Two Eagles games named among NFL's best of the past 25 years
These young Philadelphia Eagles certainly are spoiled, aren't they? Three Super Bowl appearances since the 2017-18 NFL season have led to two Lombardi Trophies and countless memories that will last a lifetime.
No one is complaining. Those of us who are older have also appreciated this run. We've been battered by the disappointment that sometimes comes with being lifelong Philadelphia sports fans.
Twelve teams have never won a Super Bowl. Some of them seem as though they're getting further away from having any real shot at accomplishing that goal. The Eagles, however, have continued to be one of pro football's model franchises, one that has gifted its fans and city with many great memories.
A recent NFL ranking confirms the lasting impact of two Eagles classics
In total, the Eagles have won five championships. Three titles preceded the 1966 NFL/AFL merger, with Philadelphia winning NFL Championships in 1948, 1949, and 1960. The aforementioned Super Bowls were won in the 52nd and 59th editions. It's impossible to count the number of classic wins we have seen.
Two of those wins were mentioned in a unique NFL ranking. With a quarter century in the books, Sports Illustrated recently stacked the top 25 games of the past 25 NFL seasons.
Two iconic matchups featuring the Birds cracked the countdown. The 'Miracle at the New Meadowlands' cracks the list at number 16 thanks to a come-from-behind victory and DeSean Jackson's walk-off punt-return TD.
To no one's surprise, Philadelphia's shootout with Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots cracks the top five. It's a game that's first on Eagles fans' hearts but fourth on SI's ranking.
"The Eagles' creativity won them this epic back-and-forth thriller. They unleashed the iconic Philly Special when Foles went to the sideline near the end of the first half, asking coach Doug Pederson to run the trick play. Foles moved away from the center and allowed running back Corey Clement to take the snap before tossing it back to tight end Trey Burton, who found a rolling Foles for the touchdown connection."
Ranked ahead of Super Bowl LII are '13 Seconds', Patrick Mahomes' dagger in overtime to give the Kansas City Chiefs a win over the Buffalo Bills during a playoff shootout that went into overtime. That ranks third.
Seattle's decision to blow the Super Bowl by passing instead of handing the ball to Marshawn Lynch found its way into the number two slot. Frankly, Super Bowl LII was a better game than both of those contests.
Tom Brady and the Patriots' come-from-behind effort in Super Bowl LI ranks first. They erased a 28-3 deficit on the big stage, so we guess we can live with that.
The only question remaining is as follows. Where on Earth is Super Bowl LIX? Maybe our views are slanted and our desires are rooted in selfishness, but one of the greatest upsets in league history should, at minimum, be top five.

Brian Burns: Giants' defense looks great on paper, but we haven't done it yet
Giants outside linebacker Brian Burns believes the talent on the roster this season is good enough for a big turnaround. It's on the players to make that happen. "Everybody feels encouraged and excited and hyped up at the beginning of the season," Burns said. "At the same time, we look great on paper, but we ain't do shit yet, you understand? So it's all on us. We can take this as far as we want to go. Everything looked good with the names that we have and the potential and this and that, but until we put that shit to stamp, ain't really nothing to talk about." Asked if that's something he has reminded his teammates about in his role as a veteran leader, Burns said everyone in the Giants' locker room already understands. "I don't feel like it's needed," Burns said. "I feel like everybody's working hard. Nobody's entitled to whatever hype that we do have. I think everybody has a common understanding that we need to get out here and show." Burns spent his first five NFL seasons with the Panthers, who had a losing record all five years, and then was traded to the Giants last year and went through an ugly 3-14 season. He's ready to play for a team that doesn't just look good on paper, but actually shows it.

Ex-star WR compares Pat Surtain to Darrelle Revis: 'As consistent as it gets'
When Darrelle Revis was in his heyday from the late 2000s until the early 2010s, he struck fear into quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive coordinators alike. He was so effective that he was revered as 'Revis Island,' where wide receivers matched up with him were in no man's land with his coverage. So when Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II was recently compared to him, it was a worthy recognition. Former Atlanta Falcon star wide receiver and All-Pro WR Roddy White made the comparison in an interview with Dylan Wilkerson of Vegas Insider, noting that Surtain plays similarly to the former Jets star. "Patrick Surtain II from the Denver Broncos," White said when asked what modern-day corner he'd like to face one-on-one. "He's the guy. I've watched him a lot. He does everything well, and he travels with the other team's best guy. He reminds me of Darrelle Revis, but just a little taller. "He competes. He likes the challenge of going against the best receivers in the league and he'd be the guy I'd look forward to facing if I was still in the league. In a position where it's so hard to be consistent, he is as consistent as it gets.' While the comparison is suitable, Surtain does have one edge over Revis: Defensive Player of the Year. Although he was a seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl champion, Revis never won DPOY as PS2 did in 2024. Surtain is still seeking a Super Bowl ring of his own, but it's clear that he's the best cornerback in the NFL today. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Jets tease potential reunion with K Nick Folk
The New York Jets entered training camp with an inexperience problem at kicker. As things currently stand, they're hosting a position battle between rookie undrafted free agent Caden Davis, and sophomore Harrison Mevis. Neither placekicker has kicked in an NFL regular season game. After a few uneven performances at training camp, Jets general manager Darren Mougey is now considering going in a different direction. The Jets hosted free-agent kicker Nick Folk on a visit, according to a report by The NY Post's Brian Costello. It would mark a reunion. Folk kicked for the Jets from 2010-16. The 40-year-old Folk most recently kicked for two seasons for the Tennessee Titans. In both 2023 and 2024, Folk led the league in field goal percentage (96.7 and 95.5). He's remained incredibly accurate since leaving East Rutherford. The Titans hired a new special teams coordinator this offseason in John "Bones" Fassel. Coach Fassel preferred a kicker with more distance, so the Titans decided against re-signing the accurate Folk, opting for the riskier leg of Joey Slye instead. As accurate as Folk has been, distance isn't his game at this point. Folk would bring considerably more reliability to the Jets' kicking game. Together, Mougey and special teams coordinator Chris Banjo must decide if they want to gamble on Mevis or Davis being a long-term solution. Signing Folk would obviously be a short-term fix.
