The winners of the 2024-25 Serie A MVP awards have been announced following the conclusion of the fight for the league title on Friday night, with Napoli hero Scott McTominay claiming the flagship prize in his first season in Italy.
Napoli have been crowned as the champions of Italy for 2024-25 after a 2-0 victory over Cagliari at the Stadio Maradona on Friday night. Though Inter beat Como 2-0 away from home at the same time, they finished the campaign one point short of the Partenopei.

Scotland international McTominay has been announced as the overall Serie A MVP after helping Napoli to their second Scudetto in just three years in his first season since joining from Manchester United.
He chipped in with 12 goals and six assists in Serie A this season, and was presented with his trophy on the pitch at full-time after the 2-0 win over Cagliari on Friday night.
'I'm lost for words, it's incredible,' he said in a party atmosphere at the Stadio Maradona.

'The sacrifice of every single player in this group is just incredible. The people deserve it, as they've been behind us from day one. For me to come here and experience this, it's just a dream.'
Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar has beaten David De Gea of Fiorentina and Torino's Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to claim the best goalkeeper award for 2024-25.

The best defender goes to Italy international Alessandro Bastoni, who saw off competition from compatriot and title-winner Alessandro Buongiorno and Lazio full-back Nuno Tavares.
Despite finishing outside of the European positions in Serie A, Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who is in 'advanced talks' to join Manchester City this summer, has been named as the Serie A best midfielder. He beat McTominay and Inter's Nicolo Barella to the prize.

To clarify, the overall Serie A MVP cannot win one of the other position-specific awards, hence why McTominay did not win the best midfielder award, and why 2023-24 MVP winner Lautaro Martinez did not win the best striker award last season.

Another Italy international in Mateo Retegui has claimed the best striker award, possessing a tally of 25 goals and seven assists from 25 outings in the league this season. He beat Fiorentina's Moise Kean and Riccardo Orsolini of Bologna in an all-Italian top three.
Finally, Como talent Nico Paz has won the 2024-25 award for best U23 player, beating Sebastiano Esposito of Empoli and Kenan Yildiz of Juventus.

Video: De Bruyne on ‘crazy' Napoli fans and ‘ambitious' team
Kevin De Bruyne assures Napoli 'are ambitious and want to win, so it was a really nice project to come into' and he already realised the fans are 'a bit crazy.' The midfielder completed the transfer this week and was a free agent after his contract with Manchester City was allowed to run down. Advertisement Napoli have published his first interview since joining the club on their social media channels. MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – MAY 02: Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City celebrates scoring his team's first goal during the Premier League match between Manchester City FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC at Etihad Stadium on May 02, 2025 in Manchester, England. (Photo by) 'I'm a winner, I want to win games,' confessed De Bruyne. 'I've always been like this, I hate losing.' He had plenty of alternatives, including more lucrative ones in MLS or Saudi Arabia, but the combination of Serie A football and the lifestyle in Naples made it an easy decision. 'The team won the Scudetto last year, so they are in the Champions League. I'm hopeful that we can create something good for the future together. 'The team wants to win, they are ambitious, it looks like a really good team put together, so for me it was a really nice project to come into and hopefully I can help the team get their ambitions through.' (Photo by) Napoli fans already made their presence felt when he arrived for his medical, even if it was in Rome rather than Naples. Advertisement 'I remember it was really loud. The supporters were a bit crazy! But that's good, I think I understand a little bit how Naples works, how the city is behind the team, and this is also something I wanted to come into. 'At the beginning, maybe I need to adapt a little bit, but if you have so many people behind the team, it's going to be a nice atmosphere for us to deliver.' De Bruyne will be working with fellow Belgium international Romelu Lukaku, while ex-Napoli star Dries Mertens confessed he also helped pave the way for this move. 'I've known Romelu since I was 13 years old. He spoke a lot of good words about the team, the city, so I am excited to do good things together. Advertisement 'Romelu and Dries obviously know the city really well, they explained a little bit how it works, how the people are. I understand a bit of Italian, obviously I need to get used to it and learn more. 'I'm excited, it is something that is very new for me, I lived in England for 10 years, but I think it is going to be a nice experience for me, for my family, and I'm looking forward to it.' Nuno Tavares pledge to have 100 metres race with Olympic long jumper
Lazio full-back Nuno Tavares has pledged to have a 100 metres race with medal-winning Italy long jump champion Mattia Furlani. The promise was revealed by Furlani on the 'Rade the King' Twitch stream and picked up by the Corriere dello Sport. Advertisement This is not an entirely wild idea, because the pair are good friends since Nuno Tavares moved to Rome to play for Lazio last summer on loan from Arsenal, making the move permanent. Furlani reveals Nuno Tavares race plans PARIS, FRANCE – AUGUST 06: Mattia Furlani of Team Italy celebrates winning the bronze medal after competing in the Men's Long Jump final on day eleven of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 06, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by) 'Nuno Tavares told me he wants a challenge running 100 metres! It's true, Nuno is a close friend of mine and I accepted, obviously. 'Now we are trying to organise everything…' It comes after statistical analysis from Serie A games showed that Nuno Tavares hit a speed of 35.3km/h. The friendship developed despite the fact that Furlani, who is 20 years old and won an Olympic Bronze, along with Gold at the World Indoor Championships and Silver in the European Championships, is a Roma supporter. Lazio fans on the Twitch stream messaged Furlani urging him not to take the race too seriously, seeing as Nuno Tavares has such a terrible record with muscular injuries.

NASCAR Driver Lists Luxurious European Style NC Estate For a Massive Price
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr.'s private European-style home in North Carolina just got listed for a massive price tag of $7.5 million. With an area of 14,000 square feet (approx.), located on a property spanning 4.82 acres on Lake Norman, there's a lot more on offer than just a fancy house. Truex Jr. parted ways with full-time NASCAR racing after the 2024 season, having secured a Cup Series championship in 2017 and two Xfinity Series championships in 2004 and 2005. The 44-year-old driver has switched to part-time racing in the stock car series. His last appearance in NASCAR was at the 2025 Daytona 500, where he raced for Tricon Garage in the No. 56 Toyota. The property on sale features 5 bedrooms and 9 baths, and is located on the waterfront. Being a racing driver, the house sports a garage for working on the cars, in addition to a large parking space to store those prized possessions. MoreIn addition, the property screams luxury with a spa bath, a 2-story closet, and a lavish living room. Indoor highlights include a gym, theater, custom bar, and game area, while a waterfall with an infinity pool and a private dock with a boat lift make up the exterior attractions. The estate has been listed on Zillow, which states all that is on offer: "Home to NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr., this private European-style estate on Lake Norman offers over 14,000 sq ft of luxury living on almost 5 gated, waterfront acres. A tree-lined drive leads to a stunning main house, carriage house with guest apartment, and expansive workshop/garage. "The main home features a grand living room with soaring ceilings and lake views, a chef's kitchen, formal dining, and a main-level primary suite with a spa bath and 2-story closet. Upstairs offers en-suite guest rooms and a second office with a loft. The finished basement includes a custom bar, theater, gym, and game area. Outside, enjoy a resort-style infinity pool, waterfall, fire pit, and private dock with boat lift. "A detached garage with finished space above adds even more flexibility. This home is perfect for a car enthusiast, with ample amount of garage spaces and workshop. An entertainer's dream and rare waterfront offering—experience luxury lake living with a championship pedigree." Kyle Busch also recently listed his 15,000-square-foot barndominium for $4.5 million. Newsweek Sports reported the listing earlier this month, which would lure any car or racing enthusiast, considering the underground garages and fuel storage on offer. Busch listed the property for sale since he didn't have enough time to spend there. He wrote: "We love this piece of land and the amazing barndominium but right now we just don't have enough time to spend there. We can't wait for someone to love it as much as we have!"
