
Guelph man loses $16K to telephone scam
According to the Guelph Police Service, the victim got a phone call from someone claiming to work for Rogers and offering to reduce their monthly bill by $65.
That was followed by a call from a person who claimed to work at RBC. They told the victim their credit cards were compromised and a bank agent would pick them up.
Police said a man showed up at the victim's home two days later and left with the victim's credit cards.
When the victim went to his bank to get new ones, he learned it was a scam and his credit cards had been used at several businesses around the city.
The person who picked up the credit cards is described as a brown male, in his 30s, approximately 5'7' and a medium build. He also had a beard and moustache.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries after downtown Toronto shooting
Toronto police say a man is in life-threatening condition after being shot near the city's Entertainment District late Saturday night.
