Adam Sandler 'couldn't be happier' with Happy Gilmore 2 reaction

Adam Sandler "couldn't be happier" with the response to Happy Gilmore 2.
The 58-year-old actor has reprised the role of Happy to star in the long-awaited comedy sequel, and Adam has been thrilled by the public's reaction to the new movie.
The actor - who has enjoyed huge success with Tim Herlihy, his writing partner - told The Hollywood Reporter: "We couldn't be happier. It's something that I can't describe.
"Just walking down the street, hearing people talk about it even before it came out — we were like, something fun is going on here. We went from, this was nothing we ever thought about, to having one of the best times of our careers together, feeling the fun of it all."
Julie Bowen reprised the role of Virginia Venit for the new movie. However, the character is killed off early in the film.
Asked if it was a difficult decision to move on from the character, Adam replied: "We love Julie. She's just a great vibe and a great person. We love working with her, and we did the first one and Hubie Halloween.
"We just knew we needed Happy to have to overcome something in this story. There's nothing more painful than losing someone you love. Just wanted to show how dedicated Happy was to Julie's character, and he would never be able to move on from it and the love he had for her. We just thought that was something to have going with the new story of where Happy is at his age.
"We're older now, so we've seen people go through stuff, and when you get older, this shit can happen — not in the same way it happens in our movie, but you lose people. Just dealing with it is difficult, and especially when you feel like you might have been a part of it, it's hard to shake that stuff.
"So we just thought it was interesting for Happy to have to think about that and get back in the game."
Julie recently admitted that she "started laughing" when she learned that her character dies in Happy Gilmore 2.
The 55-year-old actress - who appeared in the original Happy Gilmore movie in 1996 - told People: "When I found out that I was killed on page 12, I started laughing.
"I was on vacation with my family, and I had no wifi. I could barely read this thing. I only had my phone, and I was like, 'Am I seeing this right'? Trying to blow it up.
"And I was like, 'Oh, yeah, I'm dead. And he kills me.' Then I just started laughing. I just started laughing and laughing, and Adam [Sandler] was trying to get through to me. I was on island with no wifi and barely any cell, and we finally connected.
"I go, 'I don't care. It's great. Happy can't be happy.'"

Hulk Hogan didn't meet his grandchildren prior to his death

Hulk Hogan never met his grandchildren before his death. The wrestling legend passed away aged 71 last month after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida and his son-in-law Steven Oleksy has revealed that Hulk showed "no interest" in meeting his estranged daughter Brooke's twins Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene when approached following their births in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest." Oleksy explained how he and Brooke moved from Michigan to Florida to be closer to Hulk - whose real name was Terry Bollea - as he "was getting older" and suffering with his health. He said: "She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife." Oleksy explained that the family will remain in Florida following the WWE icon's passing as the state has grown to feel like "home" for them. The ex-ice hockey star said: "We've built a beautiful life here together." Brooke, 37, posted a lengthy tribute to her father on Instagram earlier this week and used her post to "clear a few things up" regarding the pair's estrangement. The realty star wrote: "It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know, or understand. My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed. I told him he had my support. I begged him to rest, to take care of himself." Brooke - Hulk's eldest child from his marriage to first wife Linda Hogan - added: "We had been through almost 25 surgeries together, and then all of a sudden he didn't want me at surgeries…everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a force field around him that I couldn't get through. (sic)" She explained how the pair's relationship ultimately collapsed due to a series of "respectful disagreements". Brooke said: "He was telling me these things, being so vulnerable with me and heard my pleas, then suddenly something shifted, and he made a choice to walk the path that clearly tore at his spirit. I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me."

Actor Gary Busey pleads guilty to groping woman

Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to groping a woman at a New Jersey horror film convention. The 81-year-old actor admitted that he deliberately touched a woman inappropriately whilst posing with fans as he pleaded guilty to criminal sexual misconduct at a virtual court appearance on Thursday. The incident occurred at the Monster-Mania Con in August 2022 as Busey was accused of groping several women who filed reports with the police. The star was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one count of attempting criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree and one disorderly count of harassment. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will drop the remaining charges against Busey who faces between one to five years of probation and fines. He has also agreed not to contact the victim. Busey, who appeared distracted during the hearing and was scolded by judge Gwendolyn Blue for drinking from a soft drink can, will be sentenced on September 18. The actor's guilty plea comes after he initially claimed the woman had made up her accusation. Busey told TMZ in 2022: "None of that happened. "There were a partner, a camera lady, and me and two girls. It took less than 10 seconds, and then they left. Then, they made up this story that I assaulted them sexually - but I did not." It is not the first time that the Oscar-nominated actor has fallen foul of the law as he faced drug charges in 1995 following a near-fatal cocaine overdose. The star - who suffered permanent brain damage in a 1988 motorcycle accident - has previously been arrested on charges of spousal abuse and was also accused of sexual assault by a female employee when he took part in Celebrity Apprentice in 2011. Busey's son Luke previously recalled how the motorcycle accident completely changed his father's personality after he underwent brain surgery to recover from his serious injuries. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "At 17, I had to teach him with my mom to talk, to eat, to feed himself. To walk again. To write. That was very difficult for me at that age. The post-accident version of him turned his personality up to 11. I feel like I lost my dad on December 4, 1988."
