Tenom: Five victims, including two children, were injured when the Perodua Myvi they were traveling in skidded and fell into a ravine in Tenom Lama road here on Sunday morning. District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 11.14 am and seven members led by Operations Commander, Mc Lean C Madis rushed to the location with machinery. The three female victims aged between 38 and 55 suffered minor injuries. The children wree helped by members of the public before the department team arrived. Bernard Tan Wen Sheng admitted to using his wife's certificates as templates to create four forged documents, two of which he used to falsely claim competency in procedures such as chemical peels and intense pulsed light (IPL) hair removal, according to Channel News Asia. Dr Tan submitted the altered certificates to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in February 2023 as part of the licence application process for Bay Aesthetics Clinic at Marina Bay Link Mall. He had not attended two of the workshops and had lost the original certificates for the other two procedures — filler injections and botulinum toxin injections — which he had completed. Despite warnings from MOH about legal consequences for false submissions, Dr Tan maintained the lie, claiming his documents had been damaged in a house fire and scanned by relatives, resulting in poor image quality. MOH eventually approved his application but restricted his practice to the services he had legitimately attended workshops for. Dr Tan subsequently completed the missing workshops in April 2023, after the false submissions were uncovered. The prosecution is seeking a jail term of four to six months, citing risks to public health and the need for deterrence against forgery involving public institutions. Sentencing is scheduled for July 29. PBS Deputy Chief denies bribery allegations, mulls legal action against Malaysiakini

He criticised the media outlet for allegedly creating a false corruption narrative without due process, echoing similar concerns raised by STAR President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan. Apex court to deliver verdict on final appeals in Kevin Morais murder case

(File pic) PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court will deliver its verdict tomorrow on the final appeals by six men convicted and sentenced to death for the 2015 murder of deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais. The decision will be handed down by a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, sitting with Court of Appeal president Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and Federal Court judge Rhodzariah Bujang. The judges reserved their judgment on May 14, after hearing submissions from the prosecution and defence. Jasmine Cheong, one of the lawyers representing former pathologist Dr R Kunaseegaran, told Bernama that the court notified them of the date for the decision this morning. Kunaseegaran, 62, was convicted of Morais's murder in July 2020 by the Kuala Lumpur High Court, together with S Ravi Chandran, 54; R Dinishwaran, 33; AK Thinesh Kumar, 32; M Vishwanath, 35; and S Nimalan, 32. The Court of Appeal upheld their convictions on March 14 last year. The murder took place somewhere along Jalan Dutamas Raya Sentul and Jalan USJ 1/6D, Subang Jaya, between 7am and 8pm on Sept 4, 2015. Morais was last seen in a Proton Perdana, leaving his Menara Duta condominium in Kuala Lumpur for his office at the Attorney-General's Chambers in Putrajaya.
