Developer, quarry companies to repair damage caused by overloaded lorries
The Kelantan Public Works Department (JKR) director Nik Soh Yaacoub said that damage was detected on several main routes, including the D233 Jalan Kemubu-Bertam and D229 Jalan Kampung Biak routes in Kuala Krai, as well as the D235 Jalan Bertam Lama-Jerek route and part of the D233 route in the Gua Musang area.
"The developer will repair the roads back to their original condition, involving the sub-base to the premix surface, to ensure the roads are restored. The roads in question have been damaged down to the base structure due to lorries carrying heavy loads of rocks from the quarry in Gua Musang to the PHK in Kemubu,´ he said to Bernama on Wednesday (June 25).
On June 17, Bernama reported that approximately 5,000 road users faced the risk of accidents and vehicle damage due to the severely damaged road conditions in Kampung Bertam Lama here.
Meanwhile, Nenggiri assemblyman Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani when met in in Kampung Bertam Lama today said his team hopes that the quality monitoring conducted by the JKR will ensure that the repaired roads can be used for a long period, even when traversed by overloaded lorries with construction materials. - Bernama

SHAH ALAM, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government is looking into the use of a suitable super app to coordinate the implementation of the Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) system, said state Islamic Religious Affairs and Innovation Culture Exco Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah. He said the State Digital Infrastructure Committee as the responsible party is awaiting suggestions from the market so that the implementation of smart parking throughout the state runs smoothly. He said the estimated annual collection of parking lots throughout Selangor reached about RM100 million a year and through the implementation of a more efficient collection system, the amount could reach up to RM200 million. PLUS and LPT2 highways now feature 112 EV charging points
KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network with 112 operational points along PLUS and Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) highways. The company surpassed its initial target of 100 charging points by year-end, contributing to Malaysia's goal of 1,000 fast-charging stations by 2025. PLUS managing director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said the charging points are strategically placed at rest areas, lay-bys, and petrol stations for user convenience. She noted a growing utilisation rate of EV chargers on PLUS highways, reflecting increased adoption of electric vehicles nationwide. PLUS plans to launch Malaysia's first Highway EV Hub at Seremban R&R (Southbound) by early 2027. The company aims to energise 350 EV charging points by 2028 to further support sustainable travel. PLUS chief commercial officer Mohd Fauzi Puniran said the installed chargers are Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFCs) for efficient long-distance travel. These chargers provide output power from 47 kW to 200 kW, enabling an 80 per cent charge in 15 to 30 minutes. KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has expanded its low-carbon mobility initiatives with 112 electric vehicle (EV) charging points operating on its highways as of June 30. PLUS managing director Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said the number surpassed the initial target of 100 charging points by year-end, contributing to the national target of 1,000 fast-charging points by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Development Plan 2021-2030. "These EV charging points are strategically located at selected Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs), lay-bys and within selected petrol station premises petrol stations along PLUS and East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) highways, to ensure greater accessibility for users," she said in a statement on Monday (Aug 18). Nik Airina said the average utilisation rate of EV chargers on PLUS highways has shown healthy growth this year, reflecting the rising adoption of electric vehicles nationwide. She said PLUS is also targeting the launch of Malaysia's first Highway EV Hub at Seremban R&R (southbound), expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027, while aiming to energise 350 EV charging points by 2028.
