Rohit Rajendra Ghodke was declared the first runner-up, while the second runner-up position was jointly awarded to Amol Sonu Dardi and Shaurya Bharadwaj. The Jury's Choice award was conferred upon Nasir Mehboob Shaikh.
The judging was conducted through a globally trusted, tech-enabled platform that ensured a transparent, anonymous, and bias-free process with role-based access, real-time tracking, and secure scoring mechanisms.
The jury evaluated the entries based on four parameters: brief comprehension and alignment (20%), concept and originality (40%), aesthetic value, execution quality and presentation (20%), and extendability of the idea across various media (20%).
PCMC will announce the final brand design at an official unveiling and award ceremony, and until then, all participants have been requested not to showcase their entries publicly, officials said.
A few key recommendations from the Jury included that both the second runners-up receive the full prize money. It also suggested that the selected brand designs may undergo further refinement. The Jury also suggested that PCMC may collaborate with the winners, in order of their ranking, for final detailing and implementation and lastly, ADI Pune Chapter will extend mentorship support for refining the selected identity and creating usage guidelines.

50% tax waiver for properties in PCMC red zone from next fiscal
1 2 Pune: The PCMC on Tuesday decided to offer a 50% discount in general tax for properties in the red zone from the next financial year, prompting protest from several housing societies. The tax waiver proposal was approved in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC)'s standing committee and general body meetings. A senior official from the property tax department said the decision, effective from April 1, 2026 (for the 2026-27 fiscal), would apply only to property owners who clear all their pending dues. Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh told TOI that the civic body was unable to provide many facilities like schools and sports facilities to the residents in the red zone area. Hence, offering them some concession in the property tax was under consideration. "The residents will get a 50% waiver on the general tax component mentioned in the property tax bill," he said. According to officials, a 2,000-yard area around Dehu Road Ordnance Depot and a 1,200-yard area around Dighi Magazine Depot are considered red zones. Construction activities are prohibited there, as per the Works of Defence Act, 1903. Avinash Shinde, the assistant municipal commissioner and the head of the PCMC's property tax department, said the waiver would be applicable to non-residential properties, including industrial units operating from Talawade. Over 3,000 industrial units in and around Talawade are in the red zone area. While the civic body hopes to recover long-pending dues from property owners in the red zone through this move, housing societies strongly opposed it. "This is an injustice to those who pay their taxes regularly. We also do not receive adequate facilities from the municipal corporation despite paying taxes," said Sanjeevan Sangle, the chairman of Chikhali-Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation, after writing a letter to the municipal commissioner over the issue. Sangle said offering a discount for properties in the red zone was like promoting unauthorised constructions because all these structures are illegal.

PCMC to come up with five-year infrastructure plan for Industrial areas
In a major step to address long-standing infrastructure issues in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) areas and unapproved industrial zones located in the twin city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will come up with a comprehensive five-year development plan, said the officials. A dedicated consultant has been appointed to design the development plan. (HT) The initiative aims to transform ageing industrial areas like Bhosari, Akurdi, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Talawade, and Chikhali, which have struggled for decades with poor roads, drainage problems, and waste management challenges. Despite contributing around ₹320 crore annually in taxes to the civic body, these industrial zones, housing over 7,200 industrial units, have lacked basic infrastructure. The total area of PCMC is 181 sq. km., out of which 12.24 sq. km. falls under MIDC's planning jurisdiction. PCMC will invest ₹100 crore in the first phase for road upgrades and new road construction. A dedicated consultant has been appointed to design the development plan. Temporary repairs worth ₹7–8 crore will be carried out until the full-scale work begins. Over ₹200 crore has already been spent on roads in the past four years,' said Shekhar Singh, municipal commissioner, PCMC. 'This is the first time a structured, long-term plan has been created exclusively for industrial infrastructure. We're not just fixing roads but trying to build future-ready facilities and networks for the industries,' said Singh. According to PCMC officials, there is currently no drainage network in these industrial areas. PCMC has prepared a detailed drainage plan, which includes 27 MLD capacity CETPs (Common Effluent Treatment Plants) that will be built by MIDC at a cost of ₹850 crore. These will treat waste from both organised and unorganised industrial units, helping reduce pollution in the Pavana and Indrayani rivers. Besides, the PCMC will construct STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants) of 20 MLD and drainage lines, which will cost around ₹650 crore, they said. Furthermore, PCMC's Health Department recently surveyed all 7,200 industries to understand the quantity and type of waste generated, including hazardous waste. The civic body has launched an awareness campaign among industries and has begun collecting industrial waste to prevent fires at garbage depots. Additional manpower and machinery will be deployed to improve waste collection and disposal. Pradeep Jambhale Patil, additional municipal commissioner, PCMC, said, The MIDC area has perennial problems of waterlogging due to inadequate stormwater lines. 'As per the plan, the PCMC has surveyed natural drains (nallahs) in these areas. We recently cleared the waterlogging issues in the J Block and T Block of MIDC. Besides, encroachments along nallahs by industries have been identified and will be removed from next week,' he said. Moreover, PCMC has identified 11 locations in industrial zones to build new public toilets. A dedicated fire station for MIDC areas is also being planned to be set up in the MIDC area, they said. According to the officials, a high-level meeting under Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is scheduled to review the plan. The state government has already approved the CETP and STP projects. PCMC will also coordinate with MIDC and PMRDA to ensure smooth implementation.

PCMC to post draft DP in Marathi for wider reach deadline to send views long over
Pune: The state govt has told Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to translate its draft Development Plan (DP) into Marathi and republish it online for better public understanding. The original draft, published in English this May, was open for public suggestions and objections until July 14. The demand for a Marathi version came from Maval's Shiv Sena MP Shrirang Barne who wrote to the state govt last month stating that many residents were unable to submit their objections to the proposed reservations mentioned in the draft due to lack of understanding of English. In response to his letter on July 6, the state govt, on July 30, instructed PCMC to act on the request, citing instructions from the office of deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde. You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune PCMC's commissioner Shekhar Singh told TOI, "As soon as the demand was brought to our notice last month, we reached out to the Directorate of Marathi Language to initiate the translation of the draft Development Plan." He clarified that the statutory timeline will remain unaffected and the draft will not be reopened for additional suggestions or objections. Barne, in his letter to Shinde, said, "As per section 4(2) of Maharashtra Official Languages Act 2021, all municipal corporations and councils in the state should do their administrative works in Marathi. The Shiv Sena MP added that govt should intervene to publish the draft in Marathi. The municipal corporation received over 49,500 suggestions and objections from citizens. The civic body has already initiated the process of segregating them to prepare for final hearings which will be conducted by the state govt-appointed committee. As per the standard procedure, the committee will prepare a final version of the draft after hearings, which will be sent to the state govt for final approval. Dhanaji Yelkar, convenor of Swabhimani Ghar Bachao Movement, formed to oppose the proposed HCMTR project in the draft, said there is no point in translating the draft when people cannot object to it. Sanjeevan Sangle, chairman of Chikhali Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society Federation, said the municipal corporation should allow citizens to file their objections after the translated draft is published. A senior civic official said that DP drafts are prepared in English due to the content's technical nature, and no previous attempts were made to publish them in Marathi. Several municipal corporations in the state recently published their drafts, and all of them were in English, he said. The officer further clarified that there are no legal mandates to prepare these drafts in Marathi. MLAs and MLCs from Pimpri Chinchwad voiced strong objections to the reservations listed in the draft Development Plan (DP), demanding its cancellation. They also raised the issue during the recently concluded assembly session, alleging that the committee responsible for drafting the plan imposed reservations on many residential structures. BJP MLA from Chinchwad Shankar Jagtap said, "The whole draft was prepared using wrong methods as reservations were also proposed on properties where building permissions were granted by the municipal corporation." Another BJP MLA Mahesh Landge said at least 850 reservations from the old DP were again mentioned in the draft. "The civic body has put reservations on many religious temples, which must be cancelled, and the hearings of all the objections must happen in an unbiased manner," he said. Several religious groups also expressed concerns over the proposed reservation for a slaughterhouse in Moshi, located about 4 km from Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj temple in Alandi. In response to the public outcry, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, during a public event last month, announced that this reservation would be withdrawn. Minister of state for urban development, Madhuri Misal assured the legislators that the draft could be cancelled by the CM if it was found beyond rectification. However, she said that it would be wrong to cancel it before conducting hearings on the objections. "Govt will ensure that there is no injustice to anyone when the final draft is approved," she added. Head: Area covers 173.24 sqkm Draft DP for PCMC was published online for citizens on May 16 Citizens had time until July 14 to file their suggestions and objections Over 49,500 suggestions and objections were received from citizens on the draft The draft DP covers a 173.24 sqkm area and was prepared keeping in mind the projected population (Pimpri Chinchwad) of 42 lakh in 2031 and 61 lakh by 2041 What Next? PCMC will segregate the suggestions and objections to avoid duplication Similar demands will be clubbed, and the final list will be kept for hearings A state govt-appointed committee will conduct public hearings on these matters The final draft will be sent to the chief minister for approval Instead of raising the language issue, the MP should have demanded cancellation of the draft. He realised it very late, and it is just an attempt to show that he is doing something for people. If he wanted to, he would have approached his party chief Eknath Shinde, who leads the urban development ministry, and got the draft cancelled Dhanaji Yelkar I Convenor, Swabhimani Ghar Bachao Movement Many people who were unable to understand Marathi failed to file their objections, and they should be given the opportunity as civic bodies are run for them.
