Horner dismissed suggestions he could leave the F1 team he has led for more than 20 years, joking his inability to speak Italian meant the move would not work.
However, former F1 star Ralf Schumacher has tipped the 51-year-old to take up an improved position at French constructor Alpine.
According to Schumacher, 49, Horner could be tempted to leave Red Bull if controversial Alpine boss and majority owner Flavio Briatore offered him shares in the team.
A similar deal took F1 design legend Adrian Newey from Red Bull to Aston Martin last year.

Speaking on a podcast with Sky Germany, Schumacher said: "Briatore is looking for a good new team boss.
"And he and Horner know and respect each other.
"I believe this is what he has always wanted and never achieved at Red Bull Racing.
"It's something he couldn't get anywhere else.

"That's why I think he might be very interested in moving to Alpine as the boss."
In the reality Horner does decide to leave Red Bull after two decades of service, Schumacher also earmarked a possible replacement.
Ex-Red Bull mechanic claims Max Verstappen will quit F1 this year
He added: "If I were (Red Bull CEO) Oliver Mintzlaff, I would call Andreas Seidl right away and try to get him."
Seidl, 49, was previously the CEO of Sauber and team principal of McLaren in F1.
He led McLaren from 2019 to December 2022, when it was announced he would be joining Sauber in January 2023.
In March 2024 he was then announced as the CEO of Audi's F1 operations, but after just four months he was axed and replaced by former Ferrari chief Mattia Binotto.
The 2025 F1 season returns this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, with McLaren's Oscar Piastri leading the World Drivers Championship by 10 points ahead of team-mate Lando Norris.
Red Bull's reigning world champion Max Verstappen is 49 points off the pace after losing his head at the Spanish Grand Prix when he crashed his car deliberately into rival George Russell.
Verstappen's actions put him on the cusp of a race ban after the FIA slapped him with three penalty points on his superlicence.
One more point before June 30 means he will face a race ban, so the Dutchman will need to be on his best behaviour for this weekend's race in Canada and the following weekend's Austria Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton has rubbished retirement talk after declaring his last race with Ferrari was one of the "worst he had ever experienced".

Gianluigi Donnarumma confirms PSG exit as star takes pointed swipe at Luis Enrique

The Italy No.1 has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea this summer, and he has now confirmed that he will leave PSG Gianluigi Donnarumma has announced he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain as the Italian goalkeeper took aim at boss Luis Enrique. ‌ Donnarumma - a European champion with Italy in 2021 and a Champions League winner with PSG in May - has been involved in a contractual dispute with the French club over the past season, and with just one year left on his deal PSG will now seek to sell him to the Premier League. ‌ Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, and on Tuesday night he announced he would be leaving the French capital in a fiery statement on Instagram. ‌ "To the special Paris fans, From the first day I arrived, I gave everything – on and off the pitch – to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain. "Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success. "I am disappointed and disheartened. I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done. ‌ "If that doesn't happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget it. I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights, and of you, who made me feel at home. "To my teammates – my second family – thank you for every battle, every laugh, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers. Playing for this club and living in this city has been an immense honour. Thank you, Paris." ‌ Earlier Enrique had confirmed that he had left Donnarumma out of his squad for Wednesday night's European Super Cup clash with Tottenham in Udine. 'Donnarumma is out of the squad as it's my own decision. I am 100 per cent responsible," said Enrique. "I want a different kind of goalkeeper and I made this decision. Gigio is one of the best goalkeepers in the whole world. 'The life of a top-level footballer, and the same goes for us coaches, is this: it wasn't an easy decision but I take full responsibility for it. On the other hand, if these choices were easy, anyone could make them.'

Liverpool told Crystal Palace 'desperate' to sell Marc Guehi as £35m move edges closer

Liverpool have opened talks with Crystal Palace over a move for England star Marc Guehi, with their Premier League rivals reportedly eager to make a profit on the player this summer Liverpool have been informed that Crystal Palace are keen to offload Marc Guehi while they can still turn a profit on the defender. Guehi has entered the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park and discussions between the clubs have now commenced regarding a potential £35million transfer. ‌ The Reds have also been told that the Palace star surpasses Ibrahima Konate in ability. Palace supporter and broadcaster Rebecca Lowe has suggested the south London outfit are "desperate" to avoid losing Guehi for nothing next summer, with the Premier League champions braced for a hectic conclusion to the transfer window. ‌ Speaking on It's Called Soccer! alongside former Arsenal star Theo Walcott, Lowe reckons her cherished club have been touting the centre-half, whom they acquired from Chelsea for £18m in 2021, to competitors as they seek to secure a considerable sum for the England international while they can. ‌ Questions over Guehi establishing himself in Liverpool's first team have been an ongoing concern. However, Walcott believes the 25-year-old can oust Konate, 26, from his berth in Arne Slot's first XI, as he believes the Englishman has the advantage over the French star due to starting regularly for the Three Lions. "I do [think Guehi is better]," Walcott began. "Because when you look at England particularly and you talk about the centre halves, we're talking about the two best centre halves in the country when you're starting for England, and he's starting for England." Walcott's logic perhaps doesn't add up entirely when comparing the players against an international metric. Guehi has played 23 times for England, matching the number of appearances Konate has for Les Blues, while the latter has also captained his country on one occasion in November 2024. However, Walcott remains adamant the transfer would be worthwhile for the Reds as Guehi would make an immediate difference. "For Guehi, he would fit into that Liverpool team and they have the ball all the time, so he's not going to be challenged as much," Walcott added. "He'll get fitter, he'll learn so much. To play at Liverpool and be next to Virgil van Dijk, these opportunities might not come again." ‌ Liverpool are keen to strengthen their centre-back ranks having allowed Jarell Quansah to join Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the summer. Van Dijk, Konate and Joe Gomez represent their only three senior central defensive choices currently, with Konate entering the final 12 months of his deal and Gomez presently sidelined through injury. Palace chairman Steve Parish acknowledged earlier this week that losing the defender for nothing would pose a "problem" and that Guehi might leave during the current transfer window. And that now appears to be materialising. ‌ Liverpool have now made their approach with talks ongoing over a deal for Guehi for a fee understood to be £30m up front with £5m in add-ons. Personal terms have not yet been agreed with Guehi. However, he's reportedly eager to make the switch. The Reds' interest in Guehi is thought to be separate from their chase for Parma's centre-back Giovanni Leoni, as they also prepare to intensify their pursuit of the 18-year-old.
