Liverpool transfer news: Alisson makes 'hard' admission as Reds agree next summer move
The first Premier League match of the season is out of the way and just two more weeks of the transfer window remain. There's little sign of Liverpool slowing down their work.
The Reds got their business underway at a rapid pace as they moved for Jeremie Frimpong and Trent Alexander-Arnold made his exit. Figures such as Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez followed as the spending ticked up towards £300million at Anfield.
There have been plenty of stars heading in the opposite direction too. Arne Slot has waved goodbye to Jarell Quansah, Tyler Morton and Caoimhin Kelleher among others to bring in funds.
And talk of Alexander Isak still remains after he missed Newcastle's opening match. Liverpool meanwhile will still feel they need a defender amid links to Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
With that said, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Anfield.
Alisson admission
Alisson believes that the difficulty of integrating so many new players in one go has been appreciated. Liverpool's transfer work has been lauded as they added talents such as Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike, but the Brazilian goalkeeper reckons it comes with a cost.
"I think it's hard," Alisson told NBC. "Not many people talk about the changes we had in the team. Everybody's said how good our team is becoming with new players coming in, but nobody talks about the challenge that this is. It is a big challenge.
"Last season we had the challenge of changing the manager, but you keep the players so you know each other, you just have to keep the same way of playing. The manager was smart in the way he did that and also implementing new things, it was easy for us to understand."
"I think for them to play, for Jeremie, for Flo (Wirtz) and for Hugo, playing for the first time in the Premier League, you have the physicality that's a little bit different, the intensity," he added. "But they showed up so well, they played amazingly well. Of course with our help, but they showed that their qualities are at the standard of Liverpool FC.'
Ben Doak nears move
Liverpool and Bournemouth have agreed a £25m deal for Ben Doak - with only the formalities remaining after the clubs came to some harmony over a fee this weekend. The Scotland international was absent from the teams' Premier League season opener after a breakthrough in discussions and now a deal is all but done.
The Cherries identified Doak as the ideal candidate to replace new Brentford star Dango Ouattara Andoni Iraola, per Liverpool Echo. Bournemouth fended off competition from Porto and Stuttgart to advance their deal after Doak impressed on loan at Middlesbrough last season.
Glasner's Guehi stance
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner claims Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze remain 100 per cent with the Eagles amid speculation over their futures. Eze has been widely linked to Spurs and was rumoured to be set to miss the game against Chelsea, while Guehi has just a year remaining on his contract amid talk of a move to Liverpool.
Following the Eagles' goalless draw, Glasner appeared calm over the status of his star players and never considered excluding them from his his squad. "Not at all," he said.
"Ebs and Marc, there has been a lot of noise about these two players in the last week. Everyone could see the performances against Liverpool, and [against Chelsea] they were 100% aligned with this team.
"As long as they are 100% committed, they will play as they are so good. I watched them all week in training. I spoke to them almost daily, maybe more than my kids and wife, but it's been worth it to talk to them. They didn't just show they are great footballers, but they are great persons and that's what I expected."

Rangers exact Jefte transfer profit revealed as Palmeiras deal announced and one more exit nears
Jefte has officially left the club and another fringe man looks set to follow Left-back Jefte has sealed a switch to Palmeiras - and has netted Rangers a bumper profit. The Brazilian joined the Light Blues from Fluminese last summer for just £600,000 after catching the eye on loan at APOEL. Record Sport understands a £6.5million payout has been landed for Jefte with the package set to include performance related add-ons and a sell-on clause. It means that the Ibrox side have turned a £5.9m profit minimum on the player and can look to reinvest a chunk of that in a new starting left-back. He's not the only player leaving either as it's being reported Jose Cifuentes is closing in on a move away of his own. MLS reporter Tom Bogert reports the Ecuador midfielder is on the verge of a loan move to Toronto FC. It's believed the deal is a loan until next summer with a buy option which Toronto can trigger should he prove a success back in MLS. Cifuentes was tipped as a game-changing signing by Michael Beale, who brought him to the club in 2023, but he's struggled to settle and since spent time on loan at Cruzeiro in Brazil and Aris in Greece. Newcastle star 'likes' post slamming Alexander Isak as Liverpool plot second bid
Alexander Isak has made it clear he wishes to leave Newcastle for Liverpool (Picture: Getty) Newcastle star Joelinton has made his stance clear on Alexander Isak's conduct after 'liking' a social media post criticising the 'destructive path' the forward has taken this summer. Isak informed Newcastle's hierarchy of his desire to seek opportunities elsewhere last month and the situation has turned increasingly bitter in the proceeding days and weeks. Liverpool have emerged as Isak's priority for the new campaign and the 25-year-old – the Magpies' top scorer with 27 goals last term – has been training alone after opting out of Newcastle's pre-season tour of Asia. An impassioned post from Isak on Tuesday evening accused Newcastle of 'breaking promises' and holding him to ransom with just a fortnight remaining of the transfer window. The Toon responded with an explosive statement of their own, refuting Isak's claims while also stressing that they would be prepared to stand in the way of the Swede's potential exit at St James' Park. It remains to be seen if Liverpool will return with a follow-up bid for Isak having seen an initial offer of £110million – plus add-ons – rejected out of hand by their Premier League rivals.. The latest reports suggest the English champions would be willing to break the British transfer record for a second time this summer by lodging a £130m bid for Isak before the September 1 deadline. However, it's understood Newcastle are refusing to waver from their £150m asking price and would only consider selling if they are confident they can bring in a viable replacement. Yoane Wissa remains Newcastle's top target up front, but Brentford turned down their initial proposal for the attacker and are believed to be holding out for a fee in excess of £50m. It's fair to say Isak's conduct has left many Newcastle fans furious, with loud chants of, 'There's only one greedy b******', heard in the away end at Villa Park last weekend. And it seems Isak's behaviour has begun to seriously frustrate and anger members of the Newcastle dressing room – that's if Joelinton's social media antics are anything to go by. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page With the situation threatening to descend into a farce, several eagle-eyed Newcastle fans spotted that Joelinton had 'liked' an Instagram post from fan page, Wor Flags, condemning Isak's actions in recent weeks. 'Idolised and adored. No promises broken by the fans that make this club,' the post read. 'We deserve better than the destructive path you've chosen. 'Newcastle United will never be defeated.' Joelinton 'liked' a post hitting out at Isak's 'destructive' behaviour (Picture: Instagram/@worflags) Despite Isak's hardline position, Eddie Howe has repeatedly stressed that he would be prepared to welcome the attacker back into the fold as soon as he is ready to rejoin his team-mates. 'Nothing has changed. The door is well and truly open,' the Newcastle head coach said. 'He has to decide what he wants to do. We would like a resolution. We need that clarity. You don't need any kind of distraction. 'I am not in control of that. There is one person who can control that. Let's wait and see. I have made my stance clear. I am concentrating on the team.' Howe is ready to reintegrate Isak back into the squad (Picture: Getty) Asked about the chants directed at Isak from Newcastle fans, Howe replied: 'The supporters acted really well today. 'If afterwards, they want to say something, they are free to do that.' Speaking after Newcastle's goalless draw with Aston Villa, Anthony Gordon admitted the uncertainty surrounding Isak's future had contributed to a 'difficult' start to the season. More Trending 'It has been difficult because we're a tight-knit group,' the Newcastle winger said. 'But you see today, we've still got that spirit and togetherness. 'That will never go, regardless of individuals. We're still together. Things like this can make you better in the end.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
