Nuno Tavares pledge to have 100 metres race with Olympic long jumper
Lazio full-back Nuno Tavares has pledged to have a 100 metres race with medal-winning Italy long jump champion Mattia Furlani.
The promise was revealed by Furlani on the 'Rade the King' Twitch stream and picked up by the Corriere dello Sport.

This is not an entirely wild idea, because the pair are good friends since Nuno Tavares moved to Rome to play for Lazio last summer on loan from Arsenal, making the move permanent.
Furlani reveals Nuno Tavares race plans
PARIS, FRANCE – AUGUST 06: Mattia Furlani of Team Italy celebrates winning the bronze medal after competing in the Men's Long Jump final on day eleven of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 06, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by)
'Nuno Tavares told me he wants a challenge running 100 metres! It's true, Nuno is a close friend of mine and I accepted, obviously.
'Now we are trying to organise everything…'
It comes after statistical analysis from Serie A games showed that Nuno Tavares hit a speed of 35.3km/h.
The friendship developed despite the fact that Furlani, who is 20 years old and won an Olympic Bronze, along with Gold at the World Indoor Championships and Silver in the European Championships, is a Roma supporter.
Lazio fans on the Twitch stream messaged Furlani urging him not to take the race too seriously, seeing as Nuno Tavares has such a terrible record with muscular injuries.

Real Madrid have discussed free agent swoop for Arsenal star
The board at La Liga giants Real Madrid have identified a market opportunity at Mikel Arteta's Arsenal ahead of next summer. That's according to Marca, who point towards Myles Lewis-Skelly as the player in the sights of Los Blancos. Advertisement Youngster Lewis-Skelly is fresh off a breakout campaign in north London, which saw the 18-year-old, despite his tender years, playing a starring role for Arsenal. All told, the England international racked up 39 appearances across all competitions, shining chiefly from a left-back berth. And yet, as things stand, Lewis-Skelly's long-term future at The Emirates is far from secure. The youngster's contract is due to expire next summer, with the parties, just recently, having been reported as still some way off an extension agreement. And this situation, it is understood, has begun to pique interest behind the scenes at another of European football's leading clubs. Advertisement As per a report from Marca, Real Madrid, after landing Kylian Mbappé and Trent Alexander-Arnold over the last two summers, are already eyeing another high-profile free agent addition for 2026. And Lewis-Skelly has been earmarked as one such target, alongside Ibrahima Konaté of Liverpool. Conor Laird – GSFN

Real Madrid eye move for Arsenal prodigy whose contract expires in 2026
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on three players across Europe as they look to eye move Bosman deals in the near future. One of them was Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly, a left-back who made his breakthrough for the Gunners this past season. Advertisement Lewis-Skelly was involved in 23 Premier League matches, almost becoming a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta during the backend of the campaign. Lewis-Skelly's breakthrough has led to intense speculation over his future, especially with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026. Real Madrid are interested in Lewis-Skelly Just hours after the report, Fabrizio Romano has now chimed in on the matter, confirming Real Madrid's interest in Lewis-Skelly. It appears Los Blancos are aware of the youngster's contract situation at Arsenal and could be potentially eyeing a future Bosman move for the player. What does the future have in store for Myles Lewis-Skelly? (Photo by) Advertisement Real Madrid, after all, have shifted their transfer policy greatly in recent years, focusing more on players with expiring contracts. This was indicative in Real Madrid's deals to sign David Alaba, Kylian Mbappe and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Real Madrid could be planning to pull a same move on Lewis-Skelly, although Romano adds that Arsenal are not too keen on releasing the player. The Gunners are confident of convincing the teenage prospect to sign a new deal at Emirates, which will secure his long-term future at the club. Real Madrid, therefore, may have to do more than just convincing if they are to have any hopes of signing Lewis-Skelly in the future. Fortunately, the club have other options in the market, including Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate, who has emerged as a top priority for the club in 2026.
