EA FC 25 servers down and here's when you can get back online again
It's time for a new bout of downtime for EA FC 25, and though players were completely blindsided by its arrival, it's hoped that the outage period will lead to a stronger game.
EA FC 25 is no stranger to downtime, as we know, but it seems that it's getting a little less charitable with it this time around. As players brace for the incoming Futties promo after the major launch of Shapeshifters Team 4, players have plenty to get stuck into in the game, even as the middle of the year flies past and fans start to look to the future of the franchise, whenever that may arrive. We're entering a period which will likely see some players disengage before the new game appears, but that doesn't mean that EA isn't fighting for your attention, especially with all of the promos it has been throwing out recently.
There's more to come, though, as EA FC has dunked its most recent title under some downtime with very little notice, and has boxed players out of matchmaking for the length of it. It's not really a great look, as even though downtime is par for the course with games that run on a live service, they're usually a little better signposted than this downtime was.
So what's up with this EA FC 25 downtime? And when will it end? Here's what you need to know about the current EA FC 25 downtime.

EA FC 25 servers down and when maintenance ends
The EA FC 25 server downtime began at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST on Wednesday, July 9, and is scheduled to end at 2.30am PDT / 5.30am EDT / 10.30am BST. This has been revealed by a new tweet from EA Sports FC Direct, which announced that the downtime is set to affect EA Sports FC 25 on all platforms.
The tweet came with less than an hour's notice, and as it deactivated match creation 30 minutes before the downtime began, it's likely that players were blindsided by this. It's not ideal, but at the very least, we can expect some proper maintenance to take place during this time, and hopefully get some bug fixes out of it too.

Battlefield 6 confirms release date, open beta, maps, and multiplayer trailer
EA has officially revealed the details of Battlefield 6's multiplayer, alongside all its modes, classes, and the new version of Portal. Thursday had two big reveal events, one being a new Nintendo Direct and the other the unveiling of Battlefield 6's multiplayer. However, the video game world being what it is, almost everything from both showcases had leaked out already and was known about long in advance. Battlefield 6, in particular, seems to find it impossible to keep a secret, and has been leaking news ever since it was announced, with EA themselves accidentally revealing that its release date is October 10. Gameplay footage has been appearing online for months now but there's been very little official video of the game, until now. Thanks to an hours long livestream the floodgates have been opened and not only can you now watch the game being played for real, but EA has confirmed concrete details about the multiplayer maps and modes. Relatively little was shown about the story campaign, but EA has revealed it's set in the year 2027, when the world is 'on the edge of chaos'. Which will no doubt be a stark contrast to how it is in reality at the moment. As you can imagine, the plot is loath to paint the US in a bad light and instead portrays European countries as leaving NATO, while 'the US and its allies grapple with the fallout'. The central bad guy is a private military corporation called Pax Armata, which is presumably looking to take over the world, or something. Most fans don't care much about the story mode but they will be interested to learn about the headline new feature called the 'Kinesthetic Combat System'. Kinaesthetic, to use the UK spelling, refers to being aware of the position and movement of your body parts, and in Battlefield 6 the new system is an attempt to more realistically simulate controlling a virtual person. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. The examples given are mounting weapons in order to reduce recoil and pulling injured teammates out of the line of fire to heal them. EA has also talked about a new and improved version of Portal, the mod-like tool introduced in Battlefield 2042, which allows you to create your own content that can later be accessed as 'Community Experiences'. The class system in Battlefield 6 has been a matter of some concern for fans, since any class can now use any weapon, which seems to reduce the differences between each type. For now, EA has confirmed that the four classes are Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer – each with class-specific gadgets, weapons, and abilities. Assault can carry an extra primary weapon; Engineers are the only ones that can repair vehicles, equipment, and weapon placements; Recon can use laser designators to guide missiles to a target; and Support can lay down cover and heal, as well as use a light machine gun. Battlefield 6 will launch with nine multiplayer maps, set in five different theatres of war. All will make extensive use of destruction effects, as you can see in the gameplay footage. Siege of Cairo – an urban warfare map, focusing on infantry and tank battles. Iberian Offensive – another infantry-orientated map, this one set on Gibraltar with a lot of winding streets. Liberation Peak – set around a snowy mountain in Tajikistan, this one is set to be a favourite for aerial combat. Empire State – an infantry-only map set in Brooklyn, New York. Spider-Man is probably not involved. Operation Firestorm – the return of this classic Battlefield 3 map, set on a burning oil field, also leaked out before the reveal. Saints Quarter – another infantry-only map, this one set in Gibraltar's Old Town. New Sobek City – set in a construction yard in the suburbs of Cairo, this one features a lot of helicopter action. Mirak Valley – the largest map, including every vehicle possible and lots of destruction. Manhattan Bridge – another close quarters map, although you do get to use helicopters and witness some particularly spectacular destruction effects. As well as the story mode and Portal, there are multiple multiplayer modes in Battlefield 6 at launch, including old favourites and one brand new one. There's the signature Conquest mode, of course, as well as fan favourites Breakthrough and Rush. You also get the faster paced King of the Hill, Domination, and Payload for the smaller maps. Also included are Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch, while the new mode is called Escalation and has two teams trying to capture strategic control points. Unlike the maps, EA has not been definitive about whether that's all the modes, so there may be others by the time you get to launch. The beta details also leaked before the reveal but it's now confirmed that are two open betas in August. More Trending The first runs from August 9 to 10, but you can start on August 7 if you get an invite by watching streamers on Twitch, who can give you a code (unless you signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31, in which case you don't need one). The second open beta runs from August 14 to 17 and that has no restrictions at all, with EA describing the whole thing as Battlefield's biggest open beta ever. There's more information here, including the PC specs required. Battlefield 6 will launch on October 10 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Battlefield 6 release date, open beta, and trailer all leak ahead of reveal
Today will see the official multiplayer gameplay reveal for Battlefield 6 but most of the details, and even official footage, has already leaked. EA is desperate for this year's Battlefield 6 to be as big a hit as Call Of Duty, but the two military shooters have already got one important thing in common: they both leak like a sieve, when it comes to news. We already know a lot about Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, ahead of its official reveal at Gamescom next month, and while today is the big reveal for Battlefield 6 most of the information has already appeared online already, some of it from EA itself. The release date of October 10 has been rumoured for a while, but EA has accidentally confirmed it by putting a release date trailer live on X before it was supposed to. They took it down soon after, but naturally fans were there to take a copy first, confirming the date and… the fact that the game looks really good. It's only a short 15 second trailer, specifically meant for X, but gameplay footage of the game has been leaking out for months now, from the various closed beta tests. The trailer is clearly edited down from a longer one but that hasn't leaked (yet) but it shows everything you'd expect of a modern Battlefield, with fighting on foot, in vehicles, and lots of destruction effects. Although it's probably using in-game assets the footage is not actual gameplay and very similar to the reveal trailer from last week. There's plenty of leaked gameplay videos for you to watch though, if you look online, even before this evening's reveal. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Details of the game's maps, weapons, and vehicles have also leaked out ahead of time, but while there's little doubt that they're accurate, there's almost certainly things we don't know about yet, which EA will reveal later. This will not include a price rise though, with EA insisting multiple times that Battlefield 6 will not be priced at $80/£80. Although it will probably be £70. That's likely to be confirmed today as well, as EA will be keen to encourage pre-orders, especially of more expensive editions. The multiplayer reveal is due to start from 7.30pm BST today and that promises to feature proper gameplay footage, with rumours suggesting the event could last up to three hours. Although the highlights will no doubt be some shorter, more digestible trailers. To watch all you need to do is tune in to the YouTube trailer above at the appropriate time, although it also be shown on Twitch. One of the most important details will be when the open betas will start, but that information has also leaked ahead of time. More Trending According to Insider Gaming, there will actually be three betas in August, with a closed one to take place between August 7 and 8. It won't be that closed though, as you can get a code by watching Twitch, from any of the hundreds of streamers covering the reveal. Or you can pre-order the game and get entry that way. The first open beta, that anyone can join, will supposedly take place from August 9 to 10 and then there'll be a second one from August 14 to 17. That's a lot of betas and another indication that not only is EA taking Battlefield 6 incredibly seriously but that it's betting a considerable amount on its success. That's something of a risk, given the mixed reception to most modern Battlefield games, but so far fan reception has been very positive. EA is reportedly also planning a free battle royale mode similar to Warzone, although it's currently unclear when that will start and whether it'll be part of the initial Battlefield 6 package in October. That's not guaranteed to be talked about today though and may not happen until next year. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
