From drama-filled nominations to surprise evictions, Bigg Boss has always thrived on its larger-than-life hosts. Whether it's Salman Khan's commanding presence, Nagarjuna's effortless charm, or Mohanlal's magnetic warmth, each brings their own flavour to the reality juggernaut. But beyond the glitz, glamour, and tense moments inside the house, have you wondered which celebrity host takes home the fattest pay cheque? As Bigg Boss 19 is all set to premiere on August 24 with the theme 'Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar', there has been much buzz about the show, its contestants, host's remunerations and celebrities who have refused to join the reality show. Amid this, let's take a look at how much Salman Khan, Mohanlal and Nagarjuna are earning from their Bigg Boss hosting duties.According to SCREEN, Salman Khan will host roughly 15 weekends, reportedly charging between Rs 8 and Rs 10 crore per weekend. With this season being primarily a digital-first release on JioCinema and Colors TV airing episodes later, Salman's massive fee reflects the show's OTT-heavy push. The season is also breaking records as the longest ever, stretching for five months. After Salman's 12-week stint, celebrity hosts like Farah Khan, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor will take over to keep the momentum going.Down south in Kerala, Bigg Boss Malayalam 7, hosted by Mohanlal, kicked off on August 3 and is already keeping audiences glued with its dramatic eliminations and shocking twists. Mohanlal's hosting skills continue to be a major draw, and according to Siasat, he might be earning around Rs 24 crore for the season. This year Appani Sarath, Renu Sudhi, Shanavas Shanu, Sarika KB, Gizele Thakral, Ranjeet Munshi, Binny Sebastian, RJ Bincy and many others are part of the show.Meanwhile, in the Telugu camp, Bigg Boss 9 is set to return on September 7 with Akkineni Nagarjuna at the helm for his sixth consecutive season. This year, he has reportedly hiked his fee to a jaw-dropping Rs 30 crore, according to Siasat. The show is also shaking things up by letting commoners into the house, promising fresh dynamics alongside celebrity contestants. To choose the commoner contestants, a pre-show called Agnipariksha will take place, where around 40 shortlisted participants will face tough tasks and compete in teams. This season also introduces a Double House format at Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad, promising even more drama and surprises.

MV Minajagi Art Gallery seeks support for infra development

Hubballi: The MV Minajagi Art Gallery, which long struggled to secure a permanent space for its painting exhibitions, has finally regained access to a dedicated building in Vidyanagar. Constructed specifically to support artistic pursuits, the building was handed over to the Dr MV Minajagi Kala Mandir Samiti in Jan. However, the gallery continues to grapple with the lack of basic infrastructure such as electricity and painting. In a bid to address these challenges, the gallery sought assistance from the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) and local elected representatives. The HDMC relocated its zonal office from the first floor to the ground floor of the building, thereby allocating the upper floor exclusively for the gallery's use. Efforts are on to transform the space into a vibrant space for artists and enthusiasts alike. However, support from local authorities and the community will be crucial in realising this vision. GR Mallapur, secretary, Dr MV Minajagi Kala Mandir Samiti, said they approached Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai for funding. "Tenginakai assured Rs 10 lakh for the project and directed HDMC officials to prepare a detailed estimate and begin work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? The samiti also requested MLA Tenginkai for a separate entrance for gallery visitors and the installation of special lighting to enhance the display of artworks. Mallapur pointed out that cold walls damage the artworks during the rainy season. He stated that the walls need to be repaired and painted to prevent this. "Essential items such as ceiling fans, four tables, 100 plastic chairs, and 10 VIP chairs for guests are also required. A microphone and speaker system are also among the requirements," he said. Other necessities include two shelves to store documents, books, and other materials; installation of CCTVs, one computer, one printer, and an air-conditioning system," he added. Shankar Kadakuntla, an artist and member of the committee, said despite the shortcomings, the gallery managed to conduct seven programmes so far. MLA Mahesh Tenginakai assured that steps will be taken to uplift the art gallery. "Development works will be undertaken in phases, based on the requirements," he said. Rs 90L in subsidies, but artisans still struggle with rising costs

(PTI Photo)(PTI08_13_2025_000314B) Karad: An artist gives finishing touches to an idol of Lord Ganesha ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi festival, in Karad, Maharashtra. (PTI Photo) (PTI08_08_2025_000137B) Despite the corporation's subsidy scheme, traditional idol makers struggle with rising costs, insufficient aid, and labour shortages. Morajkar said the survey to identify PoP idol sales began on Aug 8, and so far, GHRSSIDC's inspection has flagged none. He said that the inspection will continue until Aug 24. 'Local mud clay idols are the customer's first choice, due to our awareness campaigns. The Shadu Mati and coconut fibre idols from Maharashtra are in demand, but not as much as the local clay ones,' Morajkar told TOI . GHRSSIDC offers a subsidy of Rs 250 per idol for up to 250 idols to the local idol makers. As of July 2025, GHRSSIDC received 367 local vendor applications for registration. In 2024, 475 vendors received subsidies totalling Rs 90.5 lakh on the sale of 45,248 idols, Morajkar said. Pernem, Sattari, and Bicholim talukas have the highest concentration of traditional idol makers in Goa. 'Earlier, we used to get the Chikal Mati at Rs 20,000 for a 10m truck. Now, the prices have risen to Rs 25,000,' said Bicholim sculptor Durgaram Shet. Local artisans allege the PoP idol ban is not strictly enforced. The clay idols are heavier, with rich colours being another distinguishing feature. Umakant Poke, a third-generation sculptor from Morjim, said that because certain vendors sell PoP idols, local sculptors catch negative attention from handicraft officials. 'They think we are selling PoP idols. We are trying to earn money with our honest efforts,' Poke said. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
