Kadapa steel plant works will begin soon
Kadapa: The immense support displayed by the public at the Kadapa Mahanadu public meeting on Thursday clearly signifies the strength and prominence of the Telugu Desam Party, stated TDP State president Palla Srinivas.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted key resolutions introduced by young leader Nara Lokesh and reaffirmed the party's core principles and future vision. He said HRD Minister N Lokesh is laying golden path for the party future and continuing the fundamental principles laid down by TDP founder-president and former CM NT Rama Rao.
Srinivas said that Lokesh announced six fundamental principles to the party during Mahanadu. He said the TDP is popularising the pride of Telugu people, giving importance and empowering the youth, giving support to farming community, giving priority to women, serving poor and giving top priority to TDP functionaries.
He said former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet the same fate like Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was sent to jail for mining scams. He said the TDP had exposed the irregularities of Gali Janardhan Reddy and now it will expose the misdeeds of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Turning to development, Srinivas highlighted TDP's commitment to Kadapa district's progress. He announced that Chandrababu Naidu is planning a steel plant in Kadapa, similar to the one in Visakhapatnam, and that its inauguration is imminent. He recalled Naidu's role in saving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant twice, bringing in Rs 11,400 crores, and assured that the same dedication would be applied to Kadapa.

Sharmishtha Panoli (File photo) NEW DELHI: The Calcutta high court on Thursday granted interim bail to social media influencer and law student Sharmishtha Panoli, nearly a week after her arrest for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through an Instagram video. Panoli was arrested on May 30. The high court directed Panoli to furnish a bond worth Rs 10,000. The 22-year-old, who was taken into custody by Kolkata Police from Gurugram last Friday, had been sent to judicial custody by a local court in Kolkata till June 13. However, her legal team moved the high court seeking relief, arguing that the case was a matter of free speech and that Panoli had already removed the controversial video and issued an apology. Her counsel, Md Samimuddin, said the court directed the state to ensure Panoli receives basic amenities while in custody, noting that such provisions were currently lacking. 'The High Court has also instructed the authorities not to register any fresh FIRs on the same cause of action,' he added. The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Wajahat Khan Qadri at the Garden Reach police station in Kolkata. New Delhi: In a marker of India's internal governance reforms and the country's rising stature in global governance, the country has been elected to lead the prestigious International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) for the 2025-2028 term. This is the first time in the nearly 100-year history of the Belgium-based institute that India will hold the presidential post. This marks a significant recognition of India's administrative evolution and reform-oriented governance, sources said. A Resounding Mandate The election took place at the Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting of the IIAS held on June 3, 2025, in Brussels. V Srinivas, Secretary of India's Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), contested the presidency and won decisively with 87 votes, defeating Austria's candidate who received 54 votes. Experts see Srinivas' election as an endorsement of India's governance model and its recent strides in administrative modernisation. He will preside over the global body that connects practitioners and scholars of public administration across continents. This will also help India understand and adopt best practices of governance reforms from across the world. India's Role in IIAS: A Longstanding Journey India has been an institutional member of IIAS since 1998, actively contributing to its mission of promoting good governance, innovation, and evidence-based policy reforms globally. Over the years, India has become increasingly active in the IIAS ecosystem, both as a participant and host of major conferences. In February 2025, India hosted the IIAS-DARPG India Conference in New Delhi under the theme "Next Generation Administrative Reforms - Empowering Citizens and Reaching the Last Mile." Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 5 (ANI): Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra on Thursday, strongly criticised the state government over the stampede near M Chinnaswamy Stadium that resulted in multiple casualties, calling the incident avoidable and holding the government accountable for mismanagement. Vijayendra questioned the state's decision to organise the event with haste, saying, 'Who will take responsibility for the stampede? The tragedy could have been avoided if the state government had managed things properly. In the final match held in Ahmedabad, 1.5 lakh people gathered, and no such tragedy occurred there. Why did the state government organise the event with such haste? Why was permission given to hold the event yesterday without proper preparation? What was the necessity of celebrating in front of the Vidhana Soudha? Whether the Deputy Chief Minister or the Chief Minister organised it must be clarified.' He further pointed out that the stampede had already occurred near the stadium even before the players had left the Taj West End Hotel. 'At such a time, why did the government decide to go ahead with celebrations at the Vidhana Soudha? Even when deaths and injuries were being reported, why did they continue with the celebrations? The state's Deputy Chief Minister went to the event at Chinnaswamy Stadium. At the time of the incident, ambulances were not arranged,' Vijayendra said. He criticised the state government for ordering a magistrate's investigation rather than a judicial inquiry and accused the Chief Minister and ministers of being overly obsessed with publicity. The BJP leader also condemned the compensation announced by the government, calling it inadequate. 'They have announced only Rs 10 lakh as compensation. When someone dies due to an elephant attack in Kerala, Rs 25 lakh is given. Then, for the people of our state who lost their lives, Rs 50 lakh compensation must be given. The RCB owners must also provide compensation,' he asserted. Vijayendra alleged that no precautionary measures were taken to organise the event and demanded accountability. 'The situation has come to a point where the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, and the Home Minister must resign,' he added. Earlier today, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara inspected the stampede site at the Chinnaswamy stadium. The stampede had killed 11 people and injured several. The Home Minister said that the state government had not asked the Royal Challengers Bangalore or the Karnataka Cricket Association to organise the victory celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Speaking to the media, Parameshwara said, 'We did not request RCB or the KCA, they organised it (the victory celebration). They are the ones who brought the team to Bengaluru. The government also felt it should facilitate this, as it was the Bengaluru team. I feel very sorry that this incident happened.' Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Siddaramaiah said, '11 died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident. 'The Karnataka CM further asserted that he has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter.'I don't want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and given 15 days. People even broke the gates of the stadium. There was a stampede. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came,' CM Siddaramaiah said. The incident occurred near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where thousands of fans gathered to see RCB players after the franchise won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. (ANI)
