UNC's Mike Lombardi calls out ‘comical' Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson ‘narrative'
'Noise' is the new buzzword at North Carolina for describing anything mentioning the 'It' couple on campus.
North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi – head coach Bill Belichick's right-hand man – appeared Saturday on ESPN Radio's 'Marty and McGee' and was asked about all the recent reporting around Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
'I mean, a lot of it is just noise,' Lombardi said, according to Pro Football Talk. 'And for us to be distracted by something that has no bearing, that has no relevance whatsoever, that is a complete falsehood in terms of what people are saying or what they're writing, it's comical. And for me to really even attack anybody who's saying it gives them credibility. Which I don't, because it's a completely false narrative.'

Belichick used the same term this week when asked about the slew of reports that have followed his disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview in April.
It was meant to promote his book 'The Art of Winning,' but ended up drawing attention to the influence that the 24-year-old Hudson seems to be wielding over the 73-year-old greatest coach in NFL history because she wouldn't let him answer a question on how they met.

'Look, I'm really focused on doing my job here at North Carolina… that's my big focus,' Belichick said when asked what the biggest misconception about him is amid the public interest in his personal life. 'Is there noise out there? We've always dealt with that.'
While Belichick didn't get into specific denials, Lombardi sort of did. He twisted an interpretation of factual reports that Belichick's contract buyout dropped from $10 million to $1 million on June 1.

'One report [said Belichick] wasn't supposed to be here [at] the beginning of June. And the next report came out that he was going to go back to the NFL,' Lombardi said. 'I mean, it's all just a bunch of stuff being thrown up against the wall. … And the noise out there comes from a direction of people trying to be disruptive within our program. We're not going to allow it. We're not going to acknowledge it. We're going to move on. And look, let's face it, the proof's in the pudding. We're having a tremendous recruiting class. We had a tremendous portal.'

Former Bears public relations executive Brandon Faber joined the North Carolina staff in May.
Some of the reports that have surfaced are based on open public records like emails from university addresses and The Post's combing through real-estate purchase documents.
'Everybody looked at each other and was like in complete amazement,' Lombardi said of the public reaction to the CBS interview. 'I mean, so, we didn't have any reason to circle the wagons. The reason we had was to focus on what we're going to do. As Bill said in a lot of the interviews — and I don't want to speak for Coach Belichick — but he said, 'Look, Jordon does stuff in his business outside of North Carolina football, not here.'
'I mean, it's just completely a story that was generated from — basically, made up. You could be a great novelist, some of the people that report this stuff.'

With loss in College World Series, Dave Van Horn and Arkansas facing another postseason heartbreak
OMAHA, NE ― Dave Van Horn has built Arkansas into one of college baseball's best powerhouses. Under Van Horn, the Razorbacks have made the NCAA tournament 21 times with eight College World Series appearances. Van Horn himself has been named SEC Coach of the Year three times. But there's one accolade still missing: a national championship. And the route to that feat got a lot harder with Arkansas' 4-1 loss to LSU on June 14 in its Men's College World Series opener at Charles Schwab Field to drop to the losers' bracket. The Razorbacks will face Murray State in an elimination game June 16. Arkansas is one of the best programs nationally to never win a national title. Entering 2025, its 11 trips to Omaha without a title were fourth in the country after Florida State (24), North Carolina (12) and Clemson (12). But Clemson hasn't made it to Omaha since 2010, and Florida State and North Carolina have been in and out of relevance. Arkansas has made five of the last 10 College World Series; meanwhile, in that span, Florida State has gone three times, North Carolina twice and Clemson not at all. The Razorbacks' road to the title will be a long and difficult one. They'll need to win four games in four days to even advance to the championship series, then two of their final three should they stave off elimination. In the last 25 tournaments, 22 champions won their first game. Van Horn should be familiar with one of the teams that didn't, though — 2018 Oregon State, the team that beat Arkansas in the championship series after three Razorbacks failed to catch what would've been a championship-clinching pop-up. Since then, the postseason has been full of heartbreak. The 2019 team went to Omaha but lost two one-run games to get eliminated. The 2021 team was the No. 1 national seed and heavy title favorite but dropped a home super regional to NC State. The 2023 and 2024 teams both lost home regionals as national seeds. Only the 2022 team — the only Arkansas team since 2016 to not host a regional — did well in Omaha, making it to the semifinals. "We need to move on from this one and get over it and not think too far down the road," Van Horn said. "We've just got to take care of business on Monday. We need to play good Monday because if we don't there's no Tuesday. ... These guys, they've come back and won games. They've done some great things this year. So that's what I told them. We've got a bullpen full of pitchers. We've got a bunch of hitters that can hit. They didn't have a good night. We need to move on and get ready for Monday." Van Horn will face some tricky decisions with his pitching. He said the likely starter for the elimination game was Gage Wood. After that, he could turn to Landon Beidelschies, Aiden Jimenez or Colin Fisher. Starter Zach Root, who lasted just 1⅔ innings and threw 38 pitches, could return as soon as Tuesday. But relief ace Gabe Gaeckle, who pitched a career-high six innings out of the bullpen, likely won't be available until at least the semifinals, if Arkansas makes it that far. WINNERS AND LOSERS: College World Series winners and losers: The best and worst from Day 2 in Omaha In theory, if anyone has the pitching and offensive depth to make a run through the losers' bracket, it's the Razorbacks. Arkansas ranks top-15 nationally in on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS), home runs and ERA. While Root has been a solid arm, the Razorbacks have thrived all season without a true ace to the level of LSU's Kade Anderson, who threw seven innings of one-run ball in the opener. Instead, Arkansas has the sort of reliable relief options that every team longs for. And its starting lineup for the opener featured seven players with double-digit home runs. "No one here is worried," outfielder Charles Davalan said. "We'll try to be ready by Monday and play hard." The Razorbacks have won four games in four or fewer days once this season, when they swept Washington State on opening weekend. But the College World Series is an entirely different challenge, and it's one Van Horn will need to solve for the first time to finally get the monkey off his back. NFL Legend Deion Sanders Is Battling ‘Unspecified' Illness, Cancels Speaking Engagements
University of Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders is dealing with an illness that's keeping him away from the team and other professional obligations. Sanders, 57, currently has an 'unspecified health issue' and has been away at his home in Texas, according to USA Today. Advertisement The health situation comes as the University of Colorado's annual slate of summer camps get underway in Boulder. Sanders was present for the camps in both 2023 and 2024. Sanders' involvement in the camps is 'listed as one of the official duties in his employment contract with CU,' per USA Today. Deion Sanders Told Travis Hunter to Get a Prenup in Resurfaced Video After Relationship Drama The NFL Hall of Famer is preparing to enter his third season as head coach at the school. Us Weekly reached out to the University of Colorado for comment. Sanders was also forced to cancel a scheduled speaking engagement at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday, June 8. Advertisement "Due to an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change, our originally scheduled Foundation Keynote Speaker, Deion Sanders 'Coach Prime,' is unable to attend,' the organization posted via X on Thursday, June 5. 'We are grateful for his support and look forward to future opportunities to welcome him." Sanders' son Deion Jr. provided a vague update about his father's well-being in a YouTube livestream on Sunday. 'He'll tell y'all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,' Deion Jr., 31, reportedly said, insisting his father was 'feeling well.' He added, 'When we get back in Boulder, I don't know. I'm waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I'll go. Until then, I'm gonna sit here with him.' Deion shares sons Shilo, 25, and Shedeur, 23, and daughter Shelomi, 21, with his second wife, Pilar Biggars-Sanders. Shedeur Sanders' Mom Pilar Sanders Offers 'No Apologies' Following NFL Draft Drama The upcoming college football season will be Deion's first without son Shedeur at quarterback since 2020. The father-son duo had two seasons together at Jackson State before they both jumped to Colorado for the 2023 season. Shedeur was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns in April's NFL Draft, ending a dramatic freefall after some draft experts predicted he would be drafted in the first round. Advertisement Last month, Deion addressed Shedeur's draft slide, arguing it will give his son the fire he needs to be successful in the NFL. "It did hurt,' Deion said on the 'Say What Needs To Be Said' podcast on May 30. 'But the Bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. There was some foolish stuff that went on, but that gave them something that they needed.'

Angel City FC players wear ‘Immigrant City Football Club' shirts amid ongoing immigration raids
Angel City FC responded to immigration raids and the resulting protests in Los Angeles during Saturday night's home match against North Carolina. The NWSL club printed 10,000 t-shirts which read 'Immigrant City Football Club' on the front, and 'Los Angeles is for everyone / Los Ángeles es para todos' on the back. Advertisement The shirts were distributed to supporters and fans entering BMO Stadium. Some ACFC players wore the shirts during player arrivals, and new head coach Alexander Straus also sported the shirt along with the rest of the club's technical staff and players on the bench. The club distributed cards with a new statement from the club, following their initial statement released on June 7. The cards read in part, 'The fabric of this city is made of immigrants. Football does not exist without immigrants. This club does not exist without immigrants.' Recording artist and founding investor Becky G read that message from the field before player walk-outs. Angel City worked with supporters groups in the lead up to Saturday's match on the messaging and larger action. Earlier this week, the NWSL Players Association released a statement in conjunction with the WNBA Players Association regarding the ongoing immigration raids. 'We stand with all people seeking safety, dignity, and opportunity, no matter where they come from or where they hope to go,' The statement read. 'Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We know not every situation is simple. But offering compassion should never be up for debate.' A post shared by WNBPA (@thewnbpa) The league itself has not issued a statement of any kind addressing the immigration raids or in support of immigrants. Some individual clubs, including Angel City and Chicago Stars FC, have released brief statements pointing to relevant resources. Statement from Chicago Stars FC. Resources: • IMMR: • The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights [image or embed] — Chicago Stars FC (@ June 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM Angel City's coordinated action on Saturday night is an elevated response following the events of the past week. Last weekend at BMO Stadium, Los Angeles FC supporters remained silent through the MLS club's 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City. They also took up six rows of seats in the supporters' end of the stadium for a large banner reading: 'Abolish ICE.' Advertisement That banner, and others, technically violated both the MLS Code of Conduct and stadium policies, but it appears no action was taken. Angel City, as a tenant of BMO Stadium, may not have the same ability to prevent stadium staff from removing banners or other signage that may violate stadium policies or NWSL's Code of Conduct. BMO Stadium rules reference MLS's guidelines, rather than the NWSL's. The list of prohibited items per stadium policies include 'flags, banners, or signs which in any way reference current conflicts or countries involved therein (in accordance with MLS Guidelines)' as well as 'flags, banners, signs, clothing, or other accessories or adornments that reference any political party, candidate (current or former), or measure in any Federal, State, or Local election.' Angel City's regular season match is happening on the same night as a Concacaf Gold Cup match between Mexico and the Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium, as well as the opening match of FIFA's men's Club World Cup in Miami. Earlier this week, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol removed a social media post referencing its presence at the Club World Cup games after FIFA expressed concern. BMO Stadium is currently outside of the area of Los Angeles under a nighttime curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
