While the football season is on pause, she organises tournaments to keep the youth off the streets and positively engaged.
'There's no better way to keep young people off the streets than by giving them something entertaining to do, and sports is the perfect tool for that,' Ndlovu explained.
According to her, the tournament has become a beacon of hope for many young people who would otherwise be vulnerable to negative influences.
'When they hear that there's soccer somewhere, they all feel compelled to either participate or come to watch,' she said.
Beyond offering young people a positive way to channel their energy, the event breathes life into local enterprises.
Small vendors set up stalls around the grounds, selling refreshments, snacks, and other goods to spectators who flock in from neighbouring villages.
'As a community, this also promotes unity as people from different villages come together and have fun.
There's no better place to meet people and build relationships than at a football game.
'Because that's where everyone gathers with the shared goal of supporting their teams despite any differences they might have,' Ndlovu added.
In a space often dominated by men, Ndlovu stands out as a woman organiser determined to make sports more inclusive and accessible.
She urged the community to rally behind local youth initiatives: 'Let us all come together and support our kids through sports.'
While she had initially planned to host a top sixteen tournament, scheduling constraints prompted her to scale it down.
'Normally, I would have organised a top sixteen tournament but had to opt for a top eight so that we do not clash with the mayor's cup event that is starting next week,' she explained.
However, Ndlovu assured that once the mayor's cup concludes, she will proceed with the larger competition as planned.
With dedicated individuals like Stella Ndlovu at the forefront, football in Gawula is proving to be much more than a game, it is a force for unity, empowerment, and positive change.
Meanwhile, the final match of the day featured Gawula Academy FC taking on Makoxa FC.
After a goalless draw in regulation time, Gawula Academy clinched victory in the penalty shootout with a 5–4 scoreline and walked away with an R5 000 prize, while Makoxa FC received R2 000 for finishing in second place.

Local schools crowned champions at Schoolboy Mathunyane Sports Tournament finals
The inaugural Schoolboy Mathunyane Sports Tournament finals took place on Sunday at the Themba Senamela Stadium, with both netball and soccer taking centre stage. The tournament consisted of 12 schools, in four groups of four teams each, and ran for over a month. Mkhulu Combined School triumphed over Kwazamokuhle High School during thrilling penalties in the first semi-final match. In an exciting and electrifying finals, LD Moetanalo emerged as champions against Mkhulu Combined in penalties, with a score of 5-7. They were rewarded with a floating trophy, gold medals and a voucher for R5 000, as well as a new playing kit for their victory. Mkhulu received a runners-up trophy, silver medals and a voucher for R3 000, as well as a new kit. The third position went to Kwazamokuhle, who defeated Phumelela by a solitary goal in the losers' final. For their efforts, they were rewarded with bronze medals and R1 500. LD Moetanalo pocketed the Top Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper awards, while the Player of the Tournament went to Mkhulu. • Eastdene Combined School faced off against Sozama Secondary School in the netball finals. Eastdene emerged as winners in the exciting final and were crowned the inaugural netball champions of the tournament. For their efforts, they were rewarded with a netball kit, gold medals, a floating trophy and a whopping R5 000, while Sozama received a kit, silver medals, R3 000 and a floating runners-up trophy. Phumelela, who were third, were awarded bronze medals and R1 500. Sozama scooped the Player of the Tournament award, while Eastdene and Phumelela shared the Best Defender award. The tournament was described as a great success and good motivation for school children, which aligns perfectly with what the late Paul Mathunyane lived and strived for, to see young people getting an opportunity to excel on the sports field. Congratulations to the Mathunyane family, led by Thato Mathunyane, and the Local Football Association, led by Giji Motha, for organising such a great, professionally run tournament. 'The Steve Tshwete community, especially schools, must definitely embrace such initiatives from philanthropists of this calibre, who play a vital role that helps take our young ones off the streets, where they fall into many forms of mischievous activities, that include substance abuse and teenage pregnancy,' said Thato. The founders of the tournament stated that they are confident the initiative will grow even bigger going forward, judging from the success of the competition this year. Kaizer Chiefs told to fork out R15 million for Bafana star
Cyprian club Aris Limassol are reportedly placed a price tag of R15 million for Mihlali Mayambela as Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bring the Bafana Bafana winger to Naturena. The 28-year-old has expressed his desire to join Amakhosi in a recent interview. Mayambela's contract with Limassol runs until 2026 but it looks Chiefs are pushing for a move. Soccer Laduma reported that Aris Limassol demanded approximately R15 million from Kaizer Chiefs, and not R5 million that was previously stated. 'I can tell you now that no team can refuse to pay R5 million for a player of Mihlali's calibre. Have you seen the players the team has signed so far this season? And the amount they have paid? It's around that R5 million for some of them and how could they fail to pay the same amount for an international Bafana Bafana player? So, Aris Limassol demanded around R15 million with one year left on the player's contract. This is why the club felt that was too much hence it's believed they put it on hold for now,' the source told Soccer Laduma .
