USA Cricket on notice: ICC gives 3-month deadline to fix governance
he International Cricket Council (ICC), at its annual conference, has kept USA Cricket (USAC) on notice and directed the board to undertake comprehensive governance reforms.
The decision was made during the ICC Annual Conference, which concluded on Sunday.
'The ICC reiterated its previous position and confirmed that the organisation remains on notice. USA Cricket is required to undertake comprehensive governance reforms, including but not limited to completing free and fair elections within a three-month period,' the apex body said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the ICC also awarded hosting rights for the next three editions of the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals to England.
The three finals — scheduled for 2027, 2029, and 2031 — will be held after the conclusion of each two-year cycle. They are expected to take place in June, which aligns with England's peak cricket season.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has previously hosted all three WTC finals — the 2021 final in Southampton (India vs New Zealand), the 2023 final at The Oval in London (India vs Australia), and the 2025 edition scheduled at Lord's (South Africa vs Australia).

".....the England and Wales Cricket Board have been awarded hosting rights for the next three World Test Championship Finals. The first three editions of the WTC Final were held at different venues in England, with Lord's hosting the most recent final between South Africa and Australia last month," the ICC stated in a release.
India camp hit by more injuries, Playing XI TENSION before Manchester Test vs England
Given the scheduling of the WTC cycles, England remains the most suitable host in terms of minimal weather disruptions during June.
In contrast, Australia's domestic season runs from October to March, making it less feasible.
"We are absolutely delighted that England and Wales has been chosen to host the next three ICC World Test Championship Finals," said Richard Gould, ECB CEO.
"It's a testament to the passion that fans in this country have for this treasured format of the game and the willingness of supporters from around the world to travel here for these games. Hosting these finals is a privilege, and we look forward to working with the ICC to build on the success of the previous editions," he added.
In India, Test cricket is not the most popular format, and if the national team fails to qualify for the final, fan turnout may remain low — even if other top cricketing nations reach the summit clash.

World Swimming Championships: McIntosh motors to 400m freestyle crown, Australia revel in relay golds
World record holder Summer McIntosh stormed to the women's 400 metres freestyle world title on Sunday, making a flying start to her bid for five individual crowns at the Singapore meet as American great Katie Ledecky finished with the bronze. The highly anticipated battle between McIntosh and Ledecky failed to materialise as the Canadian led from start to finish and claimed the win in three minutes and 56.26 seconds, nearly two seconds ahead of Chinese silver medallist Li Bingjie. Ledecky was 2.23 seconds behind McIntosh, who had only a small break before returning to qualify fastest for the 200 individual medley (IM) final in 2:07.39, less than two seconds off her world record. Triple Olympic champion McIntosh has a chance to join Michael Phelps as the only swimmer to win five individual titles at a single world championships. The 18-year-old Canadian may be hurtling towards greatness, but a pre-teen Chinese swimmer showed she could be nipping at her heels in a few years. At 12 years old, Yu Zidi qualified seventh for the 200 IM final in 2:10.22, shaving over four-tenths off her personal best in her world championships debut. She also came second in the 200 IM in Shenzhen and is recording faster times than McIntosh did as a 12-year-old. Real joy In the men's 400 final, Olympic champion Lukas Maertens won an absolute humdinger of a race, nosing ahead of Sam Short on the final lap and holding off the Australian by 0.02 seconds to claim his first world title in a time of 3:42.35. Short won the event two years ago by the same margin from Tunisia's Ahmed Hafnaoui, with Maertens claiming bronze. 'I thought I'd have gone a bit faster, to be honest,' said Short, who swam 3:42.07 in the heats and dedicated the silver to his aunt, who recently died of cancer. 'I won two years ago by 0.02 (seconds), then I just lost by 0.02.' Australia finished the night celebrating a sweep of the men's and women's 4x100 freestyle golds. 'I know there was a lot of pressure on us this year, but we all put in a great swim,' said Australia's Meg Harris, who swam the second leg in 51.87. Updated WTC 2025-27 Points Table After 4th India-England Test Ends In A Draw
Last Updated: Updated WTC 2025-27 points table after the 4th India-England Test in Manchester: India remain 4th with 33.33 PCT% after playing a draw against the Ben Stokes-led side. The fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England ended in a draw on Sunday (July 27). India trailed by 311 runs after the end of the first innings of both teams, but in the final two days of the game's play at Old Trafford in Manchester, Indian batters stepped up and batted for 143 overs to cancel out England's chances of securing an outright win and seal the series with a scoreline of 3-1. Shubman Gill (103), Ravindra Jadeja (107*), and Washington Sundar (101*) scored centuries for India in the second innings. After playing a draw in Manchester, India remain fourth in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table. The two-time WTC losing finalists have 16 points to their credit from the available 48, and their PCT% is 33.33. England also remain third in the points table, but their PCT% has now dropped from 61.11 to 54.16. Ben Stokes' men have 26 points to their credit from the available 48. 2023 WTC winners Australia tops the WTC 2025-27 points table. The Baggy Greens have 36 points and 100 PCT% to their credit after securing a 3-0 series win over the West Indies earlier this month. They are followed by the Sri Lankan team, which have 66.67 PCT%. Sri Lanka, under the leadership of Dhananjaya de Silva, faced Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home last month and won the assignment with a scoreline of 1-0. The fifth and final Test of the ongoing series between India and England will be played at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4, and if Shubman Gill's men manage to get the better of England in that fixture, then India will rise to third position with 46.66 PCT% and England will drop to 4th position with 43.33 PCT%. view comments First Published: July 27, 2025, 22:11 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. "India Cricket Is In Safe Hands": Shubman Gill Receives Big Praise After Record Ton
Former Indian wicketkeeper and batter Dinesh Karthik praised India's Test captain Shubman Gill after his fourth hundred in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. Gill carved his name alongside legends as he smashed his fourth century of the series--a superbly composed 103 on the final day of the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford on Sunday. While India still trailed by 88 runs at the time of his dismissal, Gill had already created history. In terms of overall World Test Championship (WTC) numbers, Gill's record continues to grow stronger. He now has nine centuries in the WTC era, equalling former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's tally--although Gill has done it in just 67 innings compared to Rohit's 69. "This young boy from Punjab, setting it alight in England. There were questions about him as a batter, and he's put that to bed. He's been outstanding. He's taken to leadership like a duck to water. India cricket is in safe hands," Karthik said on air, as quoted from Sky Sports. As the series stands, Gill has already amassed an unbeaten 722 runs, surpassing Yashasvi Jaiswal's 712 against England at home just last year. Only Sunil Gavaskar has scored more in a single Test series for India -- his 774 runs in the 1971 away tour of the West Indies and 732 at home in 1978/79. With the fifth Test still to come, Gill has every chance of surpassing both of Gavaskar's legendary marks. Coming to the match, Gill's exceptional innings of 103 keeps his side in the game as his side posted 223 runs with the loss of four wickets at the end of the first session on Day 5 against England. At the stroke of lunch, the visitors are 223/4, with Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja unbeaten at the crease. The Shubman Gill-led side still trails the Three Lions' total of 669 by 88 runs. Team India started the first session of the fifth and final day of the fourth Test from 174/2 with Gill (78*) and opener KL Rahul (87*) unbeaten at the crease.
