Attacker kills woman, injures mother in Saga, southwestern Japan
Police are trying to identify and find the attacker, who remains at large. Investigative sources say intercom footage shows a man who appears to be the suspect.
The incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. in Imari City. The victim was identified as Mukumoto Maiko. Her mother, in her 70s, sustained injuries to her neck and elsewhere.
The mother reportedly told police that they opened the front door after the intercom rang, and the attacker then demanded cash and their wallets before slashing at them.
She reportedly said she did not know personally know the man.
Police say the mother told them that the assailant appeared to be a non-Japanese man in his 20s with short black hair, wearing a mask, a black short-sleeved T-shirt and long brown pants.
