Trent Alexander-Arnold filmed wild Premier League title celebrations at party

Yahoo23-04-2025

Trent Alexander-Arnold could look to replicate his exuberant celebrations from Liverpool's title success in 2020 should the Reds be crowned Premier League champions on Wednesday.
Arne Slot's side will officially secure a first league title in five years with victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday but the job could already be done by then should Arsenal fail to beat Crystal Palace. The Gunners trail Liverpool by 13 points and only a victory against the Eagles will ensure they delay the title celebrations on Merseyside for a few more days.
Should Mikel Arteta's outfit drop points against their London rivals, however, then the league will be Liverpool's. While the Reds would likely much rather get the job done in front of their own fans with a win over Tottenham this weekend, there are sure to be celebrations amongst the squad on Wednesday nonetheless.

Just like in 2020, when Liverpool's first-team squad gathered at nearby Formby Hall in Lancashire to watch Chelsea defeat Manchester City to confirm them as champions, members of the Reds first-team are likely to be watching Arsenal's game with Crystal Palace in case the same happens once more.
Should this be the case, then Reds fans are likely to be keeping a keen eye on Alexander-Arnold's social media if his 2020 celebrations are anything to go by. Following Liverpool's title success under Jurgen Klopp half a decade ago, the Reds right-back documented the joyous scenes on his Instagram account, much to the enjoyment of adoring Kopites watching on.
From waving scarves and jumping up and down in unison to belting out 90s dance anthem "Show Me Love", fans were given an insight into exactly how their favorite players toasted the biggest night of their career. At a time when Covid-19 restrictions were in place, Alexander-Arnold's social media posts were one of the few things supporters could access.
Having initially gathered at the hotel to watch Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Man City at Stamford Bridge on a big screen, the players - after speaking to the media - soon moved on to a championship celebration, accompanied by their wives. Soon enough, various pictures and videos emerged on the players' social media accounts, showing off the momentous occasion.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Virgil van Dijk posted selfies with their fellow teammates, breaking into cheers upon the final-whistle at Stamford Bridge, while striker Divock Origi soon posted a picture of the drinks on offer for the players behind the bar. Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, and Adrian smiled with a large bottle of Carlsberg.
The big party also saw Liverpool's players wearing pre-printed red t-shirts that read, "Champions 19-20", on them which was further evident in videos on Alexander-Arnold's Instagram story as players danced through the night inside a red-lit room. Eventually, those shirts became soaked through with various drinks.
Meanwhile, thousands of fans gathered on the streets outside Anfield to host their own celebrations, where red flares lit up the night sky and supporters boomed out chants until the early hours. Should Wednesday's fixture between Arsenal and Crystal Palace go in Liverpool's favor, then the same can be fully expected to happen once more.

Son hails sacked Postecoglou as 'a Spurs legend'

Ange Postecoglou (C) sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager has transformed the club said South Korean star Son Heung-Min (Glyn KIRK) Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min said Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked as manager on Friday, had 'changed the trajectory of this club' by delivering their first silverware in 17 years. Postecoglou guided Tottenham to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final last month to clinch the club's first European prize in 41 years and secure a place in next season's Champions League. Advertisement But the 59-year-old Australian paid the price for Tottenham's worst domestic season since they were relegated from the top flight in 1976-77. Tottenham lost 22 of their 38 Premier League games to finish 17th in the table, above only relegated trio Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton. Son, though, in an effusive tribute on Instagram said Postecoglou had transformed the club. "Gaffer. You've changed the trajectory of this club," wrote Son. "You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did. "You knew what we were capable of all along. You did it your way. And your way brought this club the best night it's had in decades. We will have those memories for life." Advertisement Son, who has seen five managers sacked in the past six years by chairman Daniel Levy, said he had formed a close relationship with Postecoglou during his two year tenure. "You trusted me with the captaincy," said the 32-year-old Korean star. "One of the highest honours of my career. It's been an incredible privilege to learn from your leadership up close. "I am a better player and a better person because of you. "Ange Postecoglou, you are a Tottenham Hotspur legend forever. Thank you, mate." Tottenham were ravaged by injuries and in the latter stages of the campaign Postecoglou focused on keeping his key players fit and fresh for the Europa League. Advertisement The gamble paid off but even securing Tottenham's first trophy since the 2008 League Cup was not enough to save the former Celtic handler. Brentford boss Thomas Frank, Fulham manager Marco Silva, Crystal Palace's FA Cup winning handler Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola are reportedly the leading candidates to replace Postecoglou. pi/ea

Arsenal ‘advancing' in Benjamin Sesko transfer talks

Arsenal are advancing in talks to sign Benjamin Sesko but no agreement has been reached with RB Leipzig. Sesko has emerged as the leading target for Arsenal as the Gunners look to sign a centre-forward this summer. Arsenal failed with a move to sign the Slovenian striker 12 months ago but have returned with renewed interest. Advertisement Despite signing a new deal last summer, Sesko is now keen to leave Germany after Leipzig's failure to secure European qualification. The 22-year-old has a release clause of around €80m (£67.4m) in his contract but Arsenal are hopeful of negotiating a lower fee. However, any deal is expected to represent a club-record fee for a centre-forward, eclipsing the £56m spent to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2018. Arsenal progressing in Sesko transfer talks Fabrizio Romano has revealed that negotiations between the clubs are progressing but no agreement is expected imminently. Arsenal are relaxed on the situation and have also assessed the cost of signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon. Sesko is a player endorsed by the recruitment team with the forward regarded as one of Europe's best number nine prospects. Advertisement He has scored 39 goals in 87 games since joining Leipzig from sister-club Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 and has netted 16 times in 41 caps for Slovenia. At five years younger than Gyokeres, Sesko is viewed as a more sensible long-term addition. The 6ft 5in forward would offer Arsenal an out-and-out forward presence, though Arteta remains a big believer in Kai Havertz's ability to fulfil the role. Havertz scored 13 goals in 27 starts for Arsenal before a hamstring injury sustained in February decimated the latter half of his 2024/25 campaign. Liverpool winger Chiesa keen on Italy return this summer

Federico Chiesa is keen to leave Liverpool and return to Italy in this summer's transfer window. Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus last summer for a fee of £10.9m. However, the winger failed to break into Arne Slot's plans and started just four games across all competitions. He featured for just 104 minutes in the Premier League and is keen to secure regular first-team football. Despite happiness at the club, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chiesa is targeting a return to Serie A in search of minutes. Advertisement Chiesa discussed his future to Corriere dello Sport and said he will sit down with his agent and family this summer. Despite a lack of football, he did not rule out remaining at Anfield. 'The year is over. But it's an experience I would do again,' Chiesa said. 'Soon I will sit down at the table with the club, (my agent) Fali (Ramadani) and my family to find the best solution. I wouldn't mind staying in Liverpool at all.' Several Italian sides have made initial contact for the 27-year-old, who wants to reclaim his place with the national team ahead of next summer's World Cup. Chiesa has not been included in the Italy squad since Euro 2024. Advertisement Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and the addition of another attacker could free Chiesa's exit. Napoli, Inter Milan and former club Fiorentina have all been linked with a move to sign the winger.
