Justin Baldoni's lawyer slams Ryan Reynolds ‘unaware of anybody whose wife was sexually harassed and has made jokes'
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni's attorney, addressed the issue on Hot Mics with Billy Bush, questioning the appropriateness of Reynolds' remark. "I'm unaware of anybody whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation. It surprised me," Freedman stated.
The lawsuit, filed by Lively, alleges that the It Ends with Us actor and director engaged in behavior that caused her significant emotional distress. The actress, 37, has spoken publicly about the legal battle, telling The New York Times, "I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted."
Baldoni, 41, has denied the allegations. His attorney dismissed the claims as "categorically false" and "intentionally salacious," asserting they were meant to damage his reputation. Speaking to Variety, Freedman stated, "These claims are completely false, outrageous, and intentionally designed to rehash a narrative in the media."

Orlando Bloom rooting for return of original cast in sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film
Orlando Bloom has voiced his support for reuniting the original Pirates of the Caribbean cast in the franchise's long-awaited sixth installment. During an appearance at Fan Expo Chicago, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, Bloom emphasized the importance of a strong script and expressed hope for the return of co-stars Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley. 'Everything is in the writing, right? Everything is on the page,' Bloom said. 'I would personally love to see everybody back. I think the way to win on that one is to get everybody back — if they can, and if everybody wanted to go back.' Bloom, Knightley, and Depp first appeared in the original 2003 film The Curse of the Black Pearl, which launched the billion-dollar franchise. While Depp's Jack Sparrow continued on through the later sequels, Bloom and Knightley only briefly returned in a post-credits scene in 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales. The five films have collectively grossed $4.5 billion worldwide. Bloom also acknowledged the franchise's evolving direction, noting Disney's previous interest in new storylines. 'What they're thinking…is how to do it. Do you bring in a female leading character that replicates Jack in some way? I don't know,' he said. 'The jury is out on how to do it again, but if [the script] was great, [I'd be in].' In 2020, Variety reported that Disney was developing two new Pirates projects: a reboot led by Margot Robbie and a sixth film continuing the original storyline. Robbie later told Vanity Fair in 2022 that Disney had seemingly moved away from her female-led version, though producer Jerry Bruckheimer later said there's still potential for both projects. Bruckheimer recently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that a screenplay for the sixth film is still in development, and he remains open to bringing Depp back as Sparrow. 'If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it,' Bruckheimer said. 'We just got to get the right screenplay. We haven't quite gotten there yet, but we're close.'

Penguin creator Lauren LeFranc signs HBO overall deal and launches Acid and Tender Productions
Lauren LeFranc, creator and showrunner of HBO's The Penguin, has signed a two-year overall deal with HBO and HBO Max while also unveiling her new production company, Acid and Tender Productions. The news was first reported by Variety. 'I am thrilled to continue my creative partnership with HBO,' LeFranc said in a statement to Variety. 'They have been unwavering in their support of my work on The Penguin, and beyond. My company, Acid and Tender Productions, comes from a sincere desire to shepherd bold stories and perspectives from singular voices and artists I love.' LeFranc first became involved with The Penguin in 2021, with the show officially ordered by HBO in 2022. Starring Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, and Deirdre O'Connell, the series debuted in September 2024 and quickly earned both critical acclaim and strong audience response. It went on to receive 24 Emmy nominations, including best limited series, as well as acting nods for Farrell, Milioti, and O'Connell. The program secured the second-highest number of nominations this year, behind only Apple TV+'s Severance. Before The Penguin, LeFranc served as showrunner on YouTube Premium's Impulse and worked as a writer and producer on Agents of SHIELD, Chuck, and Hemlock Grove. She is represented by Untitled Entertainment, CAA, Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, and ID PR. While HBO has not officially confirmed a second season of The Penguin, speculation continues. HBO chief Casey Bloys recently told Variety that another installment is 'definitely possible,' though the network's immediate priority is supporting Matt Reeves' progress on The Batman 2.

Ferrer files rebuttal against Baldoni subpoena
It Ends With Us actress Isabela Ferrer has filed a legal rebuttal against director Justin Baldoni, claiming his recent subpoena request amounts to harassment. Ferrer, who portrayed the younger version of Blake Lively's character Lily Bloom in the Colleen Hoover adaptation, became involved in the case earlier this year when Lively subpoenaed her during her sexual harassment dispute with Baldoni. Lively filed the complaint in December 2024, alleging misconduct and retaliation, allegations Baldoni has denied. On August 12 2025, Baldoni's legal team filed a motion claiming Ferrer had been unresponsive. In response, Ferrer's lawyers argued that Baldoni has "engaged in bad faith tactics" and that his subpoena overlaps significantly with the one already issued by Lively. They stated the move was "for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing" Ferrer, while also accusing Baldoni's team of disclosing addresses linked to her. Ferrer has requested the court to deny Baldoni's motion and impose sanctions. Her legal team further claims that Wayfarer Studios, Baldoni's production company, has failed to uphold an indemnification clause in her contract, which would cover her legal fees. According to Ferrer's motion, Wayfarer made coverage conditional on her surrendering control of her legal response, which she refused. Following Lively's subpoena, Ferrer submitted her communications related to It Ends With Us. Her lawyers now argue that Baldoni's latest subpoena was not tailored to request new information but was instead designed to pressure her financially and legally. The ongoing case, Lively v Wayfarer Studios et al, is scheduled for trial in March 2026. Baldoni's previously filed $400 million countersuit against Lively and Ryan Reynolds was dismissed earlier this year.
