"Yes, I bought them because I'm back at work now after having a baby, and working in the same apartment as my baby! He always has someone else taking care of him, whom I trust, but I can still hear him cry from behind my closed door, which intensely stresses me out — pressure on my chest, accelerated heart rate, the whole nine yards. When I slip these on and turn on some white noise or music, I can't hear him at all anymore, so that stress melts away and I can focus on work. "I am a certified pickle girlie, and Grillos is absolutely my go-to grocery store pickle brand. I can confirm they are absolutely fire, and if proof is what you're looking for, please know my between-meetings lunch today was like half a jar of their classic dill pickle spears, which I ate over the sink like a gremlin. They've got the perfect snap, just the right sourness, and don't get floppy or soggy like other brands I've tried in the past. I cannot recommend them enough.
I'm also a big snacker, and I've been making it my goal this year to be a little more intentional with what I'm snacking on. Hippeas chickpea puffs have become a snacktime staple for me — they scratch that itch in my brain that a bag of chips does, but don't make me (or my tummy) feel quite as icky. They're filling, they're deliciously crunchy, and I love that they're vegan and gluten-free, so I don't have to think twice about putting them out when I've got friends with different dietary restrictions over.
So, naturally, when Hippeas and Grillos reached out to me about their collab, to say I was stoked was an understatement. It was like they made these just for me, honestly. Dill pickle-flavored foods can be pretty hit or miss (sometimes they just taste like sour ranch?? That's not a pickle!), but they absolutely nailed that classic Grillo's flavor here. They're crunchy, bursting with flavor, and surprisingly filling. The pickle flavor is front and center, with the perfect balance of sourness, saltiness, and dill. I enjoyed snacking on them alone, but I'm already planning out how I can incorporate them in the perfect cheese board this spring.
