Sir Martin Sorrell's S4 Capital in early talks over merger deal

Sir Martin Sorrell's advertising firm S4 Capital has confirmed early talks over a potential merger deal with rival MSQ Partners. Shares in S4, which was founded by the advertising mogul in 2018, jumped in early trading on Monday as a result. It comes after Sky News reported on Saturday that creative agency firm MSQ, which is owned by private equity group One Equity Partners, approached Sir Martin about a potential deal. In response, S4 said on Monday that it 'received a proposal' about potentially merging the two businesses. 'These discussions are at a very preliminary stage and there can be no certainty that a transaction will be forthcoming,' S4 said in statement. The London-based firm said any deal would be structured so that S4 would acquire MSQ to form the combined business. Sky News also reported that US firms Stagwell and New Mountain Capital have seen moves to buy S4, or parts of its business, rebuffed by Sir Martin over the past year. Sir Martin founded S4 following his departure from FTSE 100 giant WPP. He quickly grew the business globally through a raft of acquisition deal. The company saw its share valued soar to as much as £5 billion in 2021, but has seen this tumble to around £140 million after the advertising sector was hit hard by the global economic slowdown and growth in AI. S4 Capital shares were up 3.8% on Monday morning.

Oceania Cruises unveils new 129-day around-the-world voyage from Sydney to London

Oceania Cruises has unveiled its plans for a new 2027 sailing, calling at ports across the globe from Sydney to London on a 129-day around-the-world voyage. The cruise line announced on Wednesday that it will be launching the 'Kangaroo Route' sailing, which will visit more than 80 ports across 34 countries and four continents aboard its Oceania Vista ship. Passengers who book on this voyage can expect overnight stops in cities such as Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore and Mumbai. The sailing will depart on 26 February 2027 from Sydney, Australia, for a four-and-a-half-month journey across the world. After navigating along Australia's coastlines, two months of the sailing will be spent in Asia. The cruise will then continue to the Middle East with stops in places such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha. The 1,200-guest ship will then cross the seas to Egypt, before sailing on to Mediterranean countries such as Greece and Italy, the French Riviera and Spain's Costa del Sol. After months of exploring different landscapes, cultures and cuisine, the journey will eventually conclude in London on 5 July. The cruise company, a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line, said guests will have access to 'the most spacious standard staterooms at sea', which are 291 square feet, complete with verandas. For every three guests, there will be two crew members on board, and one chef for every eight guests, who will be serving passengers across 11 dining venues onboard. Restaurants cover a whole range of cuisines, from Italian, pan-Asian and French dining to wellness-inspired dishes. Known for being a culinary-focused cruise line, Oceania goes further than just dining options with its onboard cooking classes, food and wine pairing experiences and culinary tours once ashore at various locations. Guests can also find eight bars, lounges and entertainment venues on the Oceania Vista, along with a spa and vitality centre. Starting at $54,999 (£40,863) per person, the new Kangaroo Route sailing will also include complimentary amenities, a choice of free unlimited drinks or a shore excursion credit. 'Our new Kangaroo Route, crafted from the epic 2027 Around the World cruise, is much more than a voyage – it's a rare invitation to experience a vast part of the world with the comfort, warmth, sophistication and exceptional cuisine that Oceania Cruises is renowned for,' said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises. 'We're thrilled to offer this immersive new journey of exploration in 2027, aboard Oceania Vista, spanning four and a half remarkable months. 'Our guests crave enriching journeys, and this itinerary has been thoughtfully designed to effortlessly blend diverse continents, vibrant cultures and authentic cuisines into one utterly unforgettable experience.' Oceania Cruises, which owns eight small ships in its fleet, has also launched three other itineraries as part of its 2027 'Around the World' voyages, including a 180-day journey from Miami to London, a 127-day sailing from Miami to Doha and a 244-day trip from Miami to New York, the latter of which is the luxury cruise line's longest option ever offered on a world cruise.

All the confirmed closures across Scotland for major discounted retail chain

The Original Factory Shop is set to close down a total of 22 shops this year. A major discounted retailer is set to make even more closures across the UK. Among the list are three more branches on the Scottish high street. ‌ The Original Factory Shop (TOFS), a staple since the 60s, has been undergoing restructuring plans recently that has shuttered a total of 10 branches across Scotland, England and Wales. ‌ It comes amidst a wave of closures hitting the high street recently, with Poundland, New Look and River Island also announcing closures across Scotland. ‌ The budget chain has already made a series of closures across the country, with its Perth, Peterhead and Arbroath stores shutting for good back in June. Now it has been revealed that stores based in Blairgowrie, Nairn and Kinross will also be closing down, although the dates have yet to be confirmed by the retailer. ‌ Earlier this year, we reported that the firm's Cupar-based store, which closed on July 27, had launched a massive closing down sale in store, with price cuts across almost every product category. Shoppers took to Facebook to share images of the sale that included 30 percent off clothing items for men and women. Meanwhile, household and cleaning products were spotted on offer for 10 percent less, with deals also found across a range of confectionary. ‌ The Sun reports that the firm is set to close down a total off 22 shops this year after being bought over by private equity firm Modella Capital, the same firm that bought over WHSmith and Hobbycraft. After purchasing the discounted chain in February, Modella then drafted up a restructuring plan to renegotiate rents at 88 The Original Factory Shop stores. ‌ To help further save the firm from collapse, Modella also drafted up plans to initiate a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) at the end of April. A CVA is often used by companies to prevent insolvency, which could otherwise force stores to close or trigger the collapse of the entire business. As part of the restructuring plans, TOFS is said to have previously told the Press and Journal that several "loss-making stores will have to close." ‌ First opened on the high street in 1969, The Original Factory Shop initially sold soap manufactured by a factory that was operated by its founder Peter Black. The firm now offers a range of fashion, homewares, toys and personal care products from the chain's own lines, branded products or cut label products from a high street chain or supermarket.
