BJP driving a wedge between Hindus and Muslims, alleges APCC chief Sharmila
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y. S. Sharmila on Friday said the attack on tourists in Pahalgam exposed complete failure of the Intelligence wing.
Speaking at the party's executive meeting here, she said it was a complete failure on the security front, as the Army did not arrive even after the attack.
Accusing the BJP of 'using intelligence and surveillance systems for its own interests,' she said why did the Pahalgam tragedy happen despite the presence of 10 lakh soldiers in Kashmir.
Alleging that the BJP was trying to create a Hindu-Muslim divide by 'building a narrative that Hindus were killed because of their religion,' she said there was a Muslim among the deceased.
She said Kashmir was promoted as a safe tourist destination and now the government admitted lack of security. She demanded that the government own responsibility for loss of innocent civilian lives and step down.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member K. Raju said the party would continue its fight against the BJP, which was insulting the Constitution. 'The Constitution provides equal rights to all, but the BJP governs in a way that benefits only a few. We will expose the BJP's stance,' he said. The party would launch a State-wide 40-day campaign to expose 'flawed policies of the BJP,' he said.
AICC's incharge for Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh Manickam Tagore, senior party leaders N. Raghuveera Reddy and N. Thulasi Reddy, APCC vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji and others were present. In the evening, the party leaders took out a candlelight march in solidarity with the bereaved family members of the terror attack.

The BJP had promised that it would create a separate Vidarbha state once it comes to power. However, that promise remains unfulfilled, and the BJP has kept silent on the issue. He added that even though leaders like Jambuwantrao Dhote, Rajesaheb Vishweshwar Rao Maharaj, TG Deshmukh, Tirpude, and Biyani are no more, the struggle for Vidarbha continues. Potonwar alleged that the BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra deliberately sidelined the Vidarbha statehood issue by projecting Shiv Sena at the forefront. He further noted that the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti had staged a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and submitted memorandums to Members of Parliament. While BJP facilitated the creation of three new states — Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand — it treated the Vidarbha issue differently from Telangana. Later, Congress carved Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh, but ignored Vidarbha's demand. Dr Tirumal Mujam, Sunil Junghare, Adv Vilas Mathankar, and Dheeraj Chikte were also present during the press conference.

Need to reach out to every home, unite Hindus: RSS chief Bhagwat
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday exhorted its members to reach out to every family and work to unite all Hindus, asserting that the goal is to build a society that is free of inequalities like casteism and is aware of its responsibility towards the nation. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief, who arrived here on Saturday on a two-day visit, made the remarks while speaking to volunteers at the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya School in Nawabganj. "We should have contact with every family in the 'shakha' area. "Work has to be done to unite all Hindus. There should be 'sanskar' (values) in every household and harmony in families so that the Sanatan tradition can be re-established in every home," he said. On Sunday, Bhagwat held four meetings with Sangh officials where the functioning of 'shakhas' and service work conducted among students were discussed along with other issues. Bhagwat said that the RSS "works for personality development. Personal development means realising one's responsibility towards the family as well as society, nation and the entire human race, i.e. the world". "We say that the world is a family. As the Sangh grew, it expanded its scope and expanded its work in various areas of social life through its workers," he said. "Today we are in the centenary year of the Sangh. On the basis of Panch Parivartan, an effort is being made to move towards a big change in the entire society -- a society that is aware of its responsibility towards the nation, a society that builds its lifestyle in accordance with the environment; "A society that is free from the inequality of casteism, where the entire society has equal rights on temples, water reservoirs, crematoriums," he said. Gehlot blames govt for power cuts, energy min says ‘no load shedding'
Jaipur: Former chief minister Sunday criticised the Bhajan Lal govt for frequent power cuts in the state. In a post on X, he said, "When the BJP govt in Rajasthan completed one year, they loudly proclaimed that Rajasthan was a surplus state in terms of electricity. "Power cuts in a surplus state directly indicate govt mismanagement. The electricity distribution infrastructure in Rajasthan collapsed, causing distress to the common people," he added. Energy minister Heeralal Nagar dismissed Gehlot's claims as "misleading". Nagar stated that there was no load shedding across the state during this year's summer and power supply was only interrupted in a few areas for maintenance, and that too with prior notice. He credited the absence of power cuts to improved management and infrastructure upgrade carried out by the BJP govt. Highlighting achievements, Nagar said over 1,000 MW of solar power had been integrated into the state grid in the past 18 months, and projects worth more than 10,000 MW were in the pipeline. Rajasthan was set to receive 4,000 MW of battery storage support from the Union government, he said, adding that BJP govt completed 80 GSS projects.
