Panchayat star Aasif Khan suffers heart attack at 34, says 'Life is too short'; experts list signs to watch in your 30s

Time of India5 days ago
Popular actor of Panchayat, Aasif Khan, who is also a famous face on another OTT series called Mirzapur and Paatal Lok, reportedly suffered a heart attack on Monday evening. The 34-year-old actor took to his Instagram story to reveal the news. However, now he is in a stable condition and is out of danger.
Well, it's just another day and another case of a heart attack in a young individual. The actor in the post assured his fans that he is recovering, but also warned fans not to take any day for granted. In the post, the actor wrote, 'Over the past few hours, I've been dealing with some health issues that required hospitalisation. I'm grateful to share that I'm now on the road to recovery and feeling much better.'
Aasif also shared a photo from the hospital on his Instagram stories with a heartfelt post saying, "Realising after watching this for the past 36 hours, 'Life is short'; don't take one day for granted. Everything can change in a moment. Be grateful for all you have and all that you are. Remember who is more important to you and always cherish them. Life is a gift, and we are blessed (sic)."
Rise in heart attack cases among young individuals
Heart attacks, or myocardial infarctions, can occur in individuals who appear healthy, often due to a combination of underlying factors that may not be immediately evident.
According to an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) study, when it comes to cardiovascular risk factors, a critical and lesser-known fact is that they are additive. For example, a person who is diabetic and the one who smokes will significantly increase the risk of heart disease in the future.
"One significant cause is the presence of atherosclerosis, a condition where plaque builds up in the arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow to the heart. Even seemingly healthy individuals can have silent, undiagnosed conditions that contribute to this process, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure," says Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director, Cardiologist, Gleneagles at Hospital Parel.
Major reasons behind the rise in sudden attacks in people in their 30s
There are multiple factors, including a rise in acute stress due to poor lifestyle habits, that can lead to physical and emotional responses that can increase the heart rate and blood pressure.
"Stressful events or chronic stress can result in inflammation, contributing to plaque rupture and subsequent heart attacks," adds Dr. Gupta.
Heart attack signs to look out for in your 30s
Lifestyle decisions like smoking, eating poorly, and not exercising can also have a big impact. Diets heavy in processed foods, sweets, and saturated fats raise the risk of heart disease and obesity. "In the 30s, heart attack symptoms may be subtle and easily overlooked," says Dr. Nasiruddin G, Consultant-Internal Medicine, Fortis Hospital, Cunningham Road.
Here are some warning signs mentioned below:
Persistent chest discomfort or pressure
Often described as tightness or heaviness
Radiating to the left arm, neck, or jaw
Shortness of breath during mild exertion
Sudden fatigue
Cold sweats
Dizziness
Nausea can signal underlying cardiac distress.
Irregular heartbeat
Palpitations
Feelings of anxiety without cause may also be red flags.
Dr. Nasiruddin also notes that while younger adults are generally at lower risk, family history, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, and stress contribute to early onset.

Uorfi Javed lip filler saga: Doctor warns of grave risk; says one wrong shot can cause blindness, kill skin cells

Actor and influencer Uorfi Javed recently revealed on Instagram that she had her lip fillers dissolved after finding them 'very misplaced.' In a short video, she documented the process and called out cosmetic procedures done by doctors without proper expertise. Her caption also noted how painful the process was and stressed the need to consult experienced professionals for cosmetic treatments. Lip fillers usually contain hyaluronic acid, a water-absorbing substance naturally found in the body. These injections are used to give shape, structure, and fullness to the lips. But what happens when things go wrong? What is lip filler dissolution and how is it done? When fillers are misplaced or the results are unsatisfactory, dermatologists can use an enzyme called hyaluronidase to dissolve them. This breaks down the hyaluronic acid in the filler and allows the body to excrete it naturally through the liver and kidneys. The treatment usually takes about 10–15 minutes, and although there might be swelling, tenderness, or bruising, these symptoms typically fade in a few days. In some cases, multiple sessions may be required if complications are present. Ice packs or numbing creams can help reduce discomfort after the procedure. What can go wrong and why should you be cautious? Speaking on the matter, Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, director and chief dermatologist, MedLinks group of clinics from Delhi told Indiatimes, 'Fillers should only be done by qualified dermatologists or plastic surgeons. Many people get them done at spas or unlicensed clinics for cheap, and that's risky.' One of the most serious complications is vascular occlusion, where filler enters an artery and blocks blood flow to the skin, possibly causing permanent skin damage or, in rare cases, vision loss if it travels toward the eye. Other concerns include swelling after extraction and the need for accurate injection technique. An expert must know the anatomy and blood supply of the treated area to perform the procedure safely. New fashion ft. Urfi Javed 😳😳 Dos and Don'ts before and after filler or dissolution Schedule it at least a week before any major event. Share your complete medical history, including any history of herpes or autoimmune disorders. Stay hydrated. Stop blood thinners like aspirin at least 3 days prior. After the procedure: Use an ice pack to ease swelling. Avoid touching or massaging the treated area. Don't wear makeup or lipstick for 24 hours. Eat soft foods for a day. Skip intense workouts, smoking, sauna, or steam for at least 48 hours. Avoid kissing for 24 hours. Stop smoking for 48 hours after the fillers Use painkillers or Arnica ointment if needed for bruising. Watch out for complications: Any whitening or pallor of the area Severe pain that increases every few hours Changes in vision Cold sores or herpes flare-ups (preventive medication may be prescribed) Cosmetic procedures should always be done by trained professionals. A few shortcuts can cause long-term risks and painful corrections. To stay updated on the stories that are going viral follow Indiatimes Trending.

Protein Confusion: Do Indians Really Need Supplements Or Just Better Diets?

Last Updated: For most Indians, the key to better health doesn't lie in supplements but in a diverse, balanced, and nutrient-rich diet Protein is known as the 'building block" of the body because it is essential for muscle recovery, hormone production, immune function, and overall growth. In India, however, there's a lot of confusion around protein intake. While gym-goers often stock up on tubs of protein powder, many vegetarians worry they aren't getting enough protein. Others question whether supplements are necessary at all, or if a balanced diet can provide adequate protein without the need for powders or pills. Nidhi Sahai, Head of Clinical Dietetics & Nutrition at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, shares all you need to know: Are Indians Consuming Enough Protein? Multiple national surveys suggest that a significant portion of the Indian population does not meet the recommended protein intake. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recommends approximately 0.8 to 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight for healthy adults. However, several studies indicate that many urban and rural Indians—particularly women, vegetarians, and older adults—fall short of this target. This gap is often not due to a lack of available protein sources, but rather diets that are heavily skewed toward carbohydrates (such as rice, chapati, and potatoes) and lacking in high-quality protein. Not necessarily, especially if you're a healthy individual who isn't engaged in intense physical training. A well-planned and balanced diet can meet the protein needs of most people. Many natural sources of protein can easily be incorporated into daily meals, including: Lentils and legumes (dal, chana, rajma) Dairy (milk, paneer, curd) Eggs, chicken, and fish Soy products (tofu, soy chunks) Nuts and seeds When Are Protein Supplements Useful? Protein supplements may be helpful in specific situations, such as: Athletes or bodybuilders who need increased protein intake Elderly individuals with poor appetite or chewing difficulties Post-surgery patients needing faster recovery Individuals with medical conditions or protein deficiencies—under professional supervision However, excessive or unnecessary supplementation, especially without proper guidance, can overburden the kidneys and lead to digestive discomfort or imbalances. What's the Real Need? Better Food Literacy and Balanced Meals Instead of rushing to the supplement aisle, most people would benefit from a greater understanding of how to build balanced meals. Consider the following tips: Include a protein source at every meal Combine cereals with pulses (e.g., rice + dal, roti + besan) Incorporate curd, milk, or buttermilk daily Choose nutritious snacks like roasted chana, boiled eggs, or nuts Limit ultra-processed foods that offer calories but little nutritional value While protein powders offer convenience, they cannot replicate the holistic benefits of real food which also provides essential micronutrients, antioxidants, fiber, and other vital compounds that support overall health. For most Indians, the key to better health doesn't lie in supplements but in a diverse, balanced, and nutrient-rich diet. With greater awareness and mindful eating habits, we can meet our protein needs naturally—one wholesome meal at a time. view comments First Published: July 21, 2025, 16:10 IST News lifestyle » health-and-fitness Protein Confusion: Do Indians Really Need Supplements Or Just Better Diets?
