Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Disha Vakani aka Dayaben is doing THIS after leaving the show

India.coma day ago

Actress Disha Vakani, who became a household name with her iconic role as Dayaben in Sony SAB TV's popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah , is now completely away from the limelight. There was a time when she was in the headlines almost every day. Disha joined the show when it first aired in 2008, and in a short time, her character of Daya Bhabhi became beloved in every household. After portraying the role for nearly nine years, she eventually said goodbye to the show.
Disha Vakani is now busy with her personal life. She went on maternity leave in 2017, and since then, she has not returned to the show. She has two children (a daughter and a son), whose upbringing takes up all her time. Why did Disha Vakani leave Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah?
Disha Vakani married Mumbai-based chartered accountant Mayur Padia in 2015. Mayur Padia has nothing to do with the acting and film-TV industry, and he likes to stay away from the camera in his personal life. On 27 November 2017, the couple became parents to a baby girl, and in May 2022, they welcomed a boy.
Disha wanted to return to the show, but she had some conditions of her own. But the show's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, refused to accept them. He said that the rules that apply to others will apply to her as well. She will not get any special treatment.
There were several discussions that she would return to the show, but now it seems unlikely that she will return. She is living a happy life with her family. Fans miss her a lot in this show.
People loved Disha Wakani's acting and her way of speaking. Her pairing with Jethalal i.e. actor Dilip Joshi in the show, was loved by the people. Asit Modi on Disha Vakani's return in TMKOC
In an interview, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Asit Modi also revealed whether Disha Vakani will reprise her role or not. Speaking to Screen , Modi said, 'People have been eagerly waiting for Daya Bhabhi, and I will finalise her soon. People say that without Dayaben, they don't enjoy the show as much, and I agree. We, as a team, are trying to fill Daya Bhabhi's absence as much as we can. But she will return soon.' Asit said that Disha is like his sister and would want to see her coming back as Dayaben. He continued, 'We can only pray that Disha Vakani returns as the character. She is like my sister, and she has some family duties to fulfill, which is why it might be difficult for her to return. We miss her even today. She was very sincere and caring towards her co-stars and the team. We hope to find someone just like that.' Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the longest-running television series in India. The series premiered on 28 July 2008 on Sony SAB and is also digitally available on SonyLIV.

Abhignya Vuthaluru on working in ‘thrilling, chilling' Viraatapalem PC Meena Reporting: ‘Many were shocked to learn…'

It's not just big stars, even those who've built a loyal fanbase through social media content also often find it difficult to break away from their established persona and try something uncharted. The hesitation isn't always due to a lack of ability. It more often stems from the fear of whether their fans would accept them in a new light, shattering the image that helped build their popularity in the first place. But YouTuber-turned-actor Abhignya Vuthaluru believes she's been fortunate to have an audience that already knows that she's a jack of many trades and supports her wish to experiment as an artiste. Not just that she isn't weighed down by the persona shaped by her fashion-centric YouTube channel, but it has only empowered her to pursue her aspirations in cinema without being enchained by expectations. That's also one of the reasons, she admits, why she could confidently take on the central role in the upcoming ZEE5 Telugu original series Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting without second thoughts. In Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting, Abhignya plays Meena, a police constable posted in the fictional village of Viraatapalem during the 1980s. The series is touted as a thriller centred around the mysterious deaths of brides on their wedding days, as a result of which no marriage has taken place in the village in a decade. The trailer and other promotional material have also established that the show will be a thrilling ride, devoid of overtly feel-good elements. Speaking about the show, in an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Abhignya says, 'While I was watching the first cut, there were moments where I felt a sort of (creepy) energy. These aren't jump scares, but scenes that make you feel eerie. The frames and music definitely keep you hooked. It's both thrilling and chilling.' So what drew her to a character like Meena, especially since the show features a subject many actors might shy away from due to its intensity and the need to step outside their comfort zone? Abhignya notes, 'Though I am not so self-introspecting on my choices, I know where I want to be. I know with the little or upcoming better influence that I have, I want to be part of stories that reflect something beyond skin and external factors, such as fashion. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with it. I myself come from a fashion background and have a fashion channel. But I think that is always something you can achieve. However, stories like Viraatapalem that have personalities and layers are rare finds. It is a choice that I made much earlier in my career. While I'm part of glam and femme stories too, I also want to prove to my audience that this is the range I can perform. I want to be a versatile actor that way.' Was it an easy decision to take on such a role, especially since it deviates so far from her public persona? Did she ever worry about how her social media fam would react? 'I am actually blessed with a crowd on my social media who know that I can do that and this. While I enjoy the vanity aspect of actors, I also want to have a voice. Sure, we like to look at someone pretty, but when they have something to tell, it'll keep us hooked to them. I don't have a mantra to it. I'm just going by my gut feeling, and I know that it's all sort of adding up,' Abhignya maintains. 'It was so different from my other projects and in a good way,' she recalls her experience working on Viraatapalem. 'This was the first time I got a proper Telugu script in a set. And that took me back to my childhood.' Although she can read and write in Telugu, Abhignya admits she had started losing touch with the lipi (script), since most of her recent projects had English or Tenglish (a blend of Telugu and English) scripts. 'Also, when you speak English often, you tend to use a certain enunciation, and that's something I had to unlearn this time. It was a beautiful experience. Everyone on set was shocked upon learning that I could actually read Telugu,' she adds. A post shared by SCREEN (@ieentertainment) During the chat, Abhignya also shared that part of the fun working on Viraatapalem was also because the show has a 'beautiful balance of young and experienced actors.' She adds, 'There were character artistes who had as much experience as our ages. And they were cracking jokes and trying to understand our lingo. It was a super fun set. Also, the pace at which director Poluru Krishna shot the show was impressive. He knew every frame very well. This was the quickest shoot I have been part of.' Also starring Charan Lakkaraju, Lavanya Sahukara, Ramaraju, Gowtham Raju and Satish in key roles, Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting will start streaming on ZEE5 on June 27.

Looking back at her performance, director Muzaffar Ali told SCREEN, 'She had to prepare on many levels—language, singing, dancing. Yes, there were people to guide her, but she performed beyond expectations. Working with her was a gift because this film is woven from quiet emotions. And it takes an actor like her to absorb those feelings and translate them onto the screen.' Umrao Jaan also starred Farooq Shaikh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Raj Babbar in pivotal roles.

Meghan Markle's As Ever accused of inflating tea prices and outsourcing products; details here

Meghan Markle's wellness venture may have hit a bitter note. The Duchess of Sussex is facing criticism after a report claimed her As Ever tea line was sourcing products from an established brand, repackaging them, and reselling at significantly marked-up prices. According to a report in The Sun, Meghan's As Ever herbal teas, which have already sold out in two popular flavours, are allegedly produced not in-house, but by another California-based tea company — Republic of Tea — whose factory is in Nashville, Illinois. Reportedly, fans first uncovered the connection after noticing 'Republic of Tea' listed in the source code of As Ever's website. Since then, the branding has been changed to 'As Ever Store'. However, The Sun quoted insiders saying that Republic of Tea is indeed the supplier behind the Duchess' blends. The issue? The price. While Republic of Tea usually sells 36 bags of tea for $11.50 to $14.00, Meghan Markle's As Ever sells just 12 bags for $12, essentially tripling the price. Though the insiders told The Sun that As Ever blends are 'different', many online are sceptical. According to the report, Royal commentator Margaret Holder slammed the premium price point of the tea and accused Meghan of taking advantage of celebrity branding. She claimed it was a case of 'Meghan Mark-Up' and not Meghan Markle. Republic of Tea has often worked with big names, having made teas for shows like Bridgerton and Downton Abbey. As per The Sun report, Meghan Markle's brand will introduce its first alcoholic beverage, a 2023 Rosé, which will reportedly be available starting July 1. Former palace spokesperson Dickie Arbiter had raised questions on production. 'How many bottles will she make? Who is behind the production? She isn't a wine expert, so it raises the question of why she would enter a field she may not be familiar with,' he said as per The Sun. She is facing backlash for allegedly outsourcing her As Ever tea products from Republic of Tea and reselling them at nearly three times the price. Insiders claim the blends are 'different', but critics argue the branding and pricing are misleading and take advantage of celebrity influence. A set of 12 tea bags costs $12 from As Ever. In contrast, Republic of Tea offers 36 bags for around the same price. No official statement has been made by Meghan Markle, but the connection to Republic of Tea was confirmed by sources close to her brand, per The Sun.
