Some Good News For ‘Ransom Canyon' Fans As Netflix Drops Season 2 Announcement
These days, getting a series renewed at Netflix is far from a safe bet. Even shows that seem like sure things are on the chopping block. It's always nice when a new Netflix Original bucks the odds and gets greenlit for a second season.
Mindhunter, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, GLOW, I Am Not Okay With This, Lockwood & Co, Santa Clarita Diet, Shadow & Bone . . . the list of cancelled Netflix shows that didn't get to actually finish telling their stories is long and depressing. The fact that we won't get a new season of Norsemen still saddens me to no end.
But while many premature deaths await Netflix series, sometimes we get a piece of good news.
Such is the case for Netflix's Western drama Ransom Canyon, which released its first season on April 17th of this year. Just over two months later, Netflix has confirmed that the show will not be riding off into the sunset.
The series stars Josh Duhamel as Texas rancher Staten Kirkland and Minka Kelly as dancehall owner, Quinn O'Grady. In many ways, it's Netflix's answer to the hit Paramount series, Yellowstone. Revenge, mysterious strangers, tragic loss, heartbreak. All the makings of a compelling Western romance.
The show's official description reads:
'Welcome to Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country. With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, their lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying their way of life. At the center of it all is stoic rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), who is healing from heartbreaking loss and on a quest for vengeance. Staten's only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly), longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. But as the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past. Vise tightening, Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.'
There is no Season 2 release date, but hopefully we won't have a huge gap between seasons.
The first season has a pretty lousy 45% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences were a little more upbeat, with a 73% audience score. What did you think of the show? Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick, appeared to fire back at criticism from sports podcasters who opened up about their interaction with her. The sports podcasters talked about their interaction with Hudson in one of their latest episodes. Hudson became a focal point of the college football offseason for a hot minute when she abruptly cut off a CBS interviewer's line of questioning toward Belichick about how they met. It started a firestorm of criticism toward Hudson and Belichick. But Belichick has made clear that Hudson has no role in the football program. "That's really off to the side. That's a personal relationship and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football," Belichick told ESPN back in May. "I'm excited to be back in the coaches' meetings and getting ready for June and August when we get to training camp. June will be a big recruiting month for us and then August we start getting ready for the season."
