Fantastic Four Review, Meryl Streep In Devil Wears Prada 2, And More
The Fantastic Four: First Steps — watch for: Vanessa Kirby. A new Marvel woman I would die for.
In theaters now
The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally brings Marvel's first family to the MCU. The movie doesn't spend time on origins, and instead drops you right into the action of the Fantastic Four facing the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) and Galactus (Ralph Ineson). The dynamic between Reed (Pedro Pascal), Sue (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny (Joseph Quinn), and Ben (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) is everything I could've wished for.
While each of them is great, it's Vanessa as Sue who is the heart of the film. Her portrayal of motherhood is spectacular and endearing. So, basically, Vanessa, welcome to the club of Marvel women I would die for. Plus, when she and Pedro have moments together, you can see the love behind their eyes that really solidifies the Reed-Sue dynamic. And it's just a visually cool movie from director Matt Shakman, the mind behind WandaVision. They finally got the Fantastic Four right on screen, and it poetically took exactly four tries.
The Gilded Age — watch for: Honestly? Stunning costumes, wild storylines, and a great cast
Streaming on HBO Max; new episodes every Sunday
As someone who watched Downton Abbey religiously every week, The Gilded Age is a show that feels like it was made in a lab specifically for me. Created by Julian Fellowes, who also created Downton, the show is set in NYC during the 1880s and follows the social scene and conflicts that arise between old money and new money in the city.
While the show started off as a guilty pleasure watch for most, with its current third season, it has found its footing and become one of the best shows you might not be watching. Anchored by riveting performances from Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Taissa Farmiga, Denée Benton, Louisa Jacobson, and more, each episode of this new season has been better than the last. So, yes, my comfort show right now consists of living in 1880s NYC, and I am totally okay with that.
Severance — watch for: Once-in-a-lifetime performances from the entire cast
Streaming on Apple TV+
Leading into this year's Emmy Awards in September, I figured I would spotlight the Emmy-nominated shows that you should watch (or rewatch) before then. So, we're starting off with Severance, which has the most nominations with 27! This brilliant series follows the employees of Lumon, who have elected to have a procedure that splits their personalities in half. Their 'innie' exists only at work, while their 'outie' lives out their personal lives outside of work.
I genuinely believe this is one of the greatest (and smartest) TV shows airing right now. With brilliant performances from literally everyone in this cast, like Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman, to name a few, you're honestly missing out if you're NOT watching. Please, join me in worship at the altar of Lumon (and Helly R.).
These are some of my favorite things from my FYP, feed, and more:
My entire feed this week has been flooded with Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. Twenty-two years after starring as Pacey and Joey on Dawson's Creek, the duo is currently filming Happy Hours, a romance movie written and directed by Holmes. The photos of them smiling and laughing while filming in NYC caused widespread panic on my feeds because, yes, Katie and Joshua really do have the best chemistry ever committed to film.
At the end of the day, all we want is new projects starring actors who have unmatched chemistry. See: what Nora Ephron did with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, or even what Mike Flanagan does.
And in other filming news, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has begun filming in NYC, which means we've been able to catch glimpses of Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Meryl Streep, Simone Ashley, and more filming, and I'm honestly getting more and more excited. Not only did Anne post from her first day back, but the minute photos of Meryl as THE Miranda Priestly hit the internet, it's all anyone could talk about. And can you blame them? LOOK AT HER:
This week, over on BuzzFeed Celeb, the I Know What You Did Last Summer cast — Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Gabbriette Bechtel — swung by to compete in a game of Cast Wars, aka a trivia game about themselves. Right out of the gate, things got competitive when Chase, Tyriq, and Gabbriette named their team "Pogues for Life," and it only got more hilariously wild from there. We tested them on each other's past roles, like Sarah's turn in The Wilds, as well as the OG IKWYDLS movie, like what was the color of Helen's dress? Watch it all now:
Where I answer YOUR questions about TV, movies, fandom, and more:
Question: Who are your top five TV ships of all time?
If there's one thing you need to know about me, I live and die by the ships I love that have become part of my personality. I have very strong opinions about which sides of love triangles are correct. I often tweet and flail over my unyielding love of characters who make me swoon. This question was made for me. I also stand by all of my picks. Coming up with a top five is hard, but I think I feel confident in this list:
1. Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill
2. Mark and Lexie from Grey's Anatomy
3. Glenn and Maggie from The Walking Dead
4. Caroline and Klaus from The Vampire Diaries
5. Waverly and Nicole from Wynonna Earp
And we're continuing the discussion over here: Tell me who YOUR top five TV ships of all time are!

I Wondered Why Chris Hemsworth Posted That Viral Thor Tribute Video That Had Fans Talking, And I'm Glad He Finally Commented On It
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is barreling toward a major franchise turning point with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, fans have a lot of questions about where the movies and their favorite characters might be going. Chris Hemsworth recently gave fans a scare with what many thought was a farewell to his days as Thor. I'd personally been wondering about what it meant and, finally, the actor clarified his intent with that clip. Back in May, Chris Hemsworth posted a video celebrating the legacy of Thor in the MCU. Considering it came just a few weeks after Hemsworth was officially confirmed as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, many wondered if the video indicated that the upcoming Marvel movie would be his last time wielding the hammer. Hemsworth recently spoke with THR and clarified the situation, saying… I had a few people ask me about it, and someone on my team said, 'Ugh, we've given the wrong impression here.' We didn't do any [damage control]; there was no damage control necessary. But a lot was read into a little. I was [already] off starting another chapter of this character, and this journey has been the biggest part of my career. So [the video] was a moment of gratitude, and it wasn't anything else. But it definitely got misconstrued and perceived in a different way. Hemsworth's video certainly got fans talking. Some wondered if he was simply saying goodbye to Thor then and there. Others, knowing about his Avengers: Doomsday casting, seemed to be getting prepared for Thor to be killed off in the movie or otherwise see the story reach some sort of ending. While the Australian actor says there was no need for 'damage control,' it's still good to hear him clarify his thought process behind the video. Whatever else Chris Hemsworth does in his career, it's difficult to imagine he'll ever do anything that will be quite as big as Thor. With that, I think his decision to honor the character is a worthy endeavor. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planDisney+ is home to the Thor movies as well as many other MCU installments. Get in on the ad-supported tier, which costs $9.99 a month. Or, the go ad-free route by and pay $15.99 a month. Fans can also save 16% by pre-paying $159.99 for a whole Deal Also, certainly when we see Thor in Doomsday, he'll be a very different sort of character than he was in the last Avengers movie. While 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder wasn't as well-received as its predecessor, it was a major turning point for Thor as a character. It seems that was at play in posting the video, as it celebrated the first chapter of Thor, with a new one on the horizon. Of course, we still can't entirely discount the possibility that Thor's days may be numbered. He's one of the few original Avengers still kicking around in the MCU. If most of the Asgardian warrior's days are behind him, I wouldn't exactly be shocked. With the news that Avengers: Secret Wars will function as some sort of MCU reboot, it's difficult to know just which characters will make it to the other side, and which ones will be played by the same actors, as recasting Marvel heroes is absolutely on the table. That's still a little ways off, though, and fans can still look forward to seeing Chris Hemsworth as Thor, at the very least, in Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Chris Hemsworth Totally Felt Like An 'Elder' Millennial On The Set Of Avengers: Doomsday (And My How Things Have Changed In 10 Years)
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's hard to believe that it's been more than 10 years since the first Avengers movie premiered. Actors like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans made history when they appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first big, team-up flick. Now, some 'but not all' of the MCU's OGs are reuniting for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Hemsworth gets real on feeling like an 'elder' millennial on set, and it really speaks to just how much times have changed. Those who were like me were probably delighted upon learning that Hemsworth was one of the many MCU actors joining Doomsday. What's known about the upcoming Marvel movie so far is that veterans of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the New Avengers will be going up against Doctor Doom. While speaking with Deadline, Hemsworth -- who's reprising his role as Thor -- was asked about working on the film, and I love how candid he was about embracing his age amongst the ensemble: It's fantastic to be back together with a lot of the old cast and a lot of new cast and kind of feel like one of the elders now. And I remember 10 years ago, I was kind of looking around going, 'Oh wow, what am I doing?' And now all of a sudden, I'm sort of [...] I don't know about a teacher, but I'm sort of—I'm older, that's for sure! Oh, Chris Hemsworth, you still don't look a day over 20! Yet it's still such a startling reality how long it's been since he and the bankable MCU actors first assembled for The Avengers, which opened in 2012. Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and more were in their 40s when they started in the MCU. However, Chris Evans was 30 when Captain America: The First Avenger was released. Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth were in their 20s when they debuted as Black Widow and Thor. (Now, I'm starting to feel old.) To think that back in 2009, when Chris Hemsworth was in negotiations to play Thor, he almost said no to the Marvel role, because it would be a six-picture deal. It's a good thing the Melbourne native changed his mind, though, as Thor has had one of the best character arcs of the MCU. He evolved from an arrogant warrior to a deeply layered hero, which makes me psyched for his return in Avengers: Doomsday. Plot details on the latest film involving Earth's Mightiest Heroes are slim. What is known, from a behind-the-scenes standpoint, is that Hemsworth didn't want to get Love and Thunder jacked for his latest turn as the God of Thunder. His personal trainer said this time around, the actor has been eating 4-5 meals a day, compared to the ten he'd eat in preparation for that fourth Thor flick. His regimen may be changing, but you better believe he's building his biceps to look superhero fit to take on Doctor Doom. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planDisney+ houses the Thor franchise as well as a host of other MCU films. So why not pay $9.99 a month for its new ad-supported plan? Or goo ad-free and pay $15.99 per month. Fans can also save 16% and pre-pay $159.99 for a whole Deal Chris Hemsworth may not be as young as he used to be, but that doesn't mean he still won't crush his Marvel duties. If anything, he can show the newbie actors a thing or two about what it takes to carry a popular franchise with heart, humor and crowd-pleasing action. It may have been over a decade since the Avengers first got together, but the ideals of this superhero clan are timeless. Stay in the know on Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters on December 18, 2026. In the meantime, stream the MCU films using a Disney+ subscription.

We Don't Even Know The Role Thor Will Play In Avengers: Doomsday Yet, But Chris Hemsworth Is Already Getting Asked About Thor 5
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's been a few years since we've seen Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, but it's been confirmed he's finally suiting back up in one of the upcoming Marvel movies, and I couldn't be more excited to see the comic book character back in action. But for as little as we know about his role in the Avengers: Doomsday release, we're not entirely surprised to see him already getting asked about the next Thor movie. Marvel fans currently find themselves in Phase 6, which will be the final batch of movies from the Multiverse Saga. Along with Doomsday, we know that this era of MCU movies will include Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which begs the question of if another solo Thor adventure on the table. Here's what Hemsworth recently said when asked by BBC News: I don't know, we'll see where this one goes. We're sort of unpacking all that as we speak and figuring out where each of these characters can go. And I'm just really thankful to be involved in this one at the moment, back together with all the old cast and a lot of new cast. So, it's something that I certainly love, so we'll see what happens. It sounds like Chris Hemsworth is staying really present with the future of Thor (to the public anyway) for the time being, and that makes a lot of sense considering all the secret plotlines he's surely hiding under those baby blues. I would imagine there's a lot that will be illuminated to audiences once we see Avengers: Doomsday next December. Then there's its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, which could include a lot of developments for Thor and the other Marvel heroes as well. So far, we know very little about the future of Thor, except that Chris Hemsworth was confirmed to be in Doomsday when the cast was revealed over a five-hour rollout of the roster of actors. Hemsworth's Thor is set to be the only original Avenger to be in the upcoming movie, but Robert Downey Jr. is in the cast as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man. Other original actors from the MCU's Phase 1 that will join him include Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes Also in the mix is the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, some original X-Men cast members, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Letitia Wright's Shuri, Winston Duke's M'Baku, Tenoch Huerta Mejía's Namor from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, and Simu Liu's Shang-Chi. So far, Hemsworth has said he's felt like 'one of the elders now' on the set of Doomsday. Just a few months ago, Chris Hemsworth went viral for posting about how playing Thor has been 'one of the greatest honors' of his life along with thanking fans for their 'passion', 'cheers' and 'love.' A lot of fans thought he was saying goodbye to the character, but the actor also recently shared that the post was a 'moment of gratitude' and got 'misconstrued.' Needless to say, it sounds like Hemsworth still loves playing Thor, and while we don't have any details right now about the future of the character, I think we'll know a lot more once Doomsday hits theaters next year.
