What has Las Vegas Summer League taught us about the Boston Celtics rookies? The Sin City Celtics are close to done with their slate of four games in the great state of Nevada this summer, and we have seen them win two of those three contests despite some uneven play from the three incoming rookies, Hugo Gonzalez, Amari Williams, and Max Shulga.
To get a better idea of how the newest members of the Celtics played in Las Vegas, what we should expect from them moving forward, and who else has a shot (if anyone) of making the roster for the coming 2025-26 season, two-thirds of the hosts of "Havlicek Stole the Pod," Justin Quinn and Alex Goldberg, (Daniel Donabedian is off until next pod) convened with the cohost of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone, to get up to speed on Shulga, Williams, and Gonzalez on the Summer Celtics, whether Charles Bassey makes the team, whether Jordan Walsh getting ejected was bad, and plenty more.
We even get caught up on where we think Al Horford will end up next season, what we think on the Damian Lillard to the Celtics chatter, and more, so don't miss out.

Why Ben Simmons to the Boston Celtics is not as wild as it sounds to some

It might wrankle a certain subset of Boston Celtics fans, but the idea of former Los Angeles Clippers big man Ben Simmons playing for Boston is not as wild as some might seem to think it to be. The Celtics, for their part, are looking for potential diamonds in the rough in what will be a down year for the storied ball club while star forward Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles tendon. And on the Simmons side of things, the former No. 2 overall pick has tarnished his value -- whether you believe that it is his fault or not -- during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. While he has shown that he can be a solid rotation player in his stint with Los Angeles last season, he still has work to do if he wants a crack at another larger contract and the role that would come with it. Could Boston be the stop that does that work for him, while generating some tradeable value for the Celtics? The folks behind the "NESN" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Hold My Banner" show touching on exactly this issue. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about Ben Simmons in Boston as a viable partnership potentiality.

NBA rumors: Suns, Celtics added to list of Ben Simmons suitors

The post NBA rumors: Suns, Celtics added to list of Ben Simmons suitors appeared first on ClutchPoints. The majority of the big moves of the NBA offseason have already been made, but there is still a solid crop of players available in free agency who could help out playoff-contending teams. One of those names is Ben Simmons, and while his stock has taken some serious hits in recent seasons, he's seen the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics emerge as the two most recent teams with interest in him. Simmons put himself back on the map last season by suiting up for 51 games with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers. After the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings checked in on him earlier this offseason, it now sounds like the Suns are the latest team to take a look at him, with the Celtics also doing their due diligence on the three-time All-Star. 'League sources say that the Suns have also had some recent dialogue with former All-Star Ben Simmons, who I'm told has drawn interest since free agency began from Boston, New York and Sacramento,' Marc Stein reported. Ben Simmons continuing to draw interest in free agency Simmons isn't the same player who was one of the top two-way guards in the league back at the start of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers, but he still has something to offer in the right role for a contending team. Last season, Simmons averaged five points, 5.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game, while also still playing lockdown defense on the perimeter. Considering his upside, it's not a shock to see Simmons generating interest, but there are reasonable injury concerns surrounding him, even though he managed to play in 50-plus games last season. With the Suns and Celtics joining the race for Simmons' signature, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him latch on with a new team in the near future. Celtics' newly acquired forward makes statement on fan expectations

The Celtics have been very active this offseason. For financial reasons, they had to part ways with some key players on their 2024 championship roster recently. One of the players they got in return isn't exactly an upgrade, and fans let that be known. This player was recently on a podcast, where he made a statement on why the fans have the right to be frustrated with him being traded for Porzingis. What new Celtic made a statement? The Celtics traded away Kristaps Porzingis this summer, and one of the assets they received was Georges Niang. Niang has gotten a lot of criticism from the fanbase as they already are asking for him to be traded, despite not playing a single game in Boston yet. The hate dates back to a situation that happened in a playoff game between him and Jaylen Brown, but at the same time, fans aren't happy about the trade from a logistical standpoint. MORE: Explaining new Celtic Georges Niang's past feud with Jaylen Brown Niang was recently on "The OGs" podcast, where he addressed these feelings the fanbase has about him. Niang's statement was, "I'm a Boston kid. They don't give a s*t if I'm from Boston, they're like you just took my unicorn and replaced it with a minivan." Porzingis wasn't exactly healthy and available on the court all of the time, but he was way more enjoyable for the fanbase to have on their team, rather than what they expect out of Niang. Niang went on to say that either way, he is ready for the challenge that comes with playing in Boston, especially next season, as the Celtics will need players to step up while Jayson Tatum is out. MORE: A former Celtic got first ring in 2025 Summer League, but not in the way you'd expect Niang does hold the impressive NBA record of most wins among players since 2020. He's won 295 games, 4 games ahead of new teammate Jayson Tatum. Niang has had success on winning teams such as the Jazz, 76ers and Cavs. He hopes to make a positive impact on the Celtics, the same way he's done for other teams in the past few seasons.
