Globe also said its broadband customers grew to 1.83 million as of end-March 2025, up from 1.72 million the same period last year.
The telecommunications company said 87% of its total service revenues in the first quarter of 2025 came from data, up from 85% the previous year.
Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz said it is a strong sign that Filipinos are embracing a digital-first lifestyle.
"We're not just going digital for the sake of it. We're building solutions that reflect real needs, real affordability, and real stories of connection. That means helping students with their online learning, helping an OFW see their family over a clear video call, or allowing small businesses to receive payments digitally. These moments are what matter,' said Cruz.
As of April, GFiber Prepaid (GFP), on the other hand, earned a standout Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 67—a strong indicator of satisfaction and trust among value-conscious households.
With 70% reload rates—the highest among prepaid fiber brands—and a 53% quarter-on-quarter subscriber growth, the product is expanding rapidly into income-challenged households, said Globe.

Instructure eyes 100% growth in PH market in next 5 years
Education technology ecosystem developer Instructure Holdings Inc. is optimistic to grow its Philippine business by at least 100% in the next five years, with the firm investing in a new office in the country amid its growing user base. According to Instructure managing director for Asia-Pacific Harrison Kelly, the company posted 100% growth in its number of its customers and students from 2020 to 2025, which it is looking to sustain from 2025 to 2030. "We are hugely supportive of this market and we think there is going to be significant uptake of digital model learning technologies, and we're humbled to be able to be a part of that," he told GMA News Online in an interview in the company's new office space in Quezon City. "We look forward to continued growth in the same rate that we've seen since 2020, if not more, and we can't wait to see what that means not only for institutions and education, but also for how we're helping supporting the job market, how we're thinking about digital literacy, the digital infrastructure that we're investing in here, and at the core of that is Filipinos. We're very happy with that," he added. Kelly did not provide absolute figures for the current customer base of the company. With Instructure's Asia-Pacific headquarters located in Sydney, Australia and its main office in Salt Lake City, Utah, the company deemed it fit to establish an office in the Philippines, after launching operations in the country in 2017. "We have opened and invested in this office because we know that this is the next chapter of our growth," Kelly said, noting that the company currently has a workforce of 150 in the Philippines, with expansions planned out that would be commensurate to the growth in the market. "One of the reasons in which we've invested in this market is because we believe that our mission and how we've anticipated the future is really aligned with what DepEd (Department of Education) and CHED (Commission on Higher Education) are doing," he added. The Philippine office also comes as the country is said to be Instructure's top market in the region. It is set to strengthen the company's global 24/7 support model for educators and institutions for its flagship product Canvas learning management system (LMS). "We are establishing a formal presence in the Philippines to better serve the unique needs of our growing customer base," Kelly said. Based on the Instructure's 2025 State of Higher Education - Philippines Report, 83% of educators in the country prioritze lifelong learning for students, but 93% agreed that an improvement in technologies and infrastructure would ease the implementation of lifelong learning initiatives. OCTA: 'Sharp rise' in PH food poverty, jumps to 43%
Food poverty in the Philippines surged by 8 points from April to July, pushing the ratio of Filipinos struggling to secure a sufficient and healthy diet to 43% or an estimated 11.3 million families, latest data by OCTA Research showed Wednesday. In its July 2025 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey, OCTA reported that the 43% food poverty rate in July jumped sharply compared to 35% registered in April. "The sharp rise in food poverty, despite stable overall poverty levels, suggests more families are finding it difficult to afford food, putting additional pressure on household budgets," OCTA Research said. It added, "While overall poverty rates remain statistically unchanged, the data point to growing food insecurity. Possible factors include higher food prices, reduced household purchasing power, or changes in access to social assistance." The OCTA Research findings comes just weeks after President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. announced in his fourth State of the Nation Address last July 28 that his P20 per kilogram of rice program would expand nationwide to make the grain staple more affordable to Filipinos. Disparities in nutritional access In its survey, OCTA found that the highest level of food poverty was reported in Mindanao with 68%, followed by Visayas at 50%, Balance Luzon with 34%, and National Capital Region (NCR) with 17%. The research firm noted "contrasting trends" that "highlight disparities in nutritional access" among socioeconomic groups, particularly the declining food poverty in Class ABC and persistently high rates in Class E, the lowest tier. Class E had the highest incidence at 68%. On the other hand, Class ABC registered the highest decline at -13 points. Analyzing responses of families who rated themselves food-poor, OCTA said the median monthly amount needed for home expenses to escape food poverty was P10,000. An additional median amount of P5,000 was needed, OCTA added, so respondents would not see themselves as food-poor. "Many may still have housing and basic assets, but are cutting back on the quality or quantity of their meals to cope with financial constraints. This could lead to health and nutrition challenges not yet reflected in broader poverty measures," OCTA said. Self-rated poverty Meanwhile, numbers for self-rated poverty—or those who consider themselves poor—across the Philippines "remained broadly stable." OCTA placed the number at 45% in July 2025, which it described as a "statistically unchanged figure" from 42% in April 2025. The July percentage represents some 11.9 million families. The highest rate of 63% was logged in Mindanao, while the highest incidence among socioeconomic groups was among Class E at 71%. In terms of self-rated hunger, Mindanao recorded a sharp decline, from 23% in April to only 4% in July–the largest regional declines observed by OCTA. "Mindanao recorded a dramatic improvement, with self-rated hunger dropping by 19 percentage points compared to April 2025—one of the largest regional declines observed by OCTA—reducing the rate to less than one-fourth of its previous level. In contrast, hunger increased by six percentage points in Balance Luzon and by 5 points in the Visayas," OCTA reported. Self-rated hunger is assessed by OCTA based on the number of times families experienced hunger in the last three months. Data for the survey was gathered through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 respondents nationwide. Globe asks LGUs, HOAs for help in connectivity, restoration works
Telecommunications firm Globe has urged local government units and homeowners' associations (HOAs) to support its connectivity restoration works in gated communities amid its ongoing expansion, restoration, and maintenance works. In a statement Sunday, Globe said it is facing delays in restoring network services due to access restrictions and costly fees. These include permit requirements, per-entry charges, and construction bonds, some of which are recurring, excessive, or undefined in scope. Globe cited an example where their workers were required to pay P100,000 for access with no clear validity period, while another village required an access fee of P5,000 per day. The company added that other subdivisions do not allow the extension of fiber facilities. 'Timely access to our infrastructure is critical in preventing service disruptions and maintaining a seamless experience for our customers,' said Joel Agustin, Globe's head of Service Planning and Engineering. 'We recognize the importance of village security protocols and are committed to working in full coordination with HOA representatives,' he added. Citing the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development's Order No. 22, Globe said, 'Consent [is] not required for laying cables on existing poles, underground fiber ducts, and other physical telecommunications infrastructure.' Meanwhile, the Magna Carta for Homeowners and Homeowners' Associations prohibits the prevention of access or restriction to 'the entry of utility service providers, in order to install, maintain, or disconnect services pursuant to an approved contract or application.' 'We seek the support of HOAs as partners in connectivity.
