Longtime Cleveland Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot absolutely roasted former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick while accepting an award from the Pro Football Writers of America.
Cabot earned the prestigious 2025 Bill Nunn Memorial Award at the annual Enshrinees' Gold Jacket Dinner in Canton, Ohio, on Friday night, and she used part of her acceptance speech to rip into Belichick's alleged past treatment of her reporting.
Cabot reflected on the times Belichick allegedly called to yell at her for her Browns reporting back when he coached in Cleveland.
"If Bill didn't like something I wrote, he'd call and yell at me," Cabot shared in her speech. "If you asked a dumb question, he'd call you out. Eventually, I had to learn to stand up to him."
She recalled how, during one alleged yelling match, Cabot challenged Belichick to treat her with the same respect of her male colleagues. She then delivered a devastating zinger about his relationship with the much, much younger Jordon Hudson.
"Now, I totally understand why Bill gave me such a hard time," Cabot joked. "I was 28 at the time, and he just couldn't relate to a woman that old."
The roars of laughter from the crowd said it all. That is a truly devastating one-liner, and Cabot deserves another award for how thoroughly she trolled Belichick for allegedly giving her such a hard time in Cleveland .

Patriots reporter addresses specific concerns regarding Will Campbell

New England Patriots rookie Will Campbell is coming into the 2025 season with a ton of expectations, despite being new to the NFL. The offensive tackle is one of the highest-rated rookies in Madden NFL 26, and he has been under a heavy microscope since he first stepped onto the practice field. Campbell himself admitted on Friday that the NFL is vastly different than the collegiate ranks, noting that he has not been able to get away with some of the same stuff he did in college. Boston Sports Journal's Mike Giardi pinpointed some concerns in a recent column earlier this week. 'Up until Wednesday's practice, Campbell had been fine. He's shown to be an above-average run blocker during the padded practices we've seen, and while exposed at times as a pass blocker, it's not anything I didn't expect,' Giardi wrote. 'The two sacks allowed on Wednesday were concerning, and he was beaten on another play as well, but Drake Maye sidestepped the rush. Campbell had more issues on Friday and was beaten on back-to-back reps by Truman Jones. Welcome to life as an NFL left tackle.' The early struggles are certainly expected, given that Campbell is a rookie adjusting to the NFL level. His play overall could have a major impact on the Patriots offensively considering he is expected to serve as the starting left tackle. The receiving weapons won't matter if the team fails to protect second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.

Bill Belichick highlights impact of transfer portal on UNC's 2025 football roster

Exactly how many transfers joined the UNC football program this offseason? If you don't recognize many players on this year's UNC football roster, that's because of several 2024 departures and 2025 transfer portal additions. North Carolina will enter its highly-anticipated season with new starters across the board. The Tar Heels will have a new starting quarterback for the third-consecutive fall, a young wide receiver room and entirely new defensive line, which replaces every 2024 starter. On Saturday morning at UNC's first day of Training Camp, head coach Bill Belichick spoke extensively about his new team's roster overhaul, highlighting how he looked to fill positions through the spring portal. "We have a lot of new players, a little over 40 from the spring and 70 guys that weren't on last year's team," Belichick said. "The first portal, we're just trying to find guys to fill the team. Second portal, we're looking for good football players. We felt like any position, if the player wanted to come in and compete – and we thought it was a good player – then this is the right spot for him. We'll give everybody an opportunity to compete. We're going to have to earn our spots on the field.' One of North Carolina's latest portal additions is Boise State linebacker Andrew Simpson, who played a major role in helping the Broncos make their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance last season. Simpson started 11 games – and should slot in as a Day One starter for the Tar Heels. North Carolina didn't know if Max Johnson, its 2024 initial starting quarterback, would be ready by the start of training camp. The Tar Heels nabbed South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez, who thrived in 2024 as a first-time starting QB, in the transfer portal. Patriots rookie Efton Chism studying film of two-time Super Bowl champ

Undrafted #Patriots WR Efton Chism III says he's currently studying film of Danny also has nightly study sessions with Mack Hollins. New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III revealed he is currently studying film on former Patriots great Danny Amendola, as he works on getting acclimated to a new offensive system. It's certainly not a bad idea to study film on a two-time Super Bowl champion who made as great an impact as Amendola did in New England. He recorded 230 receptions for 2,386 yards and 12 touchdowns in five seasons with the Patriots. Perhaps his greatest contributions were his clutch playoff performances, where he tallied a total of 57 catches for 709 yards and six touchdowns in 13 postseason games. Chism has a similar physical makeup at receiver, and he is hoping to learn a thing or two from Amendola's tape. Chism stood out as a possible dark horse to make the final roster in the spring practices. That noise has dipped in training camp, but it could be on the verge of ramping back up with a strong preseason showing. Perhaps Chism can take successful elements from Amendola's game and apply them to his own approach in training camp. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
