Sana'a – SABA :
The General Authority for Insurance and Pensions commenced today the disbursement of the second half of the December 2020 pension payments for civil retirees.
Ibrahim Al-Haifi, Chairman of the Authority, told the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that this payment is part of the temporary exceptional mechanism to support the state employee salary bill by the provisions of Law No. (2) of 1446 AH. The mechanism ensures the regular disbursement of pensions, with 12 pension payments carried out annually.
He highlighted that this step is the result of intensive efforts and continuous coordination between the Ministers of Finance, Civil Service, and Administrative Development. The goal is to guarantee the continuous and timely payment of pensions as part of the Government of Change and Development's program, which prioritizes retirees in recognition of their dedication and long service to the nation.
Retirees and beneficiary agents are urged to visit post offices with the necessary documents to facilitate pension collection.
Al-Haifi expressed his deep appreciation for the significant cooperation from relevant authorities, particularly the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Hashim Ismail, and the Director General of Yemeni Post, Ammar Wahan, as well as the staff and employees of the Insurance and Pensions Authority, the Ministries of Civil Service and Finance, and the Central Bank, all of whom contributed to the success of the disbursement process.

Yemen's Houthis "warn" companies to leave Israel

The Houthis yesterday renewed their warning to all firms investing in Israel, urging them to leave immediately or risk bearing full responsibility for any potential losses. Mahdi Al-Mashat, president of the Supreme Political Council — the highest governing authority in the Houthi-led administration in Sanaa — called on all companies investing in Israel to take the Yemeni warning seriously and to withdraw quickly, stressing that the environment is no longer safe. His remarks were reported by Houthi-run media. 'Companies that remain in the Zionist entity after our warning will have to bear the consequences of their insistence and be held accountable for any losses they may incur,' he added. 'We may take additional decisions in the coming days, if necessary, which would place investment companies within the Zionist entity at real and serious risk.' 'The disregard shown by some investment firms for our forces' warnings makes their operations inside the entity a dangerous gamble, which could come at a heavy cost,' Al-Mashat added. He accused the Israeli occupation government of failing to protect the interests of private companies, saying: 'The criminal Netanyahu government does not care about the safety of investment companies. It gambles with their security to serve its own interests. A government that ignores the lives of its own captives will certainly not care about the safety of others' companies and investments.'

Japanese stocks decline after weak US data, rising yen

Tokyo - (Saba): Japanese stocks fell on Thursday, amid weak US economic data that raised concerns about the growth prospects for the world's largest economy. A stronger yen pressured export-oriented stocks, particularly automakers. The Nikkei index fell 0.1 percent, closing at 37,704.91 points, after losing about 0.6 percent earlier in the session. The broader Topix index also fell 0.64 percent to 2,627.17 points. Markets were affected by a report from research firm ADP, which showed a slowdown in US private-sector hiring, with employers hiring the fewest workers since March 2023, and the services sector contracting for the first time in a year.
