Social media is flooded with reactions marveling at the 15-year-old's resourcefulness, with many calling it a prime example of "jugaad" engineering at its best
A teenager from Bihar has stunned thousands after building and flying a working aircraft using nothing but scrap material and sheer ingenuity. Avinesh Kumar, a resident of Muzaffarpur, pulled off the feat without access to a laboratory, formal training, or technical equipment. The most staggering part? He built the single-seater aircraft in just 7 days, spending around Rs 7,000.
A video of Avinesh's homemade aircraft taking off and soaring nearly 300 feet has gone viral, drawing praise from across the country. Social media is flooded with reactions marveling at the 15-year-old's resourcefulness, with many calling it a prime example of 'jugaad" engineering at its best.
The clip, shared widely online, shows Avinesh calmly seated in his makeshift cockpit, starting the engine, and lifting off the ground as bystanders cheer. After flying for a few minutes, the aircraft lands safely – no mishaps, no drama, just a teenager casually flying a machine built from junk.
Speaking to local media, Avinesh said he had dreamed of making an aircraft since childhood. 'I always wanted to fly something I built myself. I just couldn't afford anything, so I started collecting scrap," he said, adding, 'It was tough, but I never thought it was impossible."
This isn't the first time Muzaffarpur has seen such DIY aviation talent. Two years ago, another young man, Rikki Sharma, a BA student, made headlines after constructing a 'fighter plane" using thermocol and fish storage boxes. That too managed to reach a height of 300 feet. But unlike Rikki, Avinesh went a step further by not just building the machine, but also piloting it.
With no institutional support and limited resources, Avinesh's effort is now being hailed as a symbol of untapped rural talent in the country. Many are now calling for the state and central government to recognise and support such grassroots innovation. 'Imagine what this kid could do with a little funding and mentorship," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Kingdom Box Office Collection Day 2: Vijay Deverakonda's actioner nosedives after historic start, earns Rs 7.5 crore

After a thunderous opening at the box office, Vijay Deverakonda's highly anticipated film Kingdom witnessed a significant decline on its second day of release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7.5 crore on Day 2, marking a steep drop of approximately 58.33% from its opening day. This brings the film's total two-day collection to Rs 25.5 crore. Despite the drop, the film maintained a respectable overall Telugu occupancy rate of 42.56% on Day 2. It began the day with 27.39% occupancy during morning shows, increased to 38.12% in the afternoon, rose to 43.21% in the evening, and peaked at 61.50% during the night shows. Region-wise, Warangal led with a 69.50% occupancy rate, followed by Mahbubnagar at 56.50%, and Hyderabad at 52.50%. Also Read | Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Ajay Devgn's comedy struggles with Rs 6.75 crore debut amid poor reviews Kingdom had already surpassed the opening day figures of Vijay's previous film Kushi, but its second-day earnings fell slightly short of Kushi's Day 2 collection of Rs 9.9 crore. However, the strong opening helped Kingdom maintain a lead in cumulative earnings, with its two-day total of Rs 25.5 crore edging past Kushi's Rs 25.15 crore. Interestingly, while Kingdom couldn't outdo Liger's Day 1 numbers, its second-day performance of Rs 7.5 crore helped it overtake Liger's two-day total of Rs 23.4 crore. The drop on Day 2 can be attributed, in part, to it being a working day, along with the film receiving mixed reviews. Additionally, Kingdom is facing stiff competition from other releases, including Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar, and Karan Johar's Dhadak 2. All eyes are now on the weekend collections, as Kingdom is being viewed as a potential comeback for Vijay Deverakonda after lukewarm responses to his previous outings, Kushi and Liger.

Calling the film 'raw, real and correct," she added, 'He's messed up in the head and will go to any lengths for his father, which was engraved in my mind when I shot for the film. After watching it, to say it's misogynistic or whatever…if you enjoyed it, just leave it." Animal was released in theatres in December 2023. When Shah Rukh Khan Said He Deserved National Award For Swades Over THIS Actor

Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Film Award for Best Actor on Friday, for his brilliant performance in Atlee's Jawan. The 71st National Film Awards were announced last night, and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his remarkable performance in Atlee's Jawan. This marks his first-ever National Award in an acting career spanning 33 years, making it a significant milestone. Many believe Shah Rukh Khan's best chance at a National Award was in 2005 (during 52nd National Film Awards) for his role in Swades. However, that year, Saif Ali Khan won the award for Hum Tum. A throwback video that has now gone viral on social media shows that even Shah Rukh thought he deserved the award more than Saif. The throwback video is from a Tag Heuer event in the late 2000s. It shows Shah Rukh on stage with director Kunal Kohli and anchor Mandira Bedi. When Kunal asked Shah Rukh about his favourite films, Shah Rukh responded by saying he has a good heart and likes all films, heroes, and heroines. Shah Rukh praised Kunal's work, mentioning that Fanaa was very good and Hum Tum was nice. He added that Saif Ali Khan won the National Award for Hum Tum, but he felt he should have received it instead. Shah Rukh then laughed, and even Kunal Kohli smiled sheepishly at the remark. 'Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story," said Shah Rukh Khan. Check out the throwback video below! Meanwhile, fans are happy and celebrating Shah Rukh Khan's achievement; however, many are confused that the actor won for Jawan when films like Swades, Chak De India, and My Name Is Khan were snubbed. After his National Award win for Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan shared a video on social media, expressing his gratitude for the honour. 'I am overwhelmed with gratitude, pride, and humility. To be honoured with a National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman, and to the I&B ministry, and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour," he said. 'I want to thank all my directors and writers, especially for the year 2023. So, thank you, Raju sir, thank you, Sid, and especially, thanks to Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in Jawan and trusting me to deliver," he said. He also expressed gratitude to his wife Gauri, and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
