Emmerdale star Lisa Riley has said she "learned a lot about grief" after the death of her mother and her "best friend" Robin Windsor.
The 48-year-old, who plays Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, lost her mother in July 2012, just months before she joined BBC dancing show Strictly Come Dancing, where she was paired up with Windsor, who she credits with helping her through her grief.

Windsor died in February last year at the age of 44, and his cause of death was not given.

Asked about how she coped with the two deaths on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Riley said: "I've learned a lot about grief and how to deal with it, and how to be open and to literally ask for help, because it's okay.
"Sometimes people go really within, my brother's that person, we all deal with things differently, and I was pressing the bravado button going, 'I've got to go out and play Mandy Dingle every day, I've got to dress up as Mandy and be funny'.
"There were some days I didn't want to be funny, I'm lucky with the brilliant girls in my dressing room, where we lean on each other, and my work with Sue Ryder, I've realised that there is a helpline out there.

"The internet is brilliant, there are so many places you can go to, Sue Ryder being one of them for help."
Riley went on to say that the Emmerdale team were "phenomenal" following their deaths, but said she wanted to continue working.
The actress said: "Me, being me, I didn't want to be at home in my bedroom, or at home thinking about it too much, I had to carry on with my day job.

"But the make-up girls, what people at home won't know when they're watching Emmerdale is I was having my make-up done three times because I couldn't get it together, I couldn't, day in, day out, and work were brilliant, like we know, we'll write you out, we'll give you time off should you need it.
"But I wanted to do my job and keep going, because I know Robin would have wanted that, that sparkle, he wanted to keep that spark alive, and I felt I had to do that for him."
She said that when she first met Windsor and they began preparing for the BBC dancing show, she told him she wanted no-one to know her mother had died.

Riley added: "I said, 'under no circumstances can anyone in the press, anyone, know that my mum has just died', because the thought of someone picking up the phone to vote for us as a sympathy vote would break my heart, it would break my mother's heart.
"And Robin was like, 'I'm with you', he understood that, because some people would have gone, 'oh woe is me'.
"We did it because we were Lisa and Robin, the original Will and Grace, and that's what people fell in love with, they fell in love with just us two."

Tom Fletcher forced to apologise for ‘insensitive' post about his flight after devastating Air India crash

He deleted a post about flying a plane while listening to the Foo Fighters song Learn to Fly. 4 Tom Fletcher has apologised for an insensitive post shared on the day of the Air India crash Credit: Getty 4 The tail of the plane is seen hanging from the edge of a building after the crash in India Credit: Reuters 4 People stand near debris at the site of the plane crash On Thursday it was revealed that an Air India plane burst into a fireball while carrying 242 people, including 53 Brits, flying to London Gatwick airport. A British man miraculously survived the crash after jumping off the flaming jet and was filmed walking away from the wreckage. After reading the reports, McFly singer Tom, 38, wrote: "Sorry, I've only just seen the terrible news about the Air India crash. "So awful. Had I known earlier, I obviously wouldn't have posted about my flight today. The former Strictly Come Dancing star continued: "I understand why that must have looked insensitive and have deleted it. Thanks for letting me know. "My whole heart goes out to everyone involved in the crash and all their friends & families." Tom got his license to fly in 2008 when he was just 23 years old. He previously said he would have been a pilot if he wasn't in McFly. Tom apologised after Mark Wright was slammed for moaning about leg room on his flight after the tragic Air India crash. The former Towie star, 38, posted a snap of himself with wife Michelle Keegan and baby Palma posing in front of a private plane, as he moaned about the leg room on standard jets. Mark Wright slammed for 'poor taste' post about planes as 265 killed in horror Air India crash Appearing completely oblivious to the day's events, Mark wrote alongside it: '1 day babe, for now we'll take row 26 with no extra leg room.' His followers were quick to point out his lack of sensitivity, with one person commenting: 'Prob not the best day to post this when so many people lost their lives on a plane.' A second said: 'Not really appropriate to put this up after today's plane crash.' While a third wrote: 'Poor taste given today's event.' And a fourth added: 'What a time to choose to post this.' Radio DJ Mark has since deleted the post and blamed it on an admin error. He wrote: "I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today's heartbreaking events. "I have posts from a holiday that are on the scheduled setting, which go out on future days I have set them for which was done last week. It's a horrendous coincidence that today's post was on such a devastating day. "Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out, I immediately deleted. My heart goes out to everyone who has been effected from today. I'm sorry for this mistake and any offence caused." At least 265 people were killed - including those on the plane and on the ground - when the Air India flight crashed into a hostel seconds after take off. According to flight tracking website Flightradar, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner's final signal was received just seconds after take-off. This was last logged at 1:38pm local time - less than a minute after it started the journey. King Charles II said he was "desperately shocked" by Thursday's air crash in India, sending "prayers and deepest possible sympathies" to the families of those affected. "My wife and I have been desperately shocked by the terrible events in Ahmedabad this morning," the monarch wrote on Instagram, calling it a "heartbreaking and traumatic time".

Wynne Evans shares full apology video which he claims BBC 'cut short'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Wynne Evans has shared a full apology video from Strictly Come Dancing which he claims the BBC ordered him to cut short. The Welsh opera singer, 53, was fired from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour earlier this year, and recently dropped from his BBC Radio Wales rolling contract after a string of controversies. This week, he insisted during an interview with This Morning that an apology he and Katya Jones shared during last year's Strictly series was originally meant to be longer. The singer and his professional dance partner sparked controversy when she appeared to move his hand from her waist, which he said was 'just a body language experiment that was picked up on'. He added on This Morning: 'Katya said to me, 'Put your hand on my waist, I'll move it back, we'll see if anybody picks it up [on social media],' and boy did they pick it up.' The pair shared a brief apology video at the time, but he has now shared a different version which is 50 seconds long instead of the 10 second clip that got published. 'Hello everyone. We felt the need to clarify something,' Katya said at the start of the longer backstage video. 'We find it quite fascinating how people take time to look into in such detail every gesture, every look.' Wynne added: 'So we thought we'll mess around. And we said, 'Oh I'll put my hand on your waist, you pretend to move it away and let's see who notices it.' 'And now everybody thinks I'm a weirdo. But really I promise you I'm not. And we're doing this high ten thing as well where she blanks me from a high ten.' The pair insisted it was 'all sort of planned just to see if anybody notices', while Katya said they wanted to 'clarify that it's all just messing around'. 'He's not a creep,' she added. 'But he's a brilliant dancer.' Wynne captioned the newly shared clip: 'The video that was too long for @bbcstrictly @bbccymruwales I think this tells it as it was.' However, the BBC has insisted 'all parties agreed' that the shorter version was the best way forward. A spokesperson told The Sun: 'For the avoidance of doubt, the video in question was filmed twice and all parties agreed at the time that the second more concise version would be better suited for social media.' On This Morning, Wynne admitted he can 'totally understand' how people were confused and 'upset' by the stunt. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video He said: 'I don't want to sit here today, coming across as a victim because I'm not. I totally understand why people were upset by that and I get it.' However, he argued that the decision to only share a 10-second apology was still 'the wrong decision'. Earlier this year, Wynne was sensationally dumped from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour over comments he made involving host Janette Manrara. The 'unacceptable' joke referenced having a threesome with the dancer, 41. Soon after he apologised, saying he was 'deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate action caused' and would take a break from the public eye for 'self-reflection' and to 'prioritise my wellbeing'. More Trending And the BBC later decided not to renew his one-year rolling BBC Radio contract following a four-month investigation. He confirmed in an Instagram statement: 'It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract, so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted. 'That show wasn't just work — it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.' Corrie arrest in early ITVX streaming release as legend taken to the station

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Coronation Street that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) has been arrested in Coronation Street. The popular character spent the afternoon at the Platt house in tonight's episode, as David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) decided to organise a family BBQ. Also in attendance was Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien), Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and his partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). Earlier on in the episode, Shona had popped into the salon to see Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls). She was busy cashing up, and said she wasn't coming to the BBQ as she had other plans. Listening in on the conversation between Shona and Audrey was Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty). Ever since Mick (Joe Layton) was arrested for killing Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), Lou has found herself isolated from the rest of the Weatherfield community. After hearing that Shona would take the salon money back home for David to take to the bank, Lou realised that she had left her phone. An idea forming, Lou then needed to get someone else to look after her two daughters, so she could go to the Platts. Lou ended up asking Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine). He's previously kept an eye on Joanie and Shanice, and eventually agreed because he knew it would be good practice for him and Sally (Sally Dynevor), who are hoping to become foster parents. With that, Lou headed to the Platts with Shona's phone. She was invited in and sat down with the clan, but was regularly given dirty looks by Maria. Lou found a moment to sneak off, but it was spotted by her enemy Maria. In the lounge, the two women ended up arguing over Lou planning on stealing the salon cash. More Trending Moments later, the residents in the garden heard a huge smash. Rushing inside, they found Lou in the middle of the coffee table after falling through it. Lou was sent to A&E but was supported by Gary Windass (Mikey North). While this happened, Maria protested her innocence, but everyone around her failed to believe that Lou could've fallen so spectacularly by herself. As the episode drew to a close, Maria tried to grab a quiet drink in the Rovers. View More » Unfortunately, two police officers arrived and announced they were arresting Maria on suspicion of ABH.
