Akshay Kumar
, who recently appeared in
Kesari Chapter 2

Speaking in an interview shared on Zee Music India's YouTube channel, Akshay explained his relationship with the audience. "Audience hi maalik hai because they pay for the whole thing. When they clap for me, then it's a motivation and when they criticise, I get to learn as well. I always want to evolve my work. If I get genuine feedback, I never ignore it. Be it script choices or role selection. It has happened several times when people have said, 'Kuch alag karo.' So, I tried doing different movies as well. Criticism hurts sometimes, but if it comes from the heart, then it only makes you better," he said.
The actor emphasized that while positive feedback energizes him, constructive criticism plays a crucial role in helping him refine his craft. He shared that he always strives to diversify his roles and grow with every project he takes on.
Fear of Becoming Irrelevant
During the same conversation, Akshay Kumar candidly spoke about his deepest fear — the fear of becoming irrelevant in the industry. He said, "Besides falling from a helicopter, my biggest fear is that when I wake up one day and there are no messages. Uss din mujhe lagega ki meri baari khatam hogayi. I am not needed now. I think this is the reason why I don't want to stop. I want to keep on working. It is a small life. I don't want to rest and make my life smaller. I want it to be bigger. Main tab araam karunga jab iss duniya mein nahi rahunga. In simple words, I'll keep on working till they have to shoot me down."
Akshay expressed that the thought of not receiving calls or messages regarding work is something that truly frightens him. It pushes him to stay active and continuously seek opportunities to perform and contribute. According to him, work keeps him alive and connected with life, and he wants to keep going without taking breaks, believing that resting would only make his life feel shorter.
Continual Evolution Through Films
Throughout his career, Akshay Kumar has been recognized for taking on projects that not only entertain but also bring attention to important social issues. Films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padman, and OMG 2 are examples of his efforts to spark meaningful conversations through cinema. He mentioned that when audiences relate to these stories and feel inspired, it feels rewarding as an actor.
Reflecting on his choices, Akshay shared that he always listens carefully to the audience's voice, whether they applaud or suggest change. His willingness to take feedback seriously has led him to experiment with a wide variety of roles and subjects over the years, underlining his commitment to constant evolution.
Kesari Chapter 2 Success
On the professional front, Akshay is currently enjoying the success of Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, a historical courtroom drama featuring R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday alongside him. The film has received a positive response and collected over ₹50 crore in India within the first eight days of its release. Globally, the film has managed to earn ₹75 crore, solidifying Akshay's position as an actor who continues to resonate with audiences across different genres.

Housefull 5 box office collection day 6: Akshay Kumar can finally breathe easy, film crosses Jolly LLB 2, Holiday, Sky Force

The negative reviews of Tarun Mansukhani's whodunit comedy Housefull 5 seems to be catching up with its box office performance now. Six days into release, the film's daily earnings finally dropped to single digits. However, that hasn't stopped the film from passing three more of lead actor Akshay Kumar's Rs 100 crore club movies. On Wednesday, Housefull 5 earned Rs 8 crore at the domestic box office, which was quite a drop from its Tuesday earnings of Rs 11.25 crore, a further dip from its Monday collection of Rs 13 crore. Over the opening weekend, Housefull 5 earned Rs 24 crore, Rs 31 crore, Rs 32.5 crore on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday respectively. As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Housefull 5 in India stands at Rs 119.75 crore. This has allowed it to cross the lifetime domestic earnings of three more Rs 100 crore grossers of Kumar — AR Murugadoss' 2014 action thriller Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (Rs 112.45 crore), Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani's action film Sky Force (Rs 112.75 crore), which released earlier this year, along with Subhash Kapoor's 2017 courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 117 crore). It had already surpassed other Rs 100 crore club members like Sajid Khan's 2012 comedy Housefull 2 (Rs 106 crore), Sajid-Farhad's 2016 comedy Housefull 3 (Rs 109.14 crore), and Reema Kagti's 2018 period sports drama Gold (Rs 104.72 crore). Its next target is Tinu Suresh Desai's 2016 crime thriller Rustom (Rs 127.49 crore), for which Kumar also won a National Award. Housefull 5 is Kumar's 18th film to enter the Rs 100 crore club. Besides the above mentioned films, others include Prabhu Deva's 2012 action comedy Rowdy Rathore (Rs 133.25 crore), Raja Krishna Menon's 2016 political thriller Airlift (Rs 128.1 crore), Shree Narayan Singh's 2017 romantic comedy Toilet – Ek Prem Katha (Rs 134.22 crore), S Shankar's 2018 Tamil sci-fi fantasy 2.0 (Rs 189.55 crore), Jagan Shakti's 2019 workplace drama Mission Mangal (Rs 202.98 crore), Farhad Samji's 2019 comedy Housefull 4 (Rs 194.60 crore), and Raj Mehta's 2019 romantic comedy Good Newwz (Rs 205.14 crore). Housefull 5 has also benefitted from the two versions — A and B — that it's released in. The endings and killers are different in each version of the whodunit comedy. The ensemble cast also helps the film as it consists of franchise regulars like Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chunky Panday, and Ranjit, along with new entrants like Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Nana Patekar, and Soundarya Sharma among others. Meanwhile, Housefull 5 is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, who has also written the story and screenplay.

Alia Kapoor? Reddit deduces Alia Bhatt has legally changed name after marriage to Ranbir Kapoor; here's 'proof'

Alia Bhatt made her red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival last month, wowing fans with her chic appearance as the L'Oreal brand ambassador at the festival. The actor recently shared a vlog of herself getting ready for the moment, giving a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes moments. What caught the internet's eye was how the hotel where she stayed at addressed her as 'Alia Kapoor', sparking speculations that the actor may have legally changed her name. (Also read: Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt's new Mumbai bungalow looks ready) The vlog, posted on Alia's official YouTube channel, shows the actor in her hotel room on the French Riviera. At one point in the video, Alia gets dressed and has her hair and makeup done by her team. In the background, the hotel's message for her is visible on an LCD. The message is addressed to 'Dear Alia Kapoor', implying that Alia has adopted the Kapoor surname since her wedding to Ranbir. The screengrab of the moment was shared on Reddit by some eagle-eyed fans. The top comment to the post read, "Must've taken her husband's name and kept Bhatt for her public-facing career since she is widely known by that surname." Others argued that the hotel may have erroneously written that. But Redditors said that since international hotels use booking IDs for such messages, it was likely Alia had legally changed her name. "How will a hotel in France know her husband's surname? 🤷🏼‍♀️ anyway, hotel booking is done according to your legal name on ID's," reasoned one Reddit user. While the internet debated the logic behind Alia changing her name - some dissed patriarchy while others called it her choice - many felt that Alia needs to remain a Bhatt as it's a 'brand' now. "But she's always be Alia Bhatt to me, naam mein wajan aagaya hai abhi (the name carries some heft). It's a brand name now," argued one. Another harked back to Alia's appearance on Koffee With Karan a couple of years ago and asked, "I thought it was "Alia Bhatt Kapoor" as she mentioned it on KWK. Ranveer got very happy and said it's got a ring to it." Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in April 2022 after years of dating. The two met on the sets of their 2022 film Brahmastra. Alia and Ranbir welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022. Alia will be next seen on the screen in YRF Spy Universe's Alpha, the first female-led spy universe film. It also stars Sharvari.

Tarun Mansukhani defends Housefull 5 against claims of sexism, objectifying women: 'The actual plot is driven by women'

Director Tarun Mansukhani has responded to criticism that his film Housefull 5 is sexist in its portrayal of women, defending his project by stating it's "driven by women'. He suggests that people who label the film as sexist are intentionally interpreting it through that perspective. Also read: Why Housefull 5's murder mystery has 2 different killers: Both endings of Akshay Kumar, Riteish, Abhishek film explained In an interview with News18 Showsha, Tarun spoke about the criticism around the storyline of the film. He understands that there is a lot of scrutiny on social media and thinks it is an indication that the film is working well. Hitting back at the people calling out the film for objectification, Tarun shared, 'It means that they're watching it with a certain eye and sensibility. You can scrutinise it. That's fine. You've paid money to watch it and so, you get to have an opinion on my film. It's not a placid film about which you don't care or have an opinion. For those who're calling it out, I want to say that it's your choice of seeing and focusing on that aspect of the film'. He doesn't agree with the sexist tag being given to the project, and mentioned, 'It's Sonam (Bajwa) who backstabs Riteish (Deshmukh) and helps further the plot, that in turn helps bring a third Jolly. The actual plot is driven by women – to get the money. There's a Soundarya who's equal parts a suspect in this entire thing'. When it comes to men, Tarun calls them 'flawed characters'. The director feels one 'may choose to see a sexist side to it, but I feel that I've done a lot more'. The comedy revolves around a murder on a cruise ship. A man is murdered shortly after a billionaire announces he will leave his wealth to his successor Jolly. The twist is that there are three Jollys on the cruise – Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan. Along with them, their girlfriends are all suspects in the murder. The film was released with two different climax sequences and has received a mixed response from critics. The fifth instalment of the Housefull franchise had a strong start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹55 crore net in India and ₹87 crore worldwide in two days. On day 6, the film registered business of ₹8 crore, taking the total to ₹119.75 crore. It also stars Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Johny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sonam Bajwa, and Soundarya Sharma.
