Shubman Gill to lead North Zone squad for first time in Duleep Trophy 2025
After an impressive start to his Test captaincy with a 2-2 result in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, India skipper Shubman Gill will return to red-ball cricket later this month through the 2025-26 domestic season-opening Duleep Trophy as leader of the North Zone team. With the tournament returning to the six-team zonal format, Gill will be joined by Punjab and Haryana pacers Arshdeep Singh and Anshul Kamboj from the Test squad that had recently ended the England tour on a high with a dramatic six-run win at the Oval. Gill's North Zone side will feature in the quarter-final match against East Zone, led by Ishan Kishan, at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from August 28. The 25-year-old Gill had a dream start to his Test captaincy as he also converted his middling record in whites by smashing batting records with 754 runs in the series. Gill's four centuries are the most by any captain in an away Test series as he joined the legendary club of Don Bradman and Sunil Gavaskar as the only leaders to ever achieve the feat. This will be the first time Gill will lead the North Zone team in the Duleep Trophy, having recorded appearances for India Blue and India A in five matches in the past. Last year, Gill captained the Duleep Team A side in one match in Bengaluru, scoring 25 and 21 during a 76-run defeat. Six members from the Jammu and Kashmir team have been picked in the North Zone squad, while Haryana batter Ankit Kumar was appointed as Gill's deputy. North Zone squad: Shubman Gill (c), Shubham Khajuria, Ankit Kumar (vc), Ayush Badoni, Yash Dhull, Ankit Kalsi, Nishant Sindhu, Sahil Lotra, Mayank Dagar, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Auqib Nabi, Kanhaiya Wadhawan (wk). Replacements: Shubham Rohilla to replace Shubman Gill, Gurnoor Brar to replace Arshdeep Singh and Anuj Thakral will replace Harshit Rana in case of any India commitments during the tournament.

Star Pakistan cricketer makes SHOCKING allegations against Team India, says 'bowlers used...'
Ind secured six-runs victory over England Following a historic England tour, most of the member of the Indian cricket team returned home. At the start, there was various uncertainty regarding the young squad led by Shubman Gill. With senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin retiring, not many expected India to achieve a positive outcome in England, a place where they hadn't won a Test series since 2007. However, the team silenced critics by fighting back and leveling the five-match series 2-2, despite being 2-1 down after the first three Tests. The fifth Test was a nail-bitter. India needed four wickets to tie the series, while England needed just 35 runs to win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. India secured a thrilling six-wicket victory over England, the smallest margin of victory in their Test history, thanks to an impressive bowling of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Shabbir Ahmed Khan makes shocking allegations against India after The Oval Test Former Pakistan player Shabbir Ahmed Khan who played 10 Tests, 32 ODIs, accused the Indians of tampering the ball during the spectacular performance. 'I think India used Vaseline. After 80 + over Ball still shine like new Umpire should send this ball to lab for examine,' he wrote on X. I think India used Vaseline After 80 + overBall still shine like new Umpire should send this ball to lab for examine — Shabbir Ahmed Khan (@ShabbirTestCric) August 4, 2025 Sachin Tendulkar praised Siraj for his positive attitude Talking about the final day of the fifth Test, Sachin Tendulkar praised Mohammed Siraj for his positive attitude, stating that the pacer often doesn't receive the recognition he deserves. On day five at The Oval, Siraj delivered an impressive spell of 5 for 104, helping India secure a dramatic six-run victory to level the five-match series 2-2. On the fifth day, Siraj ripped through England's lower order as he picked three wickets while conceding just nine runs in 25 balls, leaving England with no answers to his accuracy. Siraj knocked over Gus Atkinson's off-stump to secure the victory for India. 'Unbelievable. Superb approach. I love his attitude. I love the spring in his legs. For a fast bowler to be constantly in your face like that, no batsman will like it. And the approach he maintained until the end on the last day; I could also hear commentators saying he bowled around 90mph (145kph) on the last day, after having bowled more than 1,000 deliveries in the series. That shows his courage and big heart,' said Tendulkar in a video on his Reddit account.

Lost Father When He Was Seven, Family Couldn't Afford Milk, Now He's India's Greatest Fast Bowler: The Inspiring Story Of...
1/11 Jaspri Bumrah himself revealed during an interview that he had just one pair of shoes and t-shirt which he used to wash every day and "use again and again". (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Little did Jasprit Bumrah know that his love for fast bowling would one day result in a change in his fortunes too. He started by copying the bowling actions of famous cricketers before settling on the unique action that has made him the bowler he is today. Steadily, he started making impressions and overcame rejections to prove himself at every level before landing IPL contract with Mumbai Indians. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah developed his pin-point yorkers thanks to a condition laid down by his mother: As a kid, Bumrah would bowl inside the his home during summers. His mother would get disturbed by the noise and to ensure she got her afternoon nap, Bumrah had to bowl without making any noise. As a solution, Bumrah started targeting the area where the wall and floor met which unwittingly became part of his training for bowling accurate yorkers. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah told his mother at an early age of his dream to play cricket professionally. Despite apprehensions, Daljeet agreed and was soon pleasantly surprised how driven her son was towards achieving the goal. (Picture Credit: IG/jaspritb1) Jasprit Bumrah, who became a father in September 2023, holds several records including that of the most wickets by an Indian bowler in an away Test series (32), only bowler to have reached top ranking in all three formats, only Asian bowler to pick 150 or more wickets in SENA countries - and more.
