Sultan Of Oman Ratifies Visa Waiver Agreement With Russia
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman has issued Royal Decree No. 53 of 2025, ratifying the Oman-Russia visa waiver agreement, which was originally signed in Moscow on April 22, 2025 between the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Russian Federation. The decree confirms Oman's formal approval of the agreement, which will come into effect once both countries complete the required legal and technical procedures. The visa waiver is set to ease travel between the two nations by allowing holders of ordinary passports from Oman and Russia to enter each other's countries without the need for a visa. This development not only simplifies travel procedures but also opens broader horizons for bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as economy, tourism, education, and investment. The agreement underscores the Sultanate of Oman's position as a nation open to the world, committed to building balanced strategic partnerships and fostering meaningful international engagement. The official start date of the visa-free travel arrangement will be announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman once all procedural requirements are finalised. Until the agreement officially takes effect, Omani citizens planning to travel to Russia must continue to obtain entry visas in accordance with current procedures.

Chad Suspends U.S. Visas After Trump Revives Travel Ban on 12 Countries
Chad's President Mahamat Idriss Déby announced on Thursday that his government will suspend the issuance of visas to U.S. citizens. The decision comes a day after U.S. President Donald Trump reintroduced a travel ban targeting 12 countries, including Chad, citing national security concerns. President Trump's policy—which echoes a controversial hallmark of his first term—targets countries he claims have 'deficient' screening and vetting procedures or have historically failed to repatriate their citizens who overstay U.S. visas. The list includes Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. Additional travel restrictions will be imposed on visitors from seven other nations. Chad's President, in a strongly worded statement posted on Facebook, declared the suspension of U.S. visa processing in Chad, framing it as an issue of national dignity and sovereignty. 'Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give—but Chad has his dignity and pride,' Déby wrote, making a pointed reference to a $400 million luxury aircraft gifted by Qatar to his administration. The announcement has added to a wave of criticism from African nations affected by the ban. In the Republic of Congo, government spokesperson Thierry Moungalla called the U.S. decision a 'mistake,' attributing it to a misunderstanding involving an armed attack in the United States. He asserted that Congo is neither a terrorist hub nor associated with any extremist activities, and expects diplomatic clarification soon. Sierra Leone, which faces heightened travel restrictions rather than a full ban, also responded diplomatically. Information Minister Chernor Bah affirmed the country's commitment to working with U.S. authorities to address concerns and ensure progress on bilateral relations. The renewed travel ban is expected to take effect Monday at 12:01 a.m. Washington time. Analysts predict this move will further strain U.S. relations with several African and Middle Eastern nations, especially as they voice concerns about fairness, transparency, and the implications for diplomacy and migration.

Trump Will Allow Iran To Enrich Uranium
A fresh nuclear deal submitted to Iran from the Trump administration over the weekend would allow limited low-level uranium enrichment on Iranian soil for a to-be-determined period of time, Axios writes in a breaking report Monday. This contradicts the prior public statements of Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who have several times made clear that the full dismantlement of Iran's nuclear facilities is a Washington red line. Israel will be vexed — zerohedge (@zerohedge) June 2, 2025 Tehran, for its part has remained firm on its own red line, saying its ability to enrich uranium for peaceful domestic energy purposes is a matter of national sovereignty. Is Trump meeting Iran in the middle? Rather, the hawks will of course accuse him of caving. According to more from Axios: But the proposal described to Axios by two sources with direct knowledge — one of whom provided a point-by-point breakdown — would seem to offer a clearer path to a deal . By making this offer, the Trump administration is risking backlash from its allies on the Hill and in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government and dozens of Republican senators have pushed the administration to maintain red lines on zero nuclear enrichment and the full dismantlement of Iran's nuclear program. Israel and its supporters in the US are going to be furious. But Trump has promised time and again peace and stability in the region through the art of the deal – a message conveyed especially strongly in his Gulf tour last month. Oil prices dropped immediately on the headline… As for Iran's stance, we detailed earlier in the day that amid ongoing nuclear negotiations, Iran has demanded that the United States clarify precisely how sanctions will be lifted and which ones. A statement said that any new agreement on Tehran's nuclear program would be conditioned on significant and immediate sanctions relief. Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Esmail Baghaei made clear Monday that Tehran won't back off of this reasonable demand, coming days after the US submitted what it called an 'acceptable' proposal. Baghaei stressed the need for transparent and firm guarantees regarding the 'real end of the sanctions' which would also feature details on 'how and through what mechanism' they would be dismantled. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has said in a statement. 'Special Envoy Witkoff has sent a detailed and acceptable proposal to the Iranian regime, and it's in their best interest to accept it.'
