AI startup that Mark Zuckerberg paid $14 billion 'leaked' sensitive data of Google, Elon Musk's xAI and Facebook: What the company has to say
Scale AI, the
AI startup
that is a key partner for companies like
Meta
and xAI, is facing scrutiny after a report revealed that the company has been exposing sensitive client and contractor data through publicly accessible
Google Docs
. The findings, released by Business Insider, raise serious questions about
Scale AI
's security practices and its commitment to
client confidentiality
.
The report uncovered thousands of pages of project documents across 85 individual
Google
Docs, some containing highly confidential information related to Scale AI's work with major tech clients.
Documents show information on training data related to Google and Elon Musk's xAI
These documents included details on how Google utilised ChatGPT to refine its Bard chatbot, as well as at least seven 'confidential' instruction manuals from Google outlining issues with Bard and how contractors should address them.
For Elon Musk's xAI, public documents revealed specifics of "Project Xylophone," including training materials and 700 conversation prompts aimed at enhancing the AI's conversational abilities on diverse topics.

Similarly, Meta training documents, marked confidential, were found publicly accessible, containing links to audio files demonstrating "good" and "bad" speech prompts for their AI products.
Contractors reported that despite attempts at codenaming, it was often easy to identify the client they were working for due to the nature of the tasks or even explicit company logos embedded in presentations. Some even said they could determine the client simply by prompting the AI model directly.
Contractor data also exposed: Report
Beyond client information, Scale AI also left sensitive personal data belonging to thousands of its contractors exposed in unsecured Google Docs. Spreadsheets, readily viewable by anyone with the URL, listed private Gmail addresses, work performance details, and even categorized some workers as 'high quality' or suspected of 'cheating.'
Scale AI responds to report on 'leaking' data
In response to the publication's findings, Scale AI stated it takes
data security
seriously and is investigating the matter.
'We are conducting a thorough investigation and have disabled any user's ability to publicly share documents from Scale-managed systems,' a spokesperson said.
"We remain committed to robust technical and policy safeguards to protect confidential information and are always working to strengthen our practices," the spokesperson added.
The revelations come on the heels of Meta's blockbuster investment in Scale AI. However, clients including Google, OpenAI, and xAI reportedly paused work with Scale AI following Meta's investment.

Rs 938 crore lost to cybercrooks since Jan
Bengaluru: As the financial landscape races ahead in its digital journey, a chilling new report warns of the dark flipside: Artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly emerging as the most-dangerous weapon in the cybercriminal's arsenal. In the first five months this year, Rs 938 crore was lost to cybercriminals across the state and a whopping 6,000 cases were registered. Data collated by state police shows cybercrooks made away with Rs 2,396 crore in 2024, Rs 562 crore in 2023 and Rs 113 crore in 2022. The state is seeing over 22,000 cybercrime cases per year. What is interesting is that a majority of them have been committed by deploying AI tools. "Cybercrimes are increasingly penetrating society, targeting even vulnerable senior citizens. Awareness must be created to educate society about the emerging threats," said DG&IGP MA Saleem after releasing "The State of AI-Powered Cybercrime: Threat & Mitigation Report-2025'. The report highlights how cybercriminals are leveraging AI to craft phishing emails, clone websites and even spin up deepfake-driven scams. AI tools were involved in 80% of phishing mails, which, in other words, means that they were deployed in 8 out of every 10 phishing campaigns. "AI is transforming the cybercrime landscape, enabling attackers to execute faster, targeted and personalised attacks like never before," the report warned. "This report is a wake-up call. It doesn't just document cyber threats, it reveals the human cost behind them," said Jay Vijayan, founder and CEO of Tekion.

Startup CEO says Google had everything ..., yet OpenAI beat them to the LLM Gold Rush, Elon Musk's 'one-word' reply
An online debate over AI race of Silicon Valley reignited recently. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also presented his point of view on the debate with a one-word response. Recently, a US federal judge ruled that Anthropic and AI company did not break any copyright laws while training AI model Claude using books. The judge pointed out that the use of books was a fair step and an AI model does not copy or reproduce books but it learns from them and then generate original content. Soon after the judgement, an online debate started on X (formerly known as Twitter). A startup CEO Luis Batalha has asserted that Google , despite possessing "everything" needed, was ultimately outmaneuvered by OpenAI in the burgeoning Large Language Model (LLM) "gold rush." 'Google had everything: the transformer, massive compute, access to data, even Google Books - yet OpenAI beat them to the LLM gold rush. Having the pieces isn't the same as playing the game,' wrote Batalha. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also supported the sentiment with a one-word reponse 'True'. Originally Google has been at the forefront of AI research. The company has published seminal papers and has also developed advanced models. However, with the launch of ChatGPT , OpenAI managed to capture imagination of millions and ignited the current "LLM Gold Rush," forcing other tech giants to accelerate their own public-facing generative AI initiatives. Critics suggest that Google's cautious approach, perhaps due to its established market position and the potential risks of deploying rapidly evolving AI, allowed a leaner, more focused entity like OpenAI to seize the early lead.

When Morgan Freeman said he is a ‘huge fan' of Elon Musk: ‘What he's done, nobody else has ever…'
Morgan Freeman once expressed deep admiration for Tesla CEO Elon Musk. 'I'm a huge fan of Elon Musk ,' Freeman said in a 2016 CNBC interview. 'I think he's got the most incredibly forward-thinking ideas about where we can go technologically. What he's done, nobody else has ever done,' he further added. At the time, Musk's company had just achieved what many thought impossible: landing a rocket so it could be used again. Freeman didn't hold back his admiration. He then said 'He's landed a rocket ship so it's reusable. You know what a feat that is?'. He spoke not just about innovation, but about vision. 'Now we're taking off,' Freeman added. 'We're going to be going to Mars, delivering stuff to people who are going to be settling there just like they settled the old West… and bringing those ships back and landing them, and reloading them.' Years later, Musk's plans for Mars colonies and interplanetary logistics remain in motion — and Freeman's praise sounds strikingly prescient. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's Why So Many US Homeowners Are Waterproofing Their Basements Basement Waterproofing Solutions Learn More Undo Time and again, Musk has publicly talked about his mission to go on Mars. So much so that he has shared his suggestion for the name of the first city on the Red Planet. 'Elon Musk says the first city on Mars will be named 'Terminus',' a post said on X. Replying to the post, Musk not only confirmed the name but also provided information on why he chose it, saying that it will ultimately depend on the residents of Mars to name their city. 'It's from Asimov's Foundation. But I'm open to other ideas,' Musk said. 'Ultimately, it will be up to the people of Mars to decide,' he added. Elon Musk's plan to land on Mars Elon Musk says his Starship rocket could head to Mars by the end of next year. The mission will carry Tesla's robot, Optimus, but no people — it's just a test. If these early robot missions go well, Musk believes humans could start going to Mars as soon as 2029. But he thinks 2031 is a more likely year for the first crewed trip.
