Kamala Harris
expressed strong displeasure towards podcaster
Anderson Cooper
following a challenging interview about President Joe Biden's debate performance against Donald Trump, according to the bombshell details released in the newly published book "Original Sin" by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson.
As per the book, Harris voiced her frustration to colleagues, stating: "This motherf–ker doesn't treat me like the damn vice president of the United States. I thought we were better than that." This outburst came after Cooper questioned her about Biden's cognitive abilities following a concerning debate performance in June.
Despite her staff's advice to avoid post-debate interviews due to Biden's notably weak performance, where he appeared disoriented and struggled to maintain his train of thought, Harris proceeded with the CNN appearance.
When Cooper referenced Democratic concerns about the "disaster" debate, Harris defended Biden, emphasising his "slow start" but "strong" finish.
The book details that whilst Harris's defence of Biden received praise from his inner circle, she was noticeably angered by the interview's tone. The authors noted that Harris interpreted Cooper's questioning, which reflected widespread public concern, as a personal affront, New York Post reported.

"Original Sin", released May 20, further reveals Biden's significant struggles during debate preparation, including sleeping through an entire first day of practice at Camp David last June. The book describes his deteriorating condition, noting his weakening voice and difficulty maintaining composure during mock debates.
The text highlights how Biden's team attempted to manage his public appearances, often limiting video addresses to brief durations. Despite these efforts, Biden frequently struggled with even short recordings. The situation ultimately led to his unprecedented decision not to seek re-election, making him the first elected president since Lyndon Johnson in 1968 to make such a choice.
Biden's subsequent announcement of advanced prostate cancer with bone metastasis provided context to his earlier difficulties. The Post has sought comment from Harris regarding her remarks about Cooper.

Cybercrime & PMAY payments spark storm in Chhattisgarh Assembly, Minister Vijay Sharma questioned by BJP MLAs, Congress

RAIPUR: The third day of the Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly witnessed sharp exchanges and heated debates, particularly over the rising cases of cybercrime in the state. BJP MLA targeted the government, alleging gross negligence and delay in action despite the alarming surge in cyber frauds across the state. Raising the issue during the Question Hour in the House, senior BJP MLA Sunil Soni questioned the government's inaction, stating, 'Cyber frauds are being reported across the state every day. Thousands have fallen victim, and in some tragic cases, people have even committed suicide. Yet, not a single cyber expert has been appointed so far. The situation is dire and demands immediate attention.' The session was marked by sharp criticism of the government's 'inaction and delay' in tackling what legislators called an escalating digital threat. Raising the issue in the House, senior BJP MLA Sunil Soni slammed Home minister for its 'casual approach,' pointing out that despite growing cases of cyber fraud, no dedicated cyber experts had been appointed in the state. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Viral wajah Jokowi membengkak dan ruam menghitam saat ultah ke-64, sakit serius atau hanya alergi? The situation is dire and there's no clarity about cyber thanas as promised, nor any awareness where the cases should be registered. Besides, the cops at police stations linger over the complaints having no clue about what sections to be imposed,' he said. Soni further questioned the functioning of cyber police stations. 'While the data shared by home minister Vijay Sharma claims to have cyber units, most people don't even know where they are. NCRB and AI-based reports confirm over 16,000 cybercrime cases have been reported, yet no significant action has been taken,' he said. Responding, Sharma stated that 1,301 cybercrime cases had been registered in the state. He dismissed AI-based data, claiming the government was working with 'verified figures,' and clarified that cyber cells, not stations, had been established in every district. 'The NCRB has not published new data since 2022, so questioning recent figures is baseless,' he added. Sharma added that a 'Cyber Bhawan' was inaugurated by chief minister at the cost of Rs 277 crore and I can take all the members for a round and show that the cases of all districts were being lodged there. BJP MLAs Ajay Chandrakar and Rajesh Munat also raised concerns. Chandrakar demanded clarity on how many cyber commandos had been trained and how many appointments had been made. Sharma reiterated that the recruitment of specialists was 'in process,' but failed to give a timeline. 'The cyber experts are being empanelled under the IT Act while batch of six trained cyber experts including an IPS are already on job as experts. This is a continuous process and appointments will be done.' Munat cited figures indicating Rs 107 crore had been siphoned off through cyber fraud in the state, of which only about Rs 3 crore had been recovered. He demanded the appointment of a senior officer to oversee the situation. Sharma responded that recovery of funds is subject to court procedures and that an IG-level officer has already been appointed for cybercrime. In response to a query on arrests made between January 2024 and June 2025, Sharma said three bank-related fraud cases had led to the imprisonment of seven accused, from Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur. While the cybercrime debate dominated the session, Opposition Congress also raised the issue of completion of work and payments under PM Awas Yojana and MNREGA. Leader of Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant questioned the state's handling of PM housing benefits, especially in cases where houses were allegedly marked complete despite missing toilets. He asked if the completion is considered and payments were done only upon construction of house, or MNREGA work or building of toilets. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma defended by attributing past delays to the previous government and claimed that under CM Vishnu Deo Sai, all pending payments had been cleared right from year 2011. In further exchanges, Mahant raised concerns about fund delays in MNREGA, citing specific districts like Jashpur and Bijapur. Sharma responded that all labour payments were made by June 30, but agreed to verify any discrepancies if provided with documentation, mainly in interior regions of Bijapur, where bank accounts might not be functional. Mahant reacted stating that he has got complaints about completed houses under PMAY, the payments were which were stalled by claiming they were incomplete and they were trying to 'fool' the govt. Sharma replied that Mahant's comment was very hurtful to him while he's ready with all the documents that shows how Congress delayed the PMAY construction despite approval from the Centre. This was followed by noisy scenes as opposition members objected Sharma's reply. Assembly Speaker Raman Singh then said the word 'bewakoof' was abolished and it should not be used any further in the House.

India-US trade deal: India wants Donald Trump administration to offer tariff rate lower than Indonesia; eyes competitive advantage

A negotiating team is in Washington for another round of trade deal talks, with both nations working towards finalizing a tariff rate below 20%. (AI image) India-US trade deal: US President Donald Trump has said that America is eyeing market access into India, on the same lines as the one Indonesia has granted it as part of the trade deal. However, India is looking to seal a trade deal with the US that entails tariff rates lower than the one imposed on Indonesia. On Tuesday, Trump announced an agreement with Indonesia that reduces the tariff rate from 32% - threatened in the tariff letter - to 19%. 'We made a deal with Indonesia. I spoke to their really great we made the deal. We have full access to Indonesia, everything. As you know, Indonesia is very strong on copper, but we have full access to everything. We will pay no tariffs. They are giving us access into Indonesia, which we never had. That's probably the biggest part of the is basically working along that same line,' Trump told reporters. Our people couldn't go in and now we're getting access because of what we're doing with the tariffs…,' he added. India-US Trade Deal: What Will Be The Tariff Rate? According to a Bloomberg report, Indian officials are working to negotiate a trade agreement with the Trump administration, aiming to secure a more favourable tariff rate than Indonesia's deal before the August 1, 2025 deadline. India is looking at tariff rates more advantageous than both Indonesia's agreement and Vietnam's proposed 20% tariff, officials were quoted as saying. Currently, a negotiating team is in Washington for another round of trade deal talks, with both nations working towards finalizing a tariff rate below 20%. Indian officials believe their position warrants preferential treatment compared to regional counterparts. They maintain that the US distinguishes India from Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, which are often viewed as transhipment hubs. Current negotiations suggest India might receive more beneficial tariff terms than these nations, a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, who serves as the chief economist at State Bank of India, and is part of the prime minister's Economic Advisory Council, indicated that negotiations aim to reduce the tariff to under 10%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Successful Way of Intraday Trading is "Market Profile" TradeWise Learn More Undo "And in the bargain, the US will expect significant concessions for its goods when they decide to enter India," he said. India maintains its stance against opening up its agricultural and dairy sectors, though it might offer concessions in other industrial segments, Ghosh was quoted as saying. The Indian government has put forward a proposal to eliminate tariffs on US industrial products, provided the US reciprocates similarly. Additionally, New Delhi has extended improved market access for select US agricultural products and has suggested increasing its purchases of Boeing Co. aircraft. Trump's Trade Deals Trump has secured trade agreements with the UK and Vietnam, alongside a truce with China, and now Indonesia. The agreement with Jakarta includes commitments to purchase US energy worth $15 billion, agricultural products valued at $4.5 billion, and Boeing aircraft. The US President has sent out tariff letters to over 20 countries warning of new reciprocal tariff rates effective August 1, 2025. According to Brian Tan, an economist at Barclays Plc in Singapore, tariff rates are settling between 15%-20%, aligning with Trump's preferred range. He suggests that the tariff notifications to trading partners serve as a strategic approach to encourage improved offers for the US, enabling the administration to achieve more advantageous agreements. The Star reported that Malaysia's trade minister is awaiting details of the Indonesia agreement whilst continuing negotiations with the US regarding their tariffs. Tengku Zafrul, minister of investment, trade and industry, emphasised in the newspaper: "Most importantly, we must ensure that this is a negotiation beneficial to both countries. It must be win-win."
