Serena Williams's Husband, Alexis Ohanian, Had The Best Response To Criticism Of Her Viral Appearance In Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl Halftime Show

Buzz Feed11-02-2025
Serena Williams's husband, Alexis Ohanian, is hitting back at criticism of her appearance in Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show.
If you missed it, Serena made a super brief yet significant appearance towards the end of Kendrick's performance. While he was rapping 'Not Like Us,' his famous diss track at Drake, the cameras panned over to Serena, who was Crip Walking over the catchy beat.
Several fans online immediately pointed out that Serena's Crip Walk felt hugely significant, given that she faced a heap of scrutiny for doing the same dance at Wimbledon in 2012.
If you didn't know, the Crip Walk is a dance move that originated in Serena's hometown, Compton, in the '70s. Serena performed the move in celebration after winning against fellow tennis player Maria Sharapova, though she was sadly criticized for it and accused of 'glamorizing gang culture.' About a decade prior, her older sister was killed by a Southside Crips member.
At the same time, a ton of social media users suggested that Serena dancing to 'Not Like Us' felt like a very pointed jab at Drake, given that they were romantically linked back in the day.
It's important to note that Drake has mentioned Serena in his song lyrics more than once since they were rumored to be dating about a decade ago. In 2022, for example, he branded her husband a 'groupie' on his song 'Middle Of The Ocean.'
Media personality Stephen A. Smith was among those calling Serena out for seemingly making a jab at Drake by dancing on stage with Kendrick, suggesting on ESPN's chat show First Take that he'd divorce her over the move if he were her husband.
'If I'm married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, 'cause clearly you don't belong with me,' he said. 'What you worried about him for and you're with me? Bye. Bye.'
Stephen's comments sparked a divide online, and before long, Serena's *actual* husband Alexis (AKA her number one fan) entered the conversation.
If you didn't know, Alexis and Serena have been married since 2015. They share two daughters: Olympia and Adira.
Taking to X, Alexis described the Super Bowl halftime show as 'pretty fantastic' before pointing out the importance of Serena's Crip Walk.
Pretty fantastic halftime show.

'Some of y'all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows.... This is bigger than the music,' the Reddit cofounder tweeted.
Later replying directly to a tweet from the New York Post about Stephen's divisive comments, Alexis hilariously wrote, 'I got you @stephenasmith,' alongside a link to his tweet about the significance of Serena's dance.
Loads of fans have since praised Alexis's response. One person wrote, 'He does NOT play about his wife,' while another echoed, 'I love the way you don't play about Serena.'
'I came here knowing @alexisohanian would respond in the best way possible. Everyone should be lucky enough to have someone who has their back the way he has @serenawilliams,' one more tweet read.

Kareem Hunt fires back on savage Patrick Mahomes gesture

The post Kareem Hunt fires back on savage Patrick Mahomes gesture appeared first on ClutchPoints. During a Kansas City Chiefs practice, QB Patrick Mahomes attempted to dunk over RB Kareem Hunt playfully. It was some light-hearted teasing amid a highly charged practice in preparation for the season. Afterward, Hunt responded to Mahomes on social media in the most playful way imaginable. Essentially, Hunt called out Mahomes' jumping abilities. 'There's a reason we have on football jersey you don't have that in you!' Hunt said. Some jovial banter to contrast the recent skirmish during training camp, Travis Kelce had to break up. Much like Kelce, Hunt is eyeing another shot at the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are looking to redeem themselves after their blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Altogether, the Chiefs are still one of the best teams in the NFL. The core group of Mahomes, Kelce, and Hunt remains intact and has much to look forward to. As for Hunt, he rushed for 728 yards and had seven touchdowns on 200 carries in 13 games. He's been in the NFL for eight years. In 2017, Hunt was drafted by the Chiefs and had a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns from 2019 to 2023, before returning to the Chiefs in 2024. The Chiefs' offensive dynamic duo In many ways, Mahomes and Hunt feed well off one another. Upon Hunt's return to the Chiefs, Mahomes saw it as an opportunity for him to get back to form. Furthermore, Mahomes, along with coach Andy Reid, celebrated it as an example of redemption. In 2018, Hunt was cut from the team due to domestic violence. Over time, both have developed a strong friendship, with Hunt even attending Mahomes' wedding to Brittney Matthews in 2022. It's safe to say that their friendship has only gotten stronger since Hunt came back to Kansas City. If all goes well, that bond will translate into on-field success. The Block viewers make major demand after noticing disappointing detail: 'Never get it right'

This season of The Block has been a divisive one. If viewers aren't complaining about the judges, it's about the manufactured drama, or even the lack of drama. Now, The Block fans have called out the five houses after being left disappointed by a major part of the design process. One viewer took to Reddit and wrote, "Please. PLEASE can we see more colour this season?! "There is too much brown, beige, monochrome BLAH this season. I know that colour can be polarising and they want to sell the homes. But these homes are already boring by design because they are all identical in their layout. Somebody, please try to stand out. These rooms are on life support and somebody has to bring some life to these houses." Many others agreed, with one person responding, "Marty [Fox] being a judge has hurt the teams who do step outside the box tbh because he is so damn critical of anything not within his idea of what sells. RELATED: The Block viewers call for 'new judges' after divisive room reveals: 'Baffles me' 'Insane' reason The Block viewers are skipping the first 5 minutes of every episode The Block fans divided over this year's season for one major reason: 'Stupid' "Contestants HAVE to win judging to sell their homes and afford to finish. Which means they have to please three judges, who never get it right, compared to the public's view or the bidders. It's created year after year carbon copies." Another wrote, "It looks to be as though the producers have deliberately set the contestants a very tight colour palette to choose from. As Cam keeps saying 'It's a real estate show!' so you think they're trying to engage no black rooms or designs as they want to maximise financial return. "This show has moved a long way and not for the better. Originality and quirkiness has been stamped out in favour of financial gain. I fear for the rest of the show." Others suggested that it wasn't that colour is "polarising", but it's just hard to do well. Some teams have used colour sparingly throughout the design process, like Sonny and Alicia in their kids' bedrooms, but others, like Robby and Matt, and Britt and Taz, have decided to stick to a more neutral colour palette. "Neutral colours and white walls are not timeless. It's the fashion of our time, and has been since the turn of the millennium," said a third. "Colour is making a comeback, and we'll look back at the white walls of the early 21st century and think how boring we were." Others didn't agree, with one viewer writing, "When you're building a home to sell, you never put a lot of colour in it. You keep all the tones as neutral as possible and use colour to create accents in your styling. This is so potential buyers won't be turned off by too much colour, and if a buyer wants to add more colour after they purchase it, then they can do that themselves. This is standard real estate practice." "If I were on the show I would make bolder decisions to make my house stand out and look different from the others," the OP responded. "Could it be a mistake? Sure, but at least it is trying something. If I were a buyer in this market, I would pass over these because they, like many mass produced, cookie cutter, suburban neighbourhoods simply look soulless. Give me character over mundane any day." Some people's dream car is a Lamborghini, others may want a Maybach, but MGK's daughter, Casie Baker, had her eye on an Acura. MGK Day in Cleveland wasn't just all about the artist (formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly) on Sunday (Aug. 10), as Kells surprised Casie with her dream car, an Acura TLX, just a couple of weeks after celebrating her 16th birthday in July. Before she hopped behind the driver's seat, MGK had one special rule for Casie to follow: Don't drive like the musician. 'What's the No. 1 rule?' he asked, to which Casie swiftly replied, 'Don't drive like your dad.' MGK nodded in approval and said, 'Exactly — don't drive like me.' All that's left for Casie is to pass her upcoming driving test to secure a license. But the teen wasn't the only member of the family to receive a surprise on Sunday. At halftime of the Celebrity Shootout basketball game, MGK was presented with a guitar featuring a portrait his face that will forever live in the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. It was yet another epic MGK Day weekend for the multi-genre artist and his fans. MGK capped off the memorable weekend with a headlining performance on the Mall C lawn, debuting tracks from his new album, Lost Americana, for the attendance. Lost Americana arrived on Aug. 8, as MGK looks to make it three consecutive No. 1 albums atop the Billboard 200.
