Brice Turang hit his first career leadoff home run, Jose Quintana allowed three hits over six solid innings and the MLB-best Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 7-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.
Quintana (10-4) struck out three and walked one as the Brewers (74-44) improved to 25-4 over the last 29 games, including 13-1 in the last 14. The only real hiccup was Joey Bart's home run in the third.
Turang sent a sinker from Pirates starter Andrew Heaney over the wall in left center.
Christian Yelich opened the third with a solo home run, RBI singles from Sal Frelick and Brandon Lockridge and an unearned run on Bart's throwing error capped the third inning.
Grant Anderson held the Pirates without a hit in the seventh and eighth. Shelby Miller pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
Heaney (5-10) allowed six runs — five earned — on nine hits in four innings.
Quintana and Freddy Peralta switched spots for the Pirates series. The move gives Peralta another day of rest but also lines him up for the Cubs series next week in Chicago.

Chase Shugart, activated from the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation before the game, allowed one run on two hits over three innings. The Pirates optioned RHP Dauri Moreta to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Key moment
Yelich's 22nd home run of the season highlighted the Brewers' third.
Key stat
Quintana, 36, made his 351st start since his rookie season with the Chicago White Sox in 2012, fifth most on the active list.
Up next
RHP Paul Skenes (7-8, 1.94 ERA) starts for the Pirates against Peralta (13-5, 3.03) and the Brewers.

2025 NL East Odds: Phillies Aiming for Back-to-Back Crowns
Major League Baseball 2025 NL East Odds: Phillies Aiming for Back-to-Back Crowns Updated Aug. 13, 2025 11:49 a.m. ET share facebook x reddit link The division appears to be Philadelphia's to lose, with the Big Apple somewhere in the rearview mirror. Which squad is favored to win the NL East this season? Here are the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Aug. 13, as well as what to know about the division. NL West winner Phillies: -650 (bet $10 to win $11.54 total) Mets: +425 (bet $10 to win $52.50 total) What to know: Philadelphia (69-50) won the division last season, putting an end to Atlanta's streak of six straight division titles, and as of Aug. 13, it has a five-game lead on the Mets. Here is the thing to know about the NL East in recent years, however: Its winner has lost its first playoff series in seven of the last nine seasons. The only exceptions came in 2020, when the Braves made it to the NLCS, and in 2021, when Atlanta won the World Series. Over the last three seasons, the winner of this division is 3-9 in 12 postseason games, including Philly's 3-1 loss (to the Mets, go figure) in the NLDS last year. Still, the winner of this division has had postseason success since the 1990s. The Mets made it to the World Series in 2015 (lost), the Phillies in 2008 (won) and 2009 (lost), the Braves in 1995 (won), 1996 (lost) and 1999 (lost), and the Phillies in 1993 (won). This season, Kyle Schwarber (42 home runs) and Trea Turner (136 hits) are powering Philadelphia at the plate, while Zack Wheeler is in Cy Young contention with an MLB-best 189 strikeouts as of Aug. 13. Remaining matchups: The Phillies and Mets have one four-game series remaining, Sept. 8-11, in Philadelphia. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? World Series to Start on Oct. 24; MLB Confirms No Plans For Earlier Date
Major League Baseball announced that the World Series will start on Oct. 24, dropping its plan to start the World Series early if both League Championship Series are short. MLB last year said Game 1 would move up from Oct. 25 to Oct. 22 if the LCS ended by Oct. 19, when both leagues were scheduled to be through Game 5. But the New York Mets won Game 5 of the NL Championship Series before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6. Since the LCS expanded to best-of-seven in 1985, both leagues ended in four or five games in 1989, 2001, 2002, 2014 and 2022. Last year was the first in which MLB announced a flexible schedule. Game 7 of this year's World Series would be on Nov. 1. The World Series ended in November in 2001, '09, '10, '15, '16, '17, '21 and '22 and '23, going as late as Nov. 5 in 2022. The World Series is scheduled to start on a Friday for the fifth straight year. Before 2022, the Series had not started on a Friday since 1915. NL Division Series will have an extra scheduled off day between Games 1 and 2, a format that allows a team to have the same pitchers start Games 1 and 4, and Games 2 and 5 on normal four days' rest. Last year, AL Division Series had the extra off day. All four best-of-three Wild Card Series are scheduled for consecutive days from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at the side of the higher seed. Twelve teams make the playoffs under the format that began in 2022. The top two teams in each league get first-round byes, while the No. 3 seed faces No. 6 and No. 4 plays No. 5. The higher seed will be home in each best-of-three series. In the best-of-five Division Series, the top seed plays the 3-vs.-6 winner and the No. 2 seed plays the 4-vs.-5 winner. The Division Series will have the familiar format of the higher seed home for Games 1 and 2, and, if necessary, Game 5. AL Division Series also will start Oct. 4-5 followed by travel day and switch to the other sites for games on Oct. 7-8. Game 5s would be Oct. 10. NL Division Series start on Oct. 4, have an off day followed by a game on Oct. 5, then switch to the other cities on Oct. 8-9. After another travel day, Game 5s would be played Oct. 11. The AL Championship Series starts Oct. 12 and the NL Championship Series the following day, with off days after Game 2s and Game 5s. Reporting by The Associated Press. 2025 AL East Odds: Can Yankees Catch Blue Jays, Red Sox?
Major League Baseball 2025 AL East Odds: Can Yankees Catch Blue Jays, Red Sox? Published Aug. 13, 2025 11:17 a.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Historically, and even in recent years, the AL East has belonged to the Yankees. But this season doesn't appear to be aligning itself with historical precedent. Which squad is favored to win the AL East this season? Here are the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Aug. 13, as well as what to know about the division. AL East winner Blue Jays: -300 (bet $10 to win $13.33 total) Yankees: +450 (bet $10 to win $55 total) Red Sox: +550 (bet $10 to win $65 total) Rays: +40000 (bet $10 to win $4,010 total) What to know: All-time, the Yankees have won the division 21 times, including nine straight times from 1998 to 2006, and three times in the last six seasons, including last year (94-68). New York went on to lose to the Dodgers in five games in the World Series last season. This year has been an uneven one for New York so far, as it currently sits third in the division, behind the Blue Jays and the rival Red Sox. As of Aug. 13, Toronto has the second-best record in all of baseball to go along with a 4.5-game lead over Boston and a six-game lead over New York. Oddly enough, it has the third-best run differential in the division by a wide margin. The Blue Jays have only won the division six times since its inception (1969), and last won it in 2015 before losing in the ALCS. However, the previous two times Toronto claimed the AL East? Well, that resulted in back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. Remaining matchups: The Blue Jays, Yankees and Red Sox all have three games remaining against each other.
