reaction. She remembered that Rooney rushed to her aid and had to restrain himself from retaliating against the other party. 4 Christy Carlson Romano and Hillary Duff in a scene from 'Cadet Kelly.' ©Disney Channel/Courtesy Everett Collection 'So, he's running to me and making sure I'm OK, and he's fighting the urge to hurt the person … but he's been practicing stoicism recently, and there was something in him,' Romano recalled. 'He was immediately into action mode, evaluating me and ran to get the car. 'I felt this huge rush that I'd never felt before where I was starting to get really woozy. I think it was shock.' Romano told the hosts she didn't experience any pain initially and described the thoughts that were running through her head, including her fears her children might be affected. The actress shares daughters Isabella, 7, and Sofia, 5, with Rooney. 'I was covered in blood from my forehead … and I said three things. I was like, 'Am I gonna die? Who's gonna take care of the girls? Is my career over?'' she recalled. Romano explained that she came close to being blinded or killed. 'If my head would've been tilted in any other direction, I would have been blind in my right eye. Or if I had turned my head, I could have gotten hit in a softer side of my skull, and I would have potentially been dead,' Romano said. 'It's still in my eye,' she said of the pellets from the shotgun. 'I have a fragment still in my forehead, and I have a fragment still behind my eye, which is 1 millimeter away from blinding me.' Romano previously explained on Instagram that the lead fragment behind her eye had to remain in her face because removing it could leave her blind. 4 Christy Carlson Roman poses for a picture during a family trip to Disneyland in May 2025. Christy Carlson Romano/Instagram The shot fragment lodged in her skull will also remain in place because doctors said it will expedite her healing process. During her podcast interview, Romano told hosts she put on a brave face at first and was making jokes about her medical crisis after she arrived at the hospital. 'In retrospect, I was trying to be funny and not cry because I wanted the people around me to feel more calm so that they could take better care of me,' Romano said. The former Broadway star admitted that it has been difficult to accept she is a 'gunshot survivor.' Clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport in which upside-down circular disks made of limestone and pitch used as targets are propelled into the air by machines called traps. Shooters use shotguns, with each shot projecting hundreds of small lead balls to hit the clay pigeons. The sport is typically not considered dangerous as long as safety measures are follow.

Olivia Munn reveals she ‘felt like an expectant father' while waiting for her daughter to arrive via surrogate

Olivia Munn knows that in the end it worked out exactly as it should. Although while the actress, 44, was waiting for the arrival of her second child, daughter Méi, now 8 months, via surrogate, she wasn't sure she felt totally connected. Munn, who also shares son Malcom, 3, with husband John Mulaney told People in an interview published Saturday, that waiting for Méi to be born 'was the first time I was like, 'Oh wait, is this what it's like to be an expectant dad?'' Olivia Munn / Instagram 'A lot of times people say, 'Oh, the dads don't really connect with the baby until it's right there in front of them,' ' she explained. 'The dads, they're not carrying the baby. I carried Malcolm, so I understood from the very genesis, like, okay, I've got a life in me. Your body is changing and your energy is changing and your hair is changing and everything's changing, so it feels very real all the time.' This time around, Munn and Mulaney, 42, opted for a surrogate after the 'Buddy Games' alum underwent a double mastectomy and hysterectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis. Advertisement 'Even though it all felt very real for me, and our surrogate and I spoke all the time and she'd send me videos, it was a little bit of, 'Oh wait, she's coming,'' Munn continued. 'I felt like an expectant father.' 'It was important to do it at that moment, but it was also scary because my type of cancer feeds on hormones, and there are a lot of hormone injections with IVF,' the 'Your Friends & Neighbors' star said about deciding to do an egg retrieval before her cancer surgeries. After the procedure, Munn shared she was able to retrieve seven eggs, with two of the embryos being 'strong enough to be tested for abnormalities and the gender.' I know this puts me at risk, but I just need you to support me,' ' Munn recounted. 'He said, 'Whatever you need.' ' The Hollywood vet's doctor then called and confirmed she had two healthy female embryos. As Munn put it, 'that was a sign for me everything was going to be okay.' Oliviamunn/Instagram And when it came to choosing a surrogate to carry their daughter, one thing in particular mattered most: 'The number one thing that I wanted in a surrogate was someone who was kind.' She added, 'I just wanted her to be kind, and I needed her to understand that this is a path that I had to go on. This is not a choice I would've made for myself.' 'The first thing I worried about was if I would be able to find somebody who would love and take care of my daughter as much as I would,' Munn went on. Mulaney noted that 'it wasn't just the courage of it. She also was just giving us — it's always just her greatest best self throughout it.'

Prince Edward Could Predict ‘Desperately Lonely' Harry's Future Amid Reports Charles' Funeral May Be the Last Time He Ever Sees His Family Again

Recent news about the British Royal family paints a very complicated picture of the dynamics. King Charles is very sick, and there are reports that succession plans are already underway. He and Prince Harry are reportedly not on speaking terms. Neither are Prince Harry and Prince William. And recent reports indicate Kate Middleton might be trying to fix the rift, after Harry said he wanted a reconciliation in a recent interview. Prince Harry wanting more of a connection with his family might be a new development, but it's certainly not a surprising one. Recent reports indicate that though Harry is living in a beautiful home with his wife and children, he is still 'desperately lonely,' according to friends. More from StyleCaster Duchess Sophie Subtly Took a Side in William & Harry's Feud Amid Reports He Caused 'Irreparable Harm' to the Royals Charles' Funeral Could Be the Last Time Harry & William Ever See Each Other Again Amid Claims There's 'No Turning Back' in Their Feud Related: Did William really cheat on Kate? Newsnation went deep into this, explaining the dynamics of Harry's friend circle, and how that makes him similar to the infamous Prince Edward. 'He doesn't really have any real friends in the area except for (fellow polo player) Nacho (Figueras) and Nacho travels constantly for polo matches,' one friend told the outlet. 'He is still very close with the 'band of brothers' who were at his wedding — particularly Guy Pelley and Mark Dyer, but… they live in England and the time zones are so different it's very hard to talk regularly. And again, there is no one for him to hang out with (in person) besides Nacho when he is in town or Meghan and the children. He spends a lot of his time chilling with his bodyguards.' Prince Harry reportedly 'has one foot in the past,' People magazine reported, which the outlet said translates to how 'It's harder to forge deep friendships with people when you're older, especially if you're wary they may speak to the press.' For some, this is very familiar. 'It's like history is repeating itself,' the friend also told NewsNation, referencing Edward VIII, later known as the Duke of Windsor, after he gave up being king to marry Wallis Simpson. After he abdicated, he reportedly had very little contact with the royal family and spent most of his time with his wife in Paris. The two were considered outcasts, and Edward VII only met with his brother King George a few times after his abdication, briefly and without his wife. This comes after reports that Harry's relationship with William is irrevocably broken. Fox News reported that sources don't expect the brothers to see each other again unless Charles dies. 'The funeral of Charles would be the first time that courtiers would imagine [them reuniting],' the outlet said. 'I can't imagine William would invite Harry to his coronation.' According to People, 'Meghan wishes her husband could feel less burdened by the past and more present in the life they've built together.' But Newsnation's source disputed that. 'Please — look how easily she cut her own father out of her life after he displeased her. She's good at it. She is fine never speaking with her father again. Harry is not. England was his entire life — of course he has a foot in the past. He is lonely and misses his friends and family. He used to be able to call people up, go have a pint and hang out anytime. He can't do that now. Now he just has his bodyguards.' This explains Harry's recent interview, where he said, 'I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.' Now, whether a reconciliation is truly in the cards or not, remains to be seen.
