During a high-level meeting at the VMRDA office, Anitha was joined by Associate Ministers Atchannaidu, DBV Swamy, BC Janardhan Reddy, and Angani Satya Prasad to discuss the upcoming Yoga Andhra celebrations scheduled for the 21st of this month.
Anitha highlighted that the Yoga Day will be celebrated with great prestige, noting that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is personally overseeing the arrangements. An ambitious target of five lakh participants has been set for the event. "We are progressing towards transforming Andhra Pradesh into a healthier state. Yoga is India's gift to the world, and it is an integral part of life," she remarked.
Preparations include the establishment of 326 compartments and the installation of over 2,000 CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of participants. Anitha assured that measures are being implemented to manage traffic effectively and to prevent any incidents. Each participant will receive a yoga mat, a t-shirt, and an ORS bottle. In anticipation of possible rain, a contingency site has been arranged at Andhra University.

Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 18 (ANI): The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday conducted a high-level review meeting at the VMRDA office in Visakhapatnam to finalise preparations for the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21. The event, which is expected to attract a record turnout of five lakh people, will be held with massive arrangements in place to ensure smooth execution. The meeting was attended by Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha, Achennaidu, DBV Swamy, BC Janardhan Reddy, and Angani Satya Prasad, along with MP Bharat, coalition MLAs from Uttarandhra, and several other public representatives. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha addressed the press after the meeting and shared major details about the event. 'The people of Visakhapatnam are fortunate to organise the 11th International Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam,' she said. She added that the state government had taken the International Yoga Day very seriously and that the Chief Minister supervised the arrangements. Highlighting the significance of the event, she said, 'Yoga is a gift from India to the world. Yoga is a part of life. We are moving Andhra Pradesh towards a healthy Andhra Pradesh.' To ensure proper management of the event, officials said that 326 compartments had been prepared to accommodate participants. More than 2,000 CCTV cameras were installed across the venue to monitor the crowd and maintain security. 'We are taking precautions to avoid traffic problems. We are taking steps to prevent any untoward incidents,' Anitha stated. As part of the government's health and safety measures, each participant will be provided with a yoga mat, a T-shirt, and an ORS bottle. In case of rain, the event will be shifted to Andhra University (AU) without delay. 'If it rains, we will set up in the AU without any problem,' the Home Minister said. K'taka govt gears up for International Yoga Day, announces grand plans
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced that it is all set to host a grand event to mark International Yoga Day on June 21 this year. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21 at the Vidhana Soudha steps with the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." Rao further stated that, 'This year, about five lakh people will be taught yoga across the state. The government plans to organise 10,000 yoga programmes state-wide, with a large-scale event specifically planned in Mysuru.' Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Governor, and other dignitaries are expected to participate in the event, with an anticipated attendance of five thousand people. Emphasising the importance of yoga for health, both physically and mentally, he underlined that Yoga has ancient roots and its prominence is growing globally. Regarding the introduction of yoga classes in schools, he mentioned that discussions have already taken place. He stated that yoga teachers and classes in schools will yield definite benefits. However, Rao further stressed that sports should be prioritised for children at a young age. He further opined that teaching yoga when children are older would yield better results. The sports teachers should be given higher priority than yoga teachers in schools, he opined.
