BJP driving a wedge between Hindus and Muslims, alleges APCC chief Sharmila
Speaking at the party's executive meeting here, she said it was a complete failure on the security front, as the Army did not arrive even after the attack.
Accusing the BJP of 'using intelligence and surveillance systems for its own interests,' she said why did the Pahalgam tragedy happen despite the presence of 10 lakh soldiers in Kashmir.
Alleging that the BJP was trying to create a Hindu-Muslim divide by 'building a narrative that Hindus were killed because of their religion,' she said there was a Muslim among the deceased.
She said Kashmir was promoted as a safe tourist destination and now the government admitted lack of security. She demanded that the government own responsibility for loss of innocent civilian lives and step down.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member K. Raju said the party would continue its fight against the BJP, which was insulting the Constitution. 'The Constitution provides equal rights to all, but the BJP governs in a way that benefits only a few. We will expose the BJP's stance,' he said. The party would launch a State-wide 40-day campaign to expose 'flawed policies of the BJP,' he said.
AICC's incharge for Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh Manickam Tagore, senior party leaders N. Raghuveera Reddy and N. Thulasi Reddy, APCC vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji and others were present. In the evening, the party leaders took out a candlelight march in solidarity with the bereaved family members of the terror attack.

Rahul Gandhi will unseat Modi, not RSS: Revanth
Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said that it will not be the RSS or internal BJP politics that dislodges Narendra Modi from power—but Rahul Gandhi . Revanth asserted that the Congress, under Rahul's leadership, will limit the BJP to under 150 Lok Sabha seats in the next elections. "Even BJP MP Nishikant Dubey admitted they can't cross 150 seats without Modi. I want him to write in his diary—Modi will be unseated, not by age limits or RSS manoeuvering, but by Rahul and the people of India," Revanth said at the AICC Legal Conclave 2025 in Delhi, addressing a gathering of legal professionals in the presence of AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul, and Priyanka Gandhi. Taking aim at recent comments by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who hinted at a 75-year retirement threshold for political leaders, Revanth quipped, "I think Modi is not in favour of it. Why don't the rules that forced Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi into retirement apply to Modi?" But Sonia Gandhi declined the PM post in 2004. She backed Manmohan Singh for the PM post and even Pranab Mukherjee for the presidency. Rahul could've been PM or minister in 2009, but chose to work as a common party worker—fighting for the poor, OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis. " Revanth warned that the BJP's true agenda is to dismantle the reservation system and undermine the Constitution. "Only Congress stands between the BJP and their plan to erase social justice. Rahul will not only remove Modi but also protect the Constitution and uphold 42% reservations for OBCs by conducting a national caste census," he claimed. Highlighting the Telangana model, he said the Congress govt had already conducted a caste survey in line with Rahul's commitment. "We've shown the way. This is the model for the rest of India," he said. Taking a swipe at critics who question Congress's legacy, Revanth reminded them, "Congress gave India independence, the Constitution, and reservations. What was the BJP doing then? Parties like BRS, BJD, RJD, and even BJP came after independence. The Congress was already fighting for freedom." In a resounding call to action, he urged the Congress cadre community to gear up for a decisive political and constitutional battle. "The time has come. The Constitution, which is under threat now, will also be protected," Revanth said. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Friendship Day wishes , messages and quotes !

Punjab VB raids premises of former SAD leader soon after he joins BJP
Mohali: The officials of the Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Saturday conducted searches at the premises of former Akali leader and prominent realtor Ranjit Singh Gill in Chandigarh and Mohali. However, no official statement regarding the operation was issued by the VB. On the other hand, BJP leader Subhash Sharma defended Gill, criticising the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP govt for "vindictive politics". The searches followed Gill's joining of the BJP on Friday. On Saturday morning, VB sleuths carried out raids at Gill's residence in Chandigarh and his office in Kharar, Mohali. Officials also seized documents from his office for further examination. As the news of the VB raids on Gill's premises spread, the BJP Mohali district team held a protest against the Bhagwant Mann-led government and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner's representative. BJP district president Sanjeev Vashisht alleged that Ranjit Singh Gill, who was being pressured by the Bhagwant Mann government to join the Aam Aadmi Party, decided to join the BJP instead. "Immediately after his decision, the vigilance department raided his premises, which is clearly a politically motivated action," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Salma Hayek, 58,Shows Her Huge Size In New Photos Boite A Scoop Undo Gill recently withdrew from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). He was previously known to be a trusted associate of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Gill had contested unsuccessfully from the Kharar Assembly constituency in the 2017 and 2022 Punjab assembly elections. Upon joining the BJP on Friday, Gill expressed support for the party's initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The joining ceremony took place at Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini's residence. Further, Vashisht stated that the BJP strongly condemned such acts of revenge and authoritarian actions. The BJP clarified that such actions would be opposed at every level to protect democracy and justice in Punjab. "The Bhagwant Mann-led government failed on all fronts and is now misusing the vigilance department to intimidate its political opponents, which is extremely dangerous for democracy," said the BJP leader. He stated that the BJP would not be intimidated by such actions. Raid driven by political vendetta: BJP Ashwani Sharma, Punjab BJP's state working president, stated that the AAP had been pressuring Ranjit Singh Gill for the past 15 days to join their party. However, when Gill did not agree and instead joined the BJP – considering phenomenal national development and Punjab's future – the AAP-led Punjab government orchestrated a VB raid against him out of political vendetta. Sharma further claimed that the VB raid occurring within just 12 hours of Gill joining the BJP proved that the AAP now recognized the BJP as its principal political alternative in Punjab for the 2027 elections. Sharma added that CM Mann and the AAP government should remember that Punjabis feared no one. "Punjabis have now realized that the Punjab government is actually run by Delhi leaders Kejriwal and Sisodia, who are looting Punjab," he said. BJP's cultural outreach in Tamil Nadu continues to hit Dravidian roadblock
Modi's act not merely mirrored Emperor Rajendra Chola's achievement — Around 1,000 years ago, the mighty emperor had brought the Ganga water to consecrate Gangaikonda Cholapuram after conquering the Gangetic plains — but was also intended to deliver messages of unity and that Tamil Nadu's glory and its people's identity are deeply rooted in Hindu traditions.
