Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath launches key welfare projects in Gorakhpur
These initiatives are important steps in making Gorakhpur a smart city.
'I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Nagariya Seva Kendra. The Uttar Pradesh government has also launched the Senior Citizen Day Care Centre, a dedicated space where elderly individuals can spend their day. The centre offers a canteen, morning yoga, newspapers, and spiritual texts from the library, ensuring all-around care and well-being,' stated CM Yogi during his address.
He further added that,'Our Gorakhpur is on the path of development. True progress is only meaningful when it directly benefits the people.'
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a Janta Darshan at the Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on Monday. The Chief Minister heard the grievances and demands of the people who had gathered to meet him.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister lauded the establishment of the BrahMos Missile Integration Unit in Lucknow, calling it a landmark step for India's defense capability, adding that weapons made in Lucknow 'will shake the enemy'.
The facility, set up under the Defence Industrial Corridor initiative, will manufacture BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, boosting India's defense capabilities and reducing dependence on imports.
Addressing a public gathering in Gorakhpur, CM Yogi said,'... The biggest terror state is Pakistan. Brahmos is a missile that targeted a Pakistani aircraft recently and it will now be manufactured in Lucknow... Weapons will be made that will shake the enemy...'
Adityanath's comments came amid Operation Sindoor, India's military operation targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The BrahMos facility aligns with the Make-in-India initiative, promoting self-reliance in defense production and positioning Lucknow as a defense manufacturing hub.
He also urged citizens to remain alert against 'anti-national' elements and boycott anyone who speaks against India's interests.'We are secure when our country is secure, and that happens when we all keep the nation first... Public should be aware of anyone who makes any statement that is anti-national and boycott them,' he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya echoed the sentiment, emphasising the significance of the BrahMos unit as part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor.
'Under the defence corridor, the historic unit for integration of the BrahMos missile is an important step towards making India a superpower. This is a huge achievement for PM Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the double-engine Government, and the more it is appreciated, the less it is. I express gratitude to all scientists and engineers of DRDO,' he said, extending his gratitude to the scientists and engineers of DRDO. (ANI)

The United Kingdom and Uttar Pradesh signed the Chevening scholarship agreement on Tuesday, allowing five students every year to go to UK for studies by providing a fully funded scholarship. The agreement was signed while British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron paid a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. As part of the Chevening Scholarship agreement, five students from Uttar Pradesh will go to the United Kingdom for studies every year, and will be provided a fully funded scholarship. (Representative image/Unsplash) Right after shaking hands with UP CM on the agreement, British High Commissioner expressed confidence over the growing relations between UK and India, with the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Vision 35 helping open up many opportunities for businesses. "It's wonderful to be here in Lucknow today to sign with the Chief Minister the agreement on the new Chevening scholarships which we're announcing together between the United Kingdom and Uttar Pradesh. This will give the opportunity for five students every year for the next three years to go to the UK on a fully funded scholarship which is part of the fantastic and growing relationship between the United Kingdom and India," High Commissioner Cameron told ANI right after the meeting. So it's great to be here talking about education and talking about the fantastic opportunities for business that the FTA will also allow us to explore here between the UK and India." Chevening is the UK Government's international scholarships programme. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and partner organisations, they offer people the opportunity to further their education in the UK. To qualify for the scholarship, a student must hold an undergraduate degree to qualify for a masters programme in the UK. One must apply to three different eligible courses in the western country and receive an unconditional offer from atleast one of those courses. Once selected, the people will have their university tuition funded, receive a monthly stipend, receive travel allowance to and form UK, an arrival allowance. The cost of one visa application will be funded and a travel grant will be given to attend Chevening events in the UK.

'Upward trend' in ties with China, says Ajit Doval in talks with Wang Yi

Highlighting peace along the borders, Doval noted, "I'm very happy that since then, in the last 9 months, there has been an upwards trend. Borders have been quiet. There has been peace and tranquillity. Our bilateral engagements have been more substantial", news agency ANI reported. Doval's remarks come at a time when Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on a two-day visit to India, making his first visit to India in three years. Echoing the same sentiment as Doval's, in a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Wang Yi, on Monday, said that the ties between the two countries are showing a positive trend towards returning to cooperation. India-China ties The ties between the two Asian neighbours deteriorated after the deadly Galwan clash of 2020 along the Line of Actual Control. However, recently, the two neighbours have pushed forward to mend ties, with New Delhi reinstating tourist visas for Chinese nationals and Beijing loosening curbs on urea exports. The mending in ties between India and China also comes at a time when the US has imposed 50 per cent tariffs on India. While the 25 per cent tariffs were imposed as the negotiations under the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement stalled, another 25 per cent was imposed as "secondary sanctions" for purchasing Russian energy at a time when the US President Donald Trump is trying to broker a ceasefire deal between Russia and Ukraine.

'Nehru partitioned country twice': PM Modi slams ex PM for Indus Water Treaty; calls him 'anti-farmer' at NDA meet
Prime Minister speaks at NDA's parliamentary meet on Tuesday (PTI photo) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday again slammed former Prime Minister Jawaharal Nehru saying he admitted the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan brought no benefit to India. Speaking during the National Democractic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary meet, PM Modi said that the former PM partitioned the country twice- once with the Radcliffe Line, and then with the treaty, sources told news agency ANI. "Nehru partitioned the country once, and then again. Under the Indus Water Treaty, 80 percent of the water was given to Pakistan. Later, through his secretary, Nehru admitted his mistake, saying that it brought no benefit," PM said, as quoted by ANI. He further called the treaty anti-farmer. The Radcliffe line was established as the boundary between India and Pakistan in 1947, demarcated by British lawyer Sir Cyril Radcliffe. This line divided the provinces of Punjab and Bengal into two separate territories, India and Pakistan. Signed in 1960, the Indus Water Treatygoverns the sharing of the Indus River system between India and Pakistan. Under the agreement, Pakistan received control over the western rivers — Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab — while India got control over the eastern rivers — Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej. The decision carries serious implications for Pakistan, which relies on the western rivers for agriculture and drinking water in its cities. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi was quick to hit back at PM Modi, saying that despite being in the Centre for 11 years, the PM has been avoiding responsibility by constantly blaming the former prime minister. "In these 10-11 years, there are many things for which they (BJP) have blamed Nehru ji's to wash their hands of responsibility. They should fulfil their responsibilities, stop talking about the past, and talk about what is happening today. They should answer why SIR is being done, and talk about the issue of vote theft. If this is not true, then tell the public," the Congress leader told reporters outside parliament. This is not the first time the prime minister has blamed Nehru for the Indus Water Treaty. Speaking in the parliament on July 29, the prime minister said that Nehru acknowledged the mistake to Nirajan Das Gulati, who was involved with the agreement. "Nehru told him that he hoped the treaty would open the way for solving other problems, but they were still where they started. Nehru was only able to see the immediate effects, but the truth is that this agreement set the country back significantly, harming our farmers and agriculture. Nehru's diplomacy didn't consider existence of farmers," PM Modi said. The NDA meeting also saw the prime minister introducing NDA's vice-president candidate pick CP Radhakrishan, calling him a grassroots leader of from the Other Backward Class (OBC) community. The prime minister also urged the opposition to support NDA's candidate. Meanwhile, INDIA block has announced former SC judge B Sudershan Reddy as its candidate for the vice president's post.
