Nuno Tavares pledge to have 100 metres race with Olympic long jumper
The promise was revealed by Furlani on the 'Rade the King' Twitch stream and picked up by the Corriere dello Sport.

This is not an entirely wild idea, because the pair are good friends since Nuno Tavares moved to Rome to play for Lazio last summer on loan from Arsenal, making the move permanent.
Furlani reveals Nuno Tavares race plans
PARIS, FRANCE – AUGUST 06: Mattia Furlani of Team Italy celebrates winning the bronze medal after competing in the Men's Long Jump final on day eleven of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 06, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by)
'Nuno Tavares told me he wants a challenge running 100 metres! It's true, Nuno is a close friend of mine and I accepted, obviously.
'Now we are trying to organise everything…'
It comes after statistical analysis from Serie A games showed that Nuno Tavares hit a speed of 35.3km/h.
The friendship developed despite the fact that Furlani, who is 20 years old and won an Olympic Bronze, along with Gold at the World Indoor Championships and Silver in the European Championships, is a Roma supporter.
Lazio fans on the Twitch stream messaged Furlani urging him not to take the race too seriously, seeing as Nuno Tavares has such a terrible record with muscular injuries.

Fulham vs Man United: Match Preview, Latest Team News and Score Prediction
Fulham vs Manchester United Preview: Kick-off, TV Details, Team News and Prediction The Premier League's second weekend already offers a fascinating test as Fulham host Manchester United at Craven Cottage. Neither side managed to take maximum points in their opening fixtures of the 2025-26 campaign, yet both managers will sense an opportunity to shift momentum early in the season. Match Details and How to Watch Fulham vs Manchester United takes place on Sunday 24 August 2025, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm BST. The game will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, with coverage starting at 4pm. Subscribers can also follow the action via the Sky Go app, while BBC One will screen free highlights on Match of the Day 2 at 10.30pm. Selection Questions for Silva and Amorim Marco Silva has decisions to make after Fulham's opening draw with Brighton. Ryan Sessegnon remains doubtful, while Rodrigo Muniz is pushing to start ahead of Raul Jimenez after making a decisive impact from the bench. Emile Smith Rowe, who featured in the final 20 minutes at the Amex Stadium, will also be hoping to earn a first start in Fulham colours. Manchester United, under Ruben Amorim, could hand Benjamin Sesko his first full start after the striker came on against Arsenal. However, there is a case for keeping faith with the dynamic trio of Mason Mount, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who troubled Arsenal throughout despite the eventual defeat. X: @Arsenal Another key decision concerns the goalkeeper. Andre Onana is in contention for a recall after Altay Bayindir's costly error last weekend. At the back, Noussair Mazraoui remains a doubt and Lisandro Martinez is unavailable through injury. Form, History and Expectations Last season's meetings between these sides were tight affairs in the Premier League, with United edging both encounters. Yet Fulham claimed some satisfaction by knocking the Red Devils out of the FA Cup on penalties, a reminder of the threat Silva's side can pose. Recent history does not favour the home team. Fulham's last victory at Craven Cottage against Manchester United came in December 2009. Since then, United have largely dictated this fixture, winning 58 of the 94 league meetings compared to Fulham's 16. There have been 20 draws. Prediction United impressed in spells against Arsenal and the expectation is that their attacking unit will become increasingly effective as Sesko settles into the Premier League. The midfield remains a work in progress, yet Amorim's side look capable of creating chances in volume. For Fulham, much depends on converting promising build-up into goals, something that proved elusive in last season's contests. Should Muniz or Smith Rowe start, there is potential for greater edge in the final third. The margins are likely to be fine once again. United's quality in attack could make the difference and Amorim will want a statement performance away from home. Prediction: Manchester United to win 2-1.

Palace's Eze on verge of Arsenal move as he misses European tie
Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze appeared to be moving closer to a transfer to Arsenal worth a reported £60 million ($81 million) after the England international was left out of the Eagles' team for their European tie on Thursday. There was no place for Eze in either the starting 11 or on the substitutes bench selected by Palace boss Oliver Glasner for the Conference League play-off at home to Fredrikstad. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder may now miss out on a final farewell to the Selhurst Park faithful for whom he is a hero after scoring the winning goal in Palace's FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City at Wembley in May -- the first time the south London club had lifted a major trophy. Tottenham Hotspur appeared to be on course to sign Eze during the Premier League's ongoing summer transfer window but that deal seems to have been scuppered by their arch north London rivals Arsenal. Were Eze, released by Arsenal as a 13-year-old, to join the Gunners he would become their seventh signing of the window and take their spending in this transfer period to beyond £250 million, with striker Viktor Gyokeres and midfielder Martin Zubimendi among those to have already made recent high-profile moves to the Emirates. The Gunners' interest in Eze intensified this week following a knee injury suffered by Kai Havertz. The Germany international came on as a second-half substitute in Arsenal's 1-0 win over Manchester United in their opening Premier League game of the new season last week and completed the match. Havertz, however, but did not feature in the club's open training session at the Emirates on Wednesday. It is unclear how long Havertz will be on the sidelines but Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta appears keen to strengthen his squad regardless as he bids to lead the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 22 years, having finished runners-up to Liverpool last season. Spurs, by contrast, ended the campaign in a lowly 17th place, although they did win the Europa League final. Arteta is due to speak to the media on Friday to preview Arsenal's league match away to Leeds on Saturday. jdg/pb

Borussia Mönchengladbach pushing to sign Borussia Dortmund's Giovanni Reyna
reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are pushing to sign unwanted Borussia Dortmund player Giovanni Reyna. This pursuit likely comes after Gladbach's loan offer for now PSV Eindhoven-bound Paul Wanner was rejected by Bayern Munich. Die Fohlen have made an offer for Reyna, who is also attracting interest from Parma in Serie A, and negotiations between the two sides are ongoing. Gladbach will also need to reach an agreement with the 22-year-old. When it comes to outgoings at Borussia Park, Julian Weigl could follow Ko Itakura and Alassane Plea out the door. The midfielder has already been removed from the captaincy, and part of that has been due to speculation over his future. The 29-year-old has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, more specifically, Al-Shabab. If Gladbach receives a suitable offer for Weigl, they will let him leave the club this summer. Weigl himself is open to a move to the Middle East. GGFN | Jack Meenan
